FBI New York Field Office head James Dennehy was forced to retire on Monday after urging agents to dig in. His retirement took place following Trump administration efforts to remove senior FBI leaders and seek names of those who worked on January 6th cases. James Dennehy said he was told to submit his retirement papers without being given a reason. Sources said he was given the choice to resign or be fired and has now officially retired. Trump has vowed to fire agents involved in Jan. 6 cases, while interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin has demoted key prosecutors handling cases against Trump supporters.
