00:00Why every MotoGP rider has this scar?
00:03If you look closely, you'll notice something unusual about MotoGP riders.
00:08Nearly all of them have a scar on their forearm.
00:11And it's not just any scar, it's a career-saving one.
00:15MotoGP is nothing like regular motorcycling.
00:18These riders tame machines that can go from 300 kilometers per hour
00:23to 100 kilometers per hour in just three to four seconds.
00:27But the real challenge?
00:29The sheer physical toll.
00:31Controlling the brakes requires up to 60 kilograms of force,
00:35like lifting a full-grown adult, over and over again.
00:39In a 40-minute race, they brake more than 10 times per lap,
00:43adding up to over 20 minutes of brutal braking force.
00:46Here's the problem.
00:47Their forearm muscles swell from this extreme strain,
00:51but the fascia, a tight, unforgiving membrane, won't stretch.
00:55The result?
00:56The muscle gets trapped, causing unbearable pain known as arm pump.
01:01In 2021, Fabio Quartararo was leading a race
01:05but dropped to 13th in the final laps because of it.
01:08By surgically releasing the fascia,
01:10riders preserve both their arms and their paychecks.
