00:00Welcome to Peter Bermilton Golf Club and in this video we're going to look at the
00:03seven gear mistakes you make once and never make again. If you've made any
00:08mistakes I'm about to talk you through you'll know how damaging and annoying it
00:12could be on the golf course and if you haven't made these mistakes hopefully
00:15you've learned a lot from this video. Let's get started. Right the first gear
00:19mistake that you're going to make once and never make again is not having a
00:22waterproof golf bag with you on course. These things mean you don't have to worry
00:26about how many showers you get caught in, how quick they come on, you know your
00:29stuff's going to be dry in that bag. You also don't have to mess around with one
00:33of the covers over the top if you don't want to and you know that your valuables,
00:36the balls, your clothing, your food are all going to be nice and dry. So whether
00:40it's a stand bag, a cart bag or a tour bag make sure it's waterproof. We can all
00:45agree that clubs like this and even more bladed clubs than this look beautiful in
00:49the bag. They're highly desirable and a lot of your mates will be envious if
00:52you've got a set of these. However the second gear mistake I'm going to talk
00:55about now is falling into the trap of buying these too soon for your game. I'd
00:59only recommend these if you're an elite ball striker and a confident ball
01:02striker because if you're not you're going to find your distances with clubs
01:05like this become incredibly inconsistent and your golf game will suffer. So don't
01:10fall into the trap like a lot of us do of getting blades too early for your
01:13game and make sure you're using golf clubs that help you out the most. The
01:16third gear mistake that you'll make once and never make again is playing with the
01:20wrong shafts. Now without a custom fit you'll just be guessing which ones you're
01:24using whether that's you think you're regular, you think you're stiff, ex-stiff or
01:27senior. Guessing is not the way forward and a custom fit will be perfect. Get
01:32this custom fit right and your golf clubs will suit your game way more and
01:36you'll optimise all of your performance. So stop guessing which shafts you're
01:39using, get a custom fit and get the most out of your game. The next gear mistake
01:44you'll make once and never again is not using one of these, that's a distance
01:48measuring device. Whether it's a laser like this or a GPS device like this, once
01:53you use it once you'll never want to be seen without one. These things give you
01:57super accurate yardages and allow you to hit better shots with more confidence.
02:01You can commit to them rather than guessing yardages out on course, you'll
02:05get closer to the pin and maybe you'll hold a few more putts. So make sure you
02:09got yourself either a laser or a GPS device or any kind of distance measuring
02:13device and stop estimating your yardages. The next gear mistake you'll make once
02:17and never again is not investing in a proper pair of waterproof shoes. Whether
02:22it's the summer or the winter there's no worse feeling than trudging around for
02:2616 or 17 holes with sopping wet socks and freezing cold feet. So make sure
02:30whether it's summer or winter your shoes are 100% waterproof and never make that
02:36mistake again. The next gear mistake you'll make once and never again is
02:40buying a club online and not checking the specs. I've fallen into this trap myself, I
02:44saw this lovely tailor-made Rocket Blades Hybrid online and thought I'll
02:48have a go with that. It arrived, it had a regular flex shaft and it was cut down
02:52by half an inch. Not my specs at all, I didn't check them, it's my own fault. So
02:56when you go online to buy clubs make sure you check the specs are just right
02:59for you, so they're right for your game and you can enjoy your new club. The last
03:04gear mistake you'll make once and never again is leaving your slope
03:07functionality on your laser rangefinder during a qualifying round. If you leave
03:12this on it can be very damaging, you'll get DQ'd from the round entirely and your
03:16work will go to waste. Now most models have slope functionality now and most
03:21also have a really easy way to turn them on and off. They'll also have a
03:25signifier, it depends on the manufacturer as to whether it's on or off, so you and
03:29your playing partners know whether you're legal or not. So don't fall into
03:32the trap, make sure your slope's off during any qualifying round and never
03:36get DQ'd again. So now you've watched this video you will not fall foul of any of
03:41these mistakes and be one step ahead of anyone who's not watched this video. Have
03:46I missed any? Are there any glaring ones I've forgotten about? Let me know in the
03:49comments below, but for now from Peter Milton, see you next time.
