Kroger Chairman and CEO Rodney McMullen has resigned following an internal investigation into his personal conduct, which violated the company’s business ethics policy. The grocery chain stated that the matter was unrelated to its financial performance, operations, or reporting and did not involve Kroger associates. McMullen started at Kroger in 1978 as a part-time clerk and has led the company since 2014. His departure follows Kroger’s failed merger with Albertsons, which was blocked in December.
