00:00:00Is this not the most wonderful little vignette?
00:00:03I've got my sweet peas to the right of me.
00:00:06I've got wonderful little bits and pieces for my kitchen.
00:00:09It's just the artwork.
00:00:11I love this little vignette so much.
00:00:12Sorry, it's Friday.
00:00:14And today is spring install day.
00:00:16And I really don't think that there is any day
00:00:18more optimistic, more hope-filled, more wonderful,
00:00:22more exciting than this day.
00:00:24And it is extra special this year
00:00:27because I can't quite believe I'm saying this,
00:00:30but Mr. Millen-Gordon is going to be joining us
00:00:33for the spring install.
00:00:35I think I might have converted him
00:00:37and his little heart to an evergreen heart.
00:00:41I think he had so much fun with all of the stuff
00:00:43that we did when we were foraging
00:00:45at the beginning of the year.
00:00:46I think he's kind of wanting to get himself involved
00:00:49a little bit more with these things.
00:00:51And I'm not someone that's ever going to like
00:00:53force someone to do something like that.
00:00:55I always hope, and I think it's the same with my videos,
00:00:58I want to like show people rather than tell people,
00:01:01I want to show people how to live a lovely life
00:01:04or change their thoughts or whatever.
00:01:07And I think that Ali has sat front row
00:01:10at all of the things that I've learned over the years
00:01:12and the things that I started to practice,
00:01:14the things that I started doing unconsciously
00:01:16because these spring installs were such an unconscious thing
00:01:20that I started.
00:01:21I just wanted my home to look lovely
00:01:22on a superficial level to begin with.
00:01:24I just wanted to make it look
00:01:27very, very beautiful all the time.
00:01:29And now I actually do this more.
00:01:31It's almost like a self-care thing.
00:01:33Dressing my home in this way gives me a sense of renewal,
00:01:36a sense of hope, a sense of joy.
00:01:39I enjoy the potting up process.
00:01:41I enjoy the time that I get to spend with Gemma.
00:01:43And now I'm going to enjoy the time
00:01:46that I get to spend with my husband as well.
00:01:48I enjoy being able to help a business like Hello Petal
00:01:50because I think what Gemma does is fantastic.
00:01:52And I think Gemma is fantastic.
00:01:55And so it's one of those things that I'm like,
00:01:56even though today doesn't feel particularly spring-like,
00:02:00I have to be honest, the sun is trying to come through.
00:02:03At the moment in England, it's like,
00:02:05it's just been a very, very thick layer of cloud.
00:02:08This is, you can see the breaks in the cloud a little bit.
00:02:11And so you might look right now,
00:02:13the sun is trying its most to come through
00:02:16and let us feel its presence.
00:02:20But unfortunately, it's just one of those days.
00:02:22It's quite windy out there, but it's the perfect spring day.
00:02:26It doesn't quite know what it's doing
00:02:28and I'm totally okay with that.
00:02:29So Gemma will be arriving soon.
00:02:31If you watched my last video,
00:02:32you would have seen that I had just put the sourdough
00:02:35into the oven.
00:02:36It is in the oven now.
00:02:38And I will have to update you on how that goes.
00:02:42But today we're doing the big install.
00:02:46It is basically going to be packing down
00:02:48everything for winter.
00:02:49So the pieces that we foraged
00:02:51are going to be sadly popped away
00:02:54or even burnt for mulch in the garden.
00:02:57We're going to be taking the garland over the cooker.
00:02:59We're going to be doing new pots,
00:03:02really having a wonderful extravaganza in the home.
00:03:06And what fills my heart with so much joy
00:03:10is seeing how many other people now do this
00:03:12because it's a strange thing to live your life
00:03:17and not know you're doing things when you're doing them.
00:03:20And then seeing other people going,
00:03:21oh, I like the look of that.
00:03:22And then them starting doing it as well.
00:03:24It's a little bit of joy that you get to spread
00:03:27and you don't really,
00:03:28you can often wonder if you're ever sort of
00:03:30doing anything good in this career.
00:03:32And whilst I try my best to be a good person,
00:03:36but also support as many charities as I possibly can.
00:03:40Sometimes you want to see like the tangible impact
00:03:44and just seeing how many people now get their pots,
00:03:47dress their home, even if it's just one pot.
00:03:49I think that's the thing that I don't think you realise.
00:03:52If you've never purchased anything from Gemma before,
00:03:55I just want you to know that if you just purchase one kit
00:03:59and just one pot for your kitchen or something like that,
00:04:02or for your downstairs loo or for your bedroom
00:04:04or whatever it is, your living room,
00:04:05one place that you just want to add a little bit of joy,
00:04:08I think try it.
00:04:10You don't even have to do it with Gemma if you don't want to.
00:04:13You might have a pot lying around.
00:04:14You could go and grab something from the garden, whatever.
00:04:18I think once you do it and you experience it
00:04:21and you really pay attention to how you feel when you do it,
00:04:25when it's there, every time you see it,
00:04:27the fruits of your labour, that's when you start joining.
00:04:31All right, Porter, yes, yes, yes.
00:04:34That's when you start joining the dots
00:04:36of how things in life make you feel.
00:04:39I'm going to stop the video there.
00:04:40I'm going to greet Gemma and I'm going to help her
00:04:42bring all of the bits and pieces in
00:04:43so that we can start the spring install.
00:04:46It was, in actual fact, not Gemma.
00:04:48It was the post lady, so a few little bits of post writing,
00:04:50but the sun, you can see the sun.
00:04:52Look, you can see it on my face there.
00:04:56The moment that it comes through, you're just like,
00:04:58that is what optimism is all about.
00:05:02But yes, I will link all of Gemma's bits and pieces
00:05:05in the description box down below.
00:05:06She does lots of different things.
00:05:08She does wedding flowers.
00:05:10She does the pot kit.
00:05:12She does wreath kits.
00:05:13We're going to be doing a wreath today as well.
00:05:15And we're doing the whole shebang dressing,
00:05:17the living room, the kitchen, the hallway.
00:05:21I think we might even be doing the terrace
00:05:23a little bit as well,
00:05:23although it may not be the day for that,
00:05:25but we'll get them potted up in situ anyway.
00:05:28I basically decided after I went to Burford that day
00:05:31that I wanted to add magnolia branches.
00:05:34I'm going to ask Gemma if I'm going to be able
00:05:35to reorder them, because I think it's going to be something
00:05:37that I keep wanting to have in the house.
00:05:40But this is so exciting.
00:05:42This is such an exciting day.
00:05:45And I can't believe it's finally here.
00:05:47I feel like I've been putting this off for such a long time
00:05:50because it's so easy to really want to race forward
00:05:54to spring, but I've tried my best to embrace midwinter
00:05:57and enjoy it.
00:05:58And I think I've done a really good job this year.
00:06:00Right, Gemma's here.
00:06:01The sun is out and we are about to start the pack down.
00:06:06So this garland is going to go.
00:06:08These foraged flowers that we did where we live
00:06:12and the foraged flowers in here.
00:06:14And we're going to do a big pot up in the greenhouse,
00:06:17which is going to be lovely to spend some time out there.
00:06:18I'm going to light the fire and it's going to be wonderful.
00:06:21Gemma is bringing in the foliage.
00:06:26Oh, it looks so pretty.
00:06:28Say some Greek stuff.
00:06:29Oh wow, yes.
00:06:31Oh gosh, yeah.
00:06:32How exciting.
00:06:33I'm making a wreath as well.
00:06:34Good.
00:06:36Porty, it's not for sausage dogs.
00:06:39Porty, oh.
00:06:41You've had your time in the spotlight of foraging
00:06:43in things that are not for you.
00:06:45Oh wow.
00:06:47And that looks really nice.
00:06:48So I showed you my inspiration images for the wreath
00:06:54and Gemma is not convinced.
00:06:56I think you're going to love it.
00:06:58And I've got just the little pots.
00:07:00I think it's cute.
00:07:02Cute is spring.
00:07:04Look at Pora.
00:07:05The look.
00:07:07I think Gemma's next to the Aston Martin.
00:07:11She's like, I've got to carry all of this stuff past here.
00:07:14No, I think that will be lovely.
00:07:16I love that.
00:07:16Yeah.
00:07:17But also.
00:07:18It's not cheap though, is it?
00:07:19Well, it's rustic.
00:07:20It's rustic.
00:07:21But I think for a little pop of colour in the spring wreath.
00:07:24Yeah, but we don't need the pots.
00:07:26I think we should just give it a go.
00:07:29Give it a go.
00:07:31Gemma has just told me that I'm going to love this.
00:07:34So I think she's coming in
00:07:35with the Magnolia that I requested.
00:07:37Oh yeah.
00:07:38Yeah?
00:07:39Yeah, absolutely.
00:07:40That looks fantastic.
00:07:42And they probably will open.
00:07:43Yeah.
00:07:44But I mean, I think closed.
00:07:46I love them.
00:07:48Can you sell these?
00:07:49Yeah, I did a couple of years ago actually.
00:07:51Yeah, I think-
00:07:52Because I would buy repeat ones.
00:07:54It's just finding,
00:07:57it's just the packaging more than anything.
00:07:59Because those are very, those are a metre.
00:08:01Yeah.
00:08:02I've got some 60 centimetres coming as well.
00:08:04Hello, Lummy.
00:08:06Coming to join the girls.
00:08:08Right through the centre.
00:08:10Tonight, Matthew, I'm going to be.
00:08:12Yeah, so that would be really lovely for like here.
00:08:17Yeah.
00:08:18And some little pots and things like that around it.
00:08:20And then the other one, yeah.
00:08:21Because I mean, obviously you could do the 60 centimetre one
00:08:23but if I can, can I buy more throughout the spring
00:08:27so that I can have,
00:08:28so that when it's no longer like doing whatever.
00:08:30It will literally stay like that.
00:08:34Oh.
00:08:34Unless it's got water.
00:08:35Those are just buds that then will dry.
00:08:37Ah.
00:08:38They'll just stay.
00:08:39Well, I might try and see if I can get some of them
00:08:40to bloom this time.
00:08:41And then I'll just buy some,
00:08:43if I can buy more from you.
00:08:45That's amazing.
00:08:45So we just stood here and we're setting up
00:08:48to do a wreath making little extravaganza in the kitchen.
00:08:52And we're getting the quail's eggs into a bowl.
00:08:56And Ali picks up one of the quail's-
00:08:58How do they get the quail out of that?
00:09:00That's exactly what he said.
00:09:01Okay, how do they get-
00:09:02It has a tiny little hole for a quail to fit through.
00:09:04Are you joking?
00:09:06He's-
00:09:06He's still in place, not a bit respectful of you.
00:09:08I hadn't thought.
00:09:10I like, honestly, it's a good job you're beautiful.
00:09:13You're really good, Jemmy.
00:09:16And also, can we show the outfit?
00:09:18I was just about to say,
00:09:19it's a good job you know how to dress like your wife.
00:09:20Yeah, exactly.
00:09:21Come on, my love, show them the outfit.
00:09:24So I just want to say, I got dressed first this morning.
00:09:26No, you didn't, Jemmy.
00:09:27You didn't, Ali, you didn't.
00:09:30So he took the roll neck off.
00:09:33Yeah, because when she put hers on, I was like, come on.
00:09:37He walked downstairs, he's like,
00:09:38is that a thirties belt you're wearing?
00:09:40And I was like, no, it's brown.
00:09:41He's like, I've got one of them.
00:09:45But we are setting up to,
00:09:47oh, are you showing the outfit?
00:09:48Yes, wonderful, wonderful outfit,
00:09:50backlit that you can't see.
00:09:52Also, what's going on with your belt buckle?
00:09:55There we go.
00:09:56It's hard work, things get moved.
00:09:58Yes, so Ali is wearing the men's equivalent of my outfit.
00:10:01Those trousers are very nice.
00:10:02Where are they from?
00:10:03Massimo Tutti.
00:10:04I thought they were going to be there.
00:10:05Anyway, we are setting up for wreath making,
00:10:08and this is the wreath that we're going to make.
00:10:10Now I have been suggesting putting little pots in,
00:10:12just to make a feature out of it.
00:10:13I do think this is very lovely though.
00:10:16It is very, very lovely.
00:10:19It looks very, very spring-like,
00:10:21and look at that sunshine.
00:10:24Oh.
00:10:26What's this?
00:10:27That's flaspy, and it's probably not your tone.
00:10:33Flaspy?
00:10:34You're correct there.
00:10:35It's very flaspy.
00:10:36Fandavidozze.
00:10:38Let's just make it look better.
00:10:39Let's just make it look better, yeah?
00:10:41All I want to do is do it.
00:10:43Pick up, pick up, all I want to do is do it.
00:10:46It's so, I'm like-
00:10:47Stop checking it.
00:10:48No, no, no, no.
00:10:49Ali, have you seen that David Walliams
00:10:52and Matt Lucas have started a podcast?
00:10:53Yes.
00:10:54And it's so funny,
00:10:56the only thing is like,
00:10:57I thought you were cancelled.
00:10:58Oh, yeah, I've seen that.
00:10:59Yeah, it's like,
00:11:01oh, I thought you were cancelled.
00:11:03He's like, no, no, no,
00:11:03when you're cancelled twice,
00:11:04it doesn't mean you're cancelled anymore.
00:11:06I was like, hard relate.
00:11:12Contenders, are you ready?
00:11:15Gladiators, are you ready?
00:11:20Okay.
00:11:21Okay.
00:11:22Right, okay.
00:11:24So, and I'm just going to take you through it, yeah?
00:11:26Yes.
00:11:27Okay, so first of all,
00:11:29we get our binding wire,
00:11:32and we bind it onto the wreath ring.
00:11:36So you're starting off by wrapping it round a few times
00:11:41to sort of cast on,
00:11:43and then you're going over and under.
00:11:46All the way around.
00:11:47All the way around,
00:11:48and I can zig-zag it kind of.
00:11:51Is it all coming back to you?
00:11:53It's all coming back,
00:11:55it's all coming back to me now.
00:11:58Cool.
00:11:59And then we're going in with the mask.
00:12:01I'm really impressed with your speed and agility.
00:12:03Yeah, thank you.
00:12:04I've got a lot to learn.
00:12:05That is, that's the speed we needed.
00:12:07Okay.
00:12:08I'm sorry, I'm going,
00:12:09well, I'm also being filmed,
00:12:10so I was trying to look good.
00:12:12Yeah, this looks good.
00:12:13People like speed and agility,
00:12:14they don't want to sit around
00:12:15and watch you slowly wrap a proper ring.
00:12:17I don't think we should invite him again.
00:12:18Well, it's very tight.
00:12:20I know, that's why I asked!
00:12:22I said, reasonably spaced out.
00:12:24What did that mean?
00:12:26The zig-zag is spaced out, but it's tight.
00:12:28Well, too late now.
00:12:29Well, you should remember for Christmas.
00:12:31I can't remember.
00:12:33It's because you're drunk again.
00:12:34Drunk on life.
00:12:38Okay, so now you're going to take your sphagnum moss
00:12:41in clumps,
00:12:43lay it on top of your binding wire, zig-zags,
00:12:47and then carry on binding round.
00:12:53Don't even think about moaning at me.
00:12:56Me?
00:12:57Yeah.
00:12:58Oh, no, I wasn't.
00:12:59I was just going to say, I was going to say you're...
00:13:00Yeah.
00:13:03I'm making it chunky.
00:13:04I like them big.
00:13:05I like them big.
00:13:06I like them round.
00:13:07I like them chunky.
00:13:09Right, so what do I do now?
00:13:10Okay, now we're going to start
00:13:11to cut up all the foliages.
00:13:13Okay, so let's cut down the pistachio.
00:13:16We're going to cut down all the individual foliages
00:13:18and put them in piles.
00:13:20Okay.
00:13:21Okay.
00:13:22And then that will make it really easy
00:13:23when we start to put our posies in.
00:13:25It creates quite a nice body.
00:13:27It's quite full.
00:13:29So you're thinking...
00:13:30So you're kind of looking at...
00:13:31Like that.
00:13:32Yeah.
00:13:33And then pop it in a pile.
00:13:35Further speed.
00:13:36Now we're cooking with gas.
00:13:38Now we've got the big guns in.
00:13:40Oh, yeah.
00:13:42Now we'll move on to the school room.
00:13:45So for that one, you take it there, there.
00:13:49Oh, right, okay.
00:13:50I've got more than one piece.
00:13:51The amount of wreath classes that Lidia's done remains.
00:13:54In the last four years?
00:13:56Yeah.
00:13:57I've done many wreath classes,
00:14:00but I did lots of them before lockdown.
00:14:03And before lockdown, I really wasn't that interested.
00:14:06You hadn't met me before lockdown.
00:14:07No.
00:14:08And I wasn't doing house stuff.
00:14:12Wow.
00:14:13Enter Gemma.
00:14:15Enter Gemma.
00:14:16Right, let's go.
00:14:16Enter the dragon.
00:14:17Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun.
00:14:19Okay, try not to get upset, but this is eucalyptus.
00:14:23Yeah, but I like that.
00:14:24Yeah, you're okay with that.
00:14:25I'm okay with that eucalyptus.
00:14:26Because it's not like Mediterranean-y.
00:14:29No.
00:14:30No.
00:14:31So this is eucalyptus parthenifolia.
00:14:40Okay, right.
00:14:42Let's go to the ralphie.
00:14:44Right, okay, let's go to the phalaspie now.
00:14:47Phalaspie.
00:14:48Phalaspie.
00:14:48So, we now need to take little sections of all of our pearls
00:14:53and create a little cozy to then bind to the wreath.
00:14:57And then, if you remember from Christmas,
00:14:59we're going in the same direction.
00:15:01Yeah.
00:15:02Do you remember?
00:15:03Just make sure when you're binding,
00:15:04you're going really tight.
00:15:05Yeah.
00:15:06And like, nothing's gonna break.
00:15:07Yeah.
00:15:08Just because otherwise it's gonna all fall off.
00:15:10So we do a little bit of that.
00:15:10Yeah.
00:15:11Just because otherwise it's gonna all fall off.
00:15:13So we're doing little posies
00:15:14and all the different posies.
00:15:15Yeah.
00:15:16So, as you'll see though, there's less of those
00:15:19because that's just a little touch of white.
00:15:21There's probably enough for one or two of those
00:15:24in each posy.
00:15:25That there's plenty of.
00:15:27This there's plenty of.
00:15:28Plenty little touches.
00:15:30Okay, so what we're going to want to do
00:15:32is get a posy and like add one touch of white.
00:15:35Then leave it out from a posy maybe.
00:15:37Yeah.
00:15:38And then put it back.
00:15:39Because we've obviously got loads of bulbs
00:15:42going in at the end.
00:15:43Yeah, okay.
00:15:44So if you feel like, oh there's a gap,
00:15:46there won't be.
00:15:47Okay.
00:15:47Because we'll fill it with the bulbs.
00:15:49It's a living wreath.
00:15:50It is a living wreath.
00:15:51And then you can plant them in the garden.
00:15:53Meow.
00:15:56Say hello.
00:15:57Meow.
00:15:58What's the matter?
00:15:59I went watching,
00:16:00so I'm gonna put one of those up.
00:16:01Meow.
00:16:02Say hello.
00:16:03And these ones go at the front on top.
00:16:05Lonnie.
00:16:06Which ones?
00:16:07Why are you not being involved with the girls?
00:16:10You don't want to be there, do you?
00:16:11This.
00:16:11Yeah.
00:16:12This.
00:16:14So, twist it like that so it goes to 12 o'clock.
00:16:17No.
00:16:18No?
00:16:19That needs to be your new nine o'clock.
00:16:21Okay.
00:16:22And I can cut these down, can't I?
00:16:24Yeah, you can cut those off, yeah.
00:16:26Put that down.
00:16:27And then we're twisting again.
00:16:29So our binding wire.
00:16:30Is always at nine o'clock.
00:16:31Okay, perfect.
00:16:32Right, let's go.
00:16:33Let's go.
00:16:35Woo!
00:16:35Quiet.
00:16:36Okay.
00:16:37Sorry.
00:16:38What did you think it was?
00:16:39An ant.
00:16:41So you're okay with spiders now,
00:16:42but it's the ant.
00:16:44It's just not on me.
00:16:45It can never be on me.
00:16:48Professional.
00:16:49I think I ruined this a bit.
00:16:50What?
00:16:51Nothing.
00:16:52Missed a bit there.
00:16:53So we can just put the whole set on once.
00:16:55Okay.
00:17:04So, if you break up your bulbs,
00:17:06like, literally, you can be brutal.
00:17:09You're about to.
00:17:09Break them up.
00:17:10Break them up.
00:17:11And then you literally stick the wire up the top.
00:17:13That's a good idea.
00:17:15I'm sorry, I think I've done a really good job.
00:17:17That's amazing.
00:17:18Really great.
00:17:18Just like.
00:17:19You're kind of going around in the same direction.
00:17:23Yeah, like, like that.
00:17:25And see if you can feel,
00:17:26I can't feel it behind,
00:17:26so it won't scratch the door.
00:17:28Okay.
00:17:29So I'm going to do the same thing.
00:17:29I'm going to do the same thing.
00:17:30I'm going to do the same thing.
00:17:31I'm going to do the same thing.
00:17:32Okay.
00:17:34So you're kind of, so, and then.
00:17:35Keeping it the same direction as that.
00:17:36Yeah, keep it the same direction.
00:17:37Okay.
00:17:43So this is the wreath that Gemma has made for me,
00:17:47because I like things a little bit twiggy and woody,
00:17:49because there is still so much of that outside.
00:17:52It's got bulbs in it as well,
00:17:53which means that it's going to be really reflective
00:17:55of what's happening outside.
00:17:57However, the kit that we have just made
00:17:59is a lot more luscious and green,
00:18:01which is definitely now that it's warming up,
00:18:04going to be seen much more outside.
00:18:06And what I would say is when you get your kit,
00:18:09it comes with the bulbs like this,
00:18:11which for me, I want it like this.
00:18:13I don't want it to look further ahead
00:18:15than the rest of the garden.
00:18:17I want this to bloom as the garden blooms.
00:18:19And I just love the way that bulbs look.
00:18:21They just look so rustic
00:18:23and they add that really lovely countryside feel
00:18:26that I think myself and a lot of my audience
00:18:29really, really enjoys.
00:18:31So I'll link to the kits down below
00:18:33because they're so much fun.
00:18:34Like, think about it this way.
00:18:36If you're thinking about doing something
00:18:38with your team at work or something,
00:18:40you want to do a bit of bonding or whatever,
00:18:42if you were to buy five of these kits
00:18:44and do it when you've got an opportunity
00:18:46or wherever you've got an opportunity,
00:18:47it's such a fun and productive way.
00:18:49And your team leave with something tangible
00:18:52that makes them kind of feel
00:18:53like they've done something really good
00:18:55and gets them excited for the next season.
00:18:58So it's a massive win, win, win.
00:19:01So we're just going to finish up in here
00:19:02and then we're going to move on to packing down the house
00:19:05and potting up.
00:19:07Now we are ready to start actually dressing the house
00:19:10and I've got my beautiful mossy green apron on, ready to go.
00:19:16And Ali has his on as well.
00:19:17He's got the half apron.
00:19:19These are both pure linen.
00:19:21I think that's really good.
00:19:22You look like you work at the bull at Chalbury.
00:19:28Oh really?
00:19:29Yeah, because they all have like that colour.
00:19:30And they quite have brown trousers.
00:19:32Yeah, and yeah, that's a really nice look.
00:19:35I like that.
00:19:36It's a good look, strong look.
00:19:37Very good and also helpful to have,
00:19:39but also such beautiful material.
00:19:41So I'll link these down below, but now it's time.
00:19:43Barclay, do you think you're leaving home?
00:19:46Do you think you're leaving home, my love?
00:19:48I think you should probably get back in the house.
00:19:50Hello, Marple.
00:19:55I don't know who it is.
00:19:57Are you okay, Marple?
00:19:58Ali is now removing the garland.
00:20:01First and foremost, you always remove things
00:20:03that are very valuable.
00:20:05I have to be honest.
00:20:10Oh, this feels like it's going to be a cleansing.
00:20:12Oh, this needs to come out as well.
00:20:21Oh, you're so empty.
00:20:22Oh.
00:20:26Winter has left the kitchen,
00:20:30which is incredibly exciting.
00:20:32And we have said goodbye to our favourite arrangement ever,
00:20:37I think, in that corner.
00:20:38I absolutely loved it.
00:20:39We're having a big leaf clean of everything
00:20:42and just a sort out.
00:20:44Let's head into the greenhouse and start potting.
00:20:46We have our audience here doing all of the hard work.
00:20:50Oh, long shoes.
00:20:52Yes, Monsieur Sausage.
00:20:55Madame is supervising.
00:20:57You happy cat.
00:20:59You may strike me.
00:21:01The chickens are very kindly modelling our woodland for us.
00:21:05As you can see, the carpet of snowdrops
00:21:08are out in full force.
00:21:10Snowdrop is loving it herself.
00:21:11So what we have opted for is majority snowdrops.
00:21:15And the wonderful thing is,
00:21:16is that as the snowdrops fade in the landscape
00:21:20around wherever it is you may live,
00:21:22if you are lucky enough to have them,
00:21:24you can then swap out those bulbs
00:21:26for the next flowering bulb.
00:21:27You can pop some tulips or muscari or hyacinth or narcissi.
00:21:33And you have all of the different options with these pots.
00:21:36And you can buy refill pots from Hello Petal.
00:21:39You can obviously pick things up yourself,
00:21:40but I'm always going to support Gemma's business
00:21:43because I think what she does is so wonderful.
00:21:45And it's really great if you don't have the time
00:21:47to pop to the garden centre, buy everything you need.
00:21:50And it means that everything is delivered
00:21:51to your door ready to go.
00:21:53And I think that's, for me, as someone who is time poor,
00:21:56the real sort of joy about this
00:21:58is that it all comes ready to go.
00:21:59And it's such a fun thing to do with kids, with partners.
00:22:02It's just wonderful.
00:22:03Gemma has a plan of action for the potting,
00:22:06which I'm very happy about
00:22:07because it's made this so much easier to do.
00:22:10And what we're going to do is pot up everything
00:22:12and then put it in situ.
00:22:14So what are we looking at right now?
00:22:16So, tablescape, living room.
00:22:19Yeah.
00:22:20Dressing room.
00:22:21Which ones?
00:22:22So I'm thinking,
00:22:23tablescape, sort of the little diddy one.
00:22:24Yeah.
00:22:25With a few different pots.
00:22:26Yeah.
00:22:27And then with like moss and all that kind of thing.
00:22:29Yeah.
00:22:30And some bud vases.
00:22:31And then kitchen island.
00:22:32Yeah, love that.
00:22:33Love that, it's like a little bit of flutedness.
00:22:36And then.
00:22:37I love that you called it fluting.
00:22:38I would have gone for ribbed.
00:22:39Well, I just didn't, you want to use that word.
00:22:41Yeah.
00:22:42But yes.
00:22:43Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:22:44Very ribbed.
00:22:45But for your added pleasure.
00:22:47Dressing room, one of those.
00:22:50And then I thought we'd do an extra one just in case.
00:22:52Wonderful.
00:22:52Something.
00:22:53Yes, okay.
00:22:54Well, and when we put these in situ,
00:22:56it then gives us a really good idea
00:22:57of what we may need to do on top.
00:23:00Yeah.
00:23:01Perfect.
00:23:02Yeah.
00:23:03Let's do this.
00:23:03We're putting this into here, yeah?
00:23:05Yes.
00:23:06What is going in this one?
00:23:07Either.
00:23:08Let's put snowflakes in
00:23:09because they're a bit more,
00:23:10Yeah.
00:23:11And I would just put two sort of,
00:23:12would I separate the bulbs or just put them in?
00:23:15I would probably actually just put them in.
00:23:17So basically, it would be like making like,
00:23:20you need to take them out of the pot.
00:23:21And then pop the.
00:23:22And then fill the sort of around.
00:23:22Yeah, yeah.
00:23:23Yeah.
00:23:24Yeah.
00:23:25Yeah.
00:23:26Yeah.
00:23:27Yeah.
00:23:27Yeah.
00:23:28Yeah.
00:23:29Yeah.
00:23:30Yeah.
00:23:31Yeah.
00:23:32Yeah.
00:23:33Yeah.
00:23:33Yeah.
00:23:34Yeah.
00:23:35Yeah.
00:23:36Yeah.
00:23:37Yeah.
00:23:38Yeah.
00:23:38Yeah.
00:23:40It doesn't.
00:23:41It doesn't.
00:23:42Oh, wow.
00:23:43So not all of them together.
00:23:44Just one.
00:23:45So when you get the bulb like this,
00:23:47what you want to do is go almost like that.
00:23:49Very nice.
00:23:50A bit in like the palm of your hand.
00:23:51Almost like spaghetti.
00:23:53And then it sits just, it's just quite, yeah.
00:24:09This is fascinating.
00:24:12The way his brain works with things is just so interesting.
00:24:15Yeah, like how men pot up.
00:24:22Yeah.
00:24:24Squidward.
00:24:28Thank you, my love.
00:24:32I love that you always do this in white.
00:24:34Always.
00:24:35Gardening in white is actually what gardening is about for me.
00:24:39I've got to feel lovely when I'm gardening.
00:24:40It's the white way to do it.
00:24:42Yeah.
00:24:45So.
00:24:48So you grab some moss and you put it all like,
00:24:51so imagine it's all over.
00:24:53Okay.
00:24:55And then what you do.
00:24:57Just sort of prop it up.
00:24:58Yeah, so you, Ali,
00:25:00you put two fins either side of the bulb.
00:25:02Yeah.
00:25:03Hold the moss in place.
00:25:04You lift the bulb up and then you sit it back on top.
00:25:08Okay.
00:25:09So it creates like a bit of,
00:25:12so then it's sat, the roots is touching the compost.
00:25:15But the bulb is like elevated.
00:25:17Elevated.
00:25:18It just elevates the look, you know?
00:25:20It looks like they're coming out as well.
00:25:22So either side.
00:25:22Yeah.
00:25:24Yeah?
00:25:25Yeah.
00:25:32It's just so pretty.
00:25:39Oh, the snowdrops are gorgeous.
00:25:42Yeah.
00:25:43They look lovely.
00:25:44Okay, so now we go with the twigs.
00:25:47Twiggy, twiggy, twiggies.
00:25:49Twigs or twigs, then dry time.
00:25:52So these twigs.
00:25:53Yeah.
00:25:54So cut them down.
00:25:57Where are these going?
00:25:58Just in amongst, yeah.
00:26:01And then you kind of want them like criss-crossing.
00:26:05So we're just trying to give a little bit of body here.
00:26:07Just some support as the hellebores come up.
00:26:10They're not hellebores.
00:26:12The...
00:26:12Scurry.
00:26:13Scurry comes up.
00:26:14Scurry.
00:26:15To create...
00:26:16Scurry.
00:26:17Mascara definitely needs some sort of propping.
00:26:19So we just stick that in there.
00:26:21That'll work as a scaffolding
00:26:25for the new growth that we're going to see.
00:26:28This is the kind of garden as well
00:26:29that I want to see for him.
00:26:30And if you're just really gentle,
00:26:34you will feel the bugs being crushed
00:26:37as you stick in the twig.
00:26:41So the dry time you put in smaller.
00:26:44Yes.
00:26:44It's shorter.
00:26:45So that's more,
00:26:48you know, sitting more amongst the base of it all.
00:26:52That's the thing though with someone like him
00:26:53is that he's the type of person
00:26:55that people would want to see
00:26:57on like a gardening programme
00:26:59because he's just so lovely with it.
00:27:01These little pots here
00:27:03are what Ali and I have just been working on.
00:27:05Some little muscari and I did these snowdrops.
00:27:08I don't think you'll be able to buy these snowdrops now,
00:27:10but they will have been linked on my story.
00:27:13So it is a reason for you to head over to my Instagram
00:27:17and follow me on there
00:27:19because sometimes you will get told things on there first.
00:27:26Lining them up.
00:27:33Just the table is just so lovely.
00:27:34Yeah, I know.
00:27:35It's literally so pretty.
00:27:43So I'm just doing that.
00:27:44That feel all right to you?
00:27:45That's lovely.
00:27:46Yeah?
00:27:47Yeah, love that.
00:27:48Right, what's this one?
00:27:50That one is a mix,
00:27:51which is muscari.
00:27:52What do you think?
00:27:53Maybe just a muscari in that one.
00:27:54I was thinking that one for the dressing table.
00:28:04All done.
00:28:04Thank you very much.
00:28:17A very big hole.
00:28:18Do you want to just grab that?
00:28:22So you need a thingy, don't you?
00:28:23Yeah.
00:28:24I do have dishes down there.
00:28:26Yeah, let's walk.
00:28:27That one underneath that one there in front of you.
00:28:31Match made in heaven.
00:28:33Hey, what?
00:28:34Chickie, chickie, chickie.
00:28:35A lovely one.
00:28:38Right, time.
00:28:42Well, your pubes are like this.
00:28:44Yeah.
00:28:46It's a very sexual innuendo day.
00:28:48It has to be a sexy innuendo day.
00:28:50It's because we've got boys around.
00:28:52I'm not going to put tints in this one.
00:28:54Oh.
00:28:55No, it's just in mine,
00:28:56just because I feel like then it adds...
00:28:57Okay, to the dress.
00:28:58To the...
00:28:59Yeah, to the differences.
00:29:00Yeah, because then that contrasts a bit
00:29:03with the promoters as well.
00:29:04Oh, I just thought of one.
00:29:05That literally looks like happiness.
00:29:06Yeah.
00:29:07Does it?
00:29:09Ally Titchmarsh.
00:29:10Ha ha ha ha ha.
00:29:16It's on, it's on, it's on.
00:29:17Ally Titchmarsh.
00:29:22What are you doing?
00:29:24It's kind of like you can't really mess it up.
00:29:27It's supposed to not look perfect.
00:29:29It looks like perfectly imperfect,
00:29:31which is kind of, I think, why I love this so much,
00:29:33because that's what I like about interiors,
00:29:35that things that just sort of happen and are beautiful,
00:29:38even though, obviously, you put in lots of effort here.
00:29:42Gemma is just getting an over-the-table shot
00:29:44of everything that we've done.
00:29:45It's looking so good.
00:29:48Oh my goodness.
00:29:49So it's the Muscari and the Narcissi
00:29:51that's going to be for sale on the website as kits.
00:29:54Amazing.
00:29:55I will link them down below.
00:29:56Then this is part of the tablescape,
00:29:58and I'm just about to load everything
00:30:00into my little wheelbarrow.
00:30:08That is the cutest shot on it.
00:30:12Yeah, I'll make a bit.
00:30:14That's very cute.
00:30:17Look at this handsome man.
00:30:20Tea and toast with the ladies.
00:30:23Unbelievable service going on here today.
00:30:25Who?
00:30:26Homemade sourdough, honey from the bees.
00:30:30So pardon all of the mess,
00:30:31but this is how Barclay gets when his brother,
00:30:34when he's on his own.
00:30:35I've never known anything like it.
00:30:38He shakes.
00:30:39You can't go with him, my love.
00:30:41You can't go with him.
00:30:43I know.
00:30:44He'll be back soon.
00:30:47Oh, pop it.
00:30:49I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know.
00:30:54I know.
00:30:55It's okay, it's okay.
00:30:58In your bed.
00:31:00I know.
00:31:01Oh my God.
00:31:03Oh my God, I know.
00:31:09Barky.
00:31:11So this is the tablecloth that we have gone for.
00:31:13This is an old H&M one.
00:31:15I've got two, one that's in more of like a taupey colour
00:31:17and one that is this like lighter sage green.
00:31:21We're going to add some moss, add some bud vases,
00:31:23just still keep that twiggy element
00:31:25that is still very much present outside.
00:31:27And this colour, the yellows, the blues,
00:31:31there's going to be whites, the primrose.
00:31:33Oh, it's just gorgeous.
00:31:43Oh my goodness me.
00:31:45I think this is my most favourite spring table
00:31:48that we have ever done.
00:31:49I've used the candles that were sent from Velvet Victoria
00:31:52and Gemma has described them so perfectly.
00:31:55These are like the perfect Bertioli shade of green.
00:31:59And I love this table so, so much.
00:32:03It's a spring extravaganza.
00:32:05We've got little quail's eggs in here as well,
00:32:09just to add that little touch, but it's looking amazing.
00:32:12So we've gone for some white Muscari on the ottoman.
00:32:16And over here, Gemma has allowed me to create
00:32:18a little bit of a like potting table for my sweet peas.
00:32:22But also we've popped on the snowdrops here,
00:32:26which I think is so lovely
00:32:27because this particular window looks out
00:32:29right onto the snowdrops, which is so nice.
00:32:32So Gemma's allowed me to have my little table like this.
00:32:35And then she is working away in the corner
00:32:37with the magnolia and I love it.
00:32:40It is absolutely gorgeous.
00:32:42I love how it creates those shadows.
00:32:43Yeah.
00:32:46Really lovely.
00:32:48My love, come here.
00:32:50You're being very good.
00:32:53You are being so good.
00:32:56Yeah, you get in your bed.
00:32:57Oh, you smell your brother.
00:33:00He's coming back.
00:33:01He's coming back.
00:33:04He's coming back.
00:33:07I know.
00:33:10I know you're a bit worried about what's going on, aren't you?
00:33:15It's okay.
00:33:16You'll be back soon and you'll forget this even happened.
00:33:21Give me pigtails.
00:33:23Give me pigtails.
00:33:24Mm-hmm.
00:33:27Oh.
00:33:29Barkie, your brother is home.
00:33:33He's home.
00:33:35You haven't even realised yet.
00:33:39You're gonna fit.
00:33:40Don't worry, you're all right.
00:33:41We're gonna film the reunion.
00:33:44Barkie.
00:33:45Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark.
00:33:48It went straight past him.
00:33:53Barkie, we knew this.
00:33:56Barkie, for goodness sake.
00:33:58Barkie was beside himself,
00:34:01so we thought that there was gonna be some big reunion
00:34:03and they both ran past each other.
00:34:06You ran for your money.
00:34:07Well, this is not the scene
00:34:09that I thought I was gonna show you.
00:34:10The weather turned so quickly that it just went dark
00:34:15and didn't feel like spring at all.
00:34:18I actually can't believe that one of these
00:34:19is already starting to open
00:34:21and we only potted it up a few hours ago.
00:34:24So I'm gonna wait
00:34:25and I'm gonna show you everything in better daylight.
00:34:29The sad thing is that the hops that arrived
00:34:33were not right at all,
00:34:34so I'm gonna have to send those back
00:34:35and hope that they can send another one.
00:34:38But so that I can get the box out of the hallway,
00:34:42I would quickly unbox my second Valentine's Day gift
00:34:49from Ali.
00:34:50He obviously got pants.
00:34:51I lucked out.
00:34:53Because I always have a list of things
00:34:55that I would like as gifts
00:34:56because people always say how hard it is to buy for me
00:34:59and he doesn't do that.
00:35:00So I'm gonna get the box open.
00:35:02Basically, I need to tell you a little bit.
00:35:03I'm definitely getting walking boots.
00:35:05Oh yes, Ali wants walking boots
00:35:07after our wonderful trip through the Cotswolds,
00:35:10he wants walking boots.
00:35:12That is true.
00:35:14So I don't know what part of the present this is
00:35:17because there's multiple parts.
00:35:18I think it's almost like a five piece set.
00:35:21But basically what I want to do,
00:35:23especially now that I am making sourdough,
00:35:26one of the things I want to do this summer
00:35:28is have a little bistro table
00:35:30that I can set up somewhere in the garden
00:35:32or even just leave there.
00:35:34And when I have people over,
00:35:36have like an afternoon tea set up,
00:35:37even like for me and Carrie.
00:35:38Carrie and I love afternoon tea.
00:35:41And imagine us making our own afternoon tea
00:35:43and sitting in the garden and enjoying it that way.
00:35:46I think we'd probably enjoy that
00:35:49like a million times more
00:35:51than going to fancy places in London.
00:35:53So what I asked for was a two person afternoon tea set
00:35:57for the garden.
00:35:59And this is the sets that they have.
00:36:02I think it's the same set that they have at time
00:36:06in the Cotswolds.
00:36:07And so I searched high and low
00:36:08and I thought, you know what?
00:36:09Nothing is going to feel more at home for us than that.
00:36:13And it's green and it will look lovely.
00:36:15And I just thought I'd really enjoy laying it out.
00:36:17So this is my first ever afternoon tea set.
00:36:21But I definitely think this is not the full set
00:36:24because it's way too light.
00:36:25I won't be like, well, there's so many of these.
00:36:27Who knows?
00:36:28There's some bits and pieces in here.
00:36:30What have we got?
00:36:31So this is from Burley Pottery.
00:36:33And I really wanted it
00:36:34because I looked at sort of like a duo afternoon tea set.
00:36:38And I looked at an Hermes one,
00:36:39but I really wanted this to be a British afternoon tea set.
00:36:43You know me well enough by now.
00:36:45And because afternoon tea is so...
00:36:46Oh, it's my teapot.
00:36:48So I went for a four person teapot.
00:36:51I didn't go for a big one
00:36:52because I just thought, to be truthful,
00:36:56we're only going to have a little bit of tea.
00:36:57Okay.
00:36:58We're going to have mostly champagne.
00:36:59So that was my thought process.
00:37:03But we went for the Asiatic,
00:37:08Asiatic pheasant.
00:37:11So it's this lovely little green motif.
00:37:16But as you can see, there are little pheasants in there.
00:37:18And I thought with it being our garden,
00:37:20that makes perfect sense.
00:37:21I think this is a nice little size.
00:37:23Although it doesn't look like
00:37:24that would do four cups of tea, does it?
00:37:27Must be very small cups of tea.
00:37:28Anyway, next up,
00:37:31we have cups and saucers.
00:37:36So this is like a full set.
00:37:38So you have your little sandwich plate
00:37:40for sandwiches and cakes.
00:37:42And then your tea set sits on top.
00:37:46And then you've got your little,
00:37:48maybe this is the full set.
00:37:50They said that there was like
00:37:50an eight week wait for this.
00:37:52So I'm shocked that it is,
00:37:54but it may well be.
00:37:57Oh, it's so pretty.
00:37:59I love it so much.
00:38:02I just thought, how lovely would it be
00:38:04to make the bread for your own sandwiches,
00:38:07whether they're sourdough
00:38:08or Carrie can obviously make
00:38:10gluten-free bread herself.
00:38:13And we can bring,
00:38:13like come together and make our own afternoon tea,
00:38:17make a cake, make scones.
00:38:19That's my next thing that I need to master.
00:38:21I think I'm not doing too badly
00:38:23with the old sourdough,
00:38:26but yeah, even making our own butter,
00:38:30just, and then getting like wine.
00:38:31There's a few vineyards close by
00:38:33that we found recently.
00:38:34A little sugar bowl.
00:38:36How cute is that?
00:38:39I think it is the whole set.
00:38:41So I've got a little sugar bowl,
00:38:42a little milk jug as well.
00:38:44I didn't want anything too big
00:38:45because I expect that the table will be fairly small
00:38:49and we can just set it up
00:38:51wherever the sun is shining in the garden
00:38:54and have a wonderful homemade afternoon tea.
00:39:00No tea?
00:39:02No, you can't have...
00:39:03Having everything set up for a tea party.
00:39:05No, Carrie and I have obviously had the best afternoon teas
00:39:08when we have it in the,
00:39:10no, she wants the little corn chips.
00:39:14When we have afternoon tea in the boat at Ballythin,
00:39:17but when we've gone to like fancy places in London,
00:39:19we're always like,
00:39:20I mean, it's not that great
00:39:21because we're around other people and that kind of thing.
00:39:23You've got to remember as well.
00:39:24Yeah, so I thought if we were to make
00:39:25our own afternoon tea and have it
00:39:27and drink and enjoy it ourselves in our own gardens,
00:39:30how lovely would that be?
00:39:32I'm upset.
00:39:34You certainly wouldn't be disappointed with the...
00:39:36Corn chips.
00:39:37You'd be so...
00:39:38Because you can't be upset with yourself.
00:39:39Exactly.
00:39:41This is the little teapot case, Sam.
00:39:43Lovely.
00:39:44How cute is that?
00:39:45Yeah.
00:39:46It would have been nice to have mini jugs underneath.
00:39:48That comes off as a sticker.
00:39:50Yeah, I was just saying.
00:39:52Ha, ha, ha.
00:40:00Goodness me.
00:40:04The oven is on
00:40:06and we are waiting for our guests to arrive.
00:40:08Basically we've got,
00:40:10we're having Caribbean night
00:40:11and we're having Ken, his partner, Joe
00:40:14and Ken's son, Graham over.
00:40:17And basically we've got an absolute feast.
00:40:20I am so looking forward to this.
00:40:23We've talked about doing this for such a long time
00:40:25and so I'm really looking forward to it
00:40:26being like the first time we do this
00:40:28but they're also all staying over.
00:40:29Puppy dogs are very happy now.
00:40:31And yeah, I've just had such a lovely week
00:40:35and I was thinking about this with Gemma
00:40:37and we were having a chat about it
00:40:38and it's just, for me, it is so nice
00:40:41to come on my YouTube channel and learn with you.
00:40:46Does that make sense?
00:40:48I think sometimes it can be a bit daunting
00:40:52learning something new.
00:40:53I think so many people are taught
00:40:55so many things at an early age
00:40:58and I was taught so many things
00:41:00but there's also a lot of things that I was not taught.
00:41:03And so being able to have Charlie here
00:41:05earlier on in the week teaching me how to make sourdough,
00:41:08I've had my sourdough, it is delicious.
00:41:10So now my next hurdle is to get my sourdough starter
00:41:15to the place where it needs to be
00:41:16and then also undertake an entire sourdough loaf
00:41:20without her there, so just on the notes basically.
00:41:25And I love showing you guys that it's okay
00:41:28not to know something but to also need to learn it.
00:41:32I think there's sometimes quite a huge amount of pressure
00:41:35to come on and be like, I know everything
00:41:37and I'm going to teach you everything
00:41:39when in actual fact, sometimes there's going to be things
00:41:42that you don't know and just showing you the process
00:41:45of me learning and whilst I grew up with a family
00:41:49that were many things, many good things
00:41:52and good at so many things,
00:41:54I wasn't taught things like sourdough.
00:41:56I wasn't taught things like flour arranging
00:41:58or anything like that.
00:41:59And so to be able to bring in other people,
00:42:02other businesses, share them with you
00:42:04and learn with you is so much fun.
00:42:08And it's fun because I don't know everything.
00:42:10And so I hope that that also,
00:42:12it's okay for you guys to not know everything
00:42:14because I don't know everything.
00:42:15Sometimes when I'm looking to learn something
00:42:17and I go in search of that knowledge online,
00:42:19it can feel like I'm the only person
00:42:21that doesn't know these things.
00:42:22So to be able to just do it with you is so much fun.
00:42:25I have poured myself my first glass of wine of the evening
00:42:28and I'm going to kick back, relax
00:42:31and enjoy a very, very lovely weekend.
00:42:34We've got lots of friends over this weekend,
00:42:36which should be lovely.
00:42:37I'm also going to be up quite early tomorrow though
00:42:39because I'm going to be at the stables for about 7, 7.30.
00:42:43So, I might regret that later.
00:42:47Ken, we've got the whole family here.
00:42:49Well, not all the whole family, but some of the family here.
00:42:51And no one wants to talk me through
00:42:53the food that we're having.
00:42:54I just want to know what we're eating.
00:42:56What have we got?
00:42:57What, so we've got, these are festivals.
00:42:58You shouldn't hear my experience.
00:43:00No, I shouldn't.
00:43:01So this is festivals, sugar and flour.
00:43:04Yeah.
00:43:05Fascinating.
00:43:06Are they like rotis?
00:43:07No.
00:43:08Like dumplings.
00:43:09Like dumplings.
00:43:10I don't look at them as dumplings.
00:43:11No, no, no.
00:43:12No.
00:43:13That's like, yeah.
00:43:14Tell you what they are.
00:43:14Are you talking about dumplings you get in like
00:43:16Chinese, Japanese?
00:43:17No, no, no.
00:43:18Like in a stew, you have like that.
00:43:19Yeah.
00:43:20They say dumplings.
00:43:21Yeah, yeah.
00:43:22They say they're dumplings.
00:43:23They're not dumplings.
00:43:24But not, they go.
00:43:25But they're fries.
00:43:25Yeah, but that's, the Jamaicans call it festivals.
00:43:28Festivals.
00:43:29Okay.
00:43:30So what's this then?
00:43:31That is prawns.
00:43:32Prawns.
00:43:33Deep fried.
00:43:34No.
00:43:35What's this stuff?
00:43:35Battered.
00:43:36Okay.
00:43:37Yeah.
00:43:38More prawns.
00:43:39Yeah.
00:43:40And rice and peas.
00:43:41No, no, they're not more prawns.
00:43:42That's white fish.
00:43:43Oh, that's that.
00:43:44White fish.
00:43:45That's fish.
00:43:46Yeah.
00:43:46You all go so shy when I get my camera out.
00:43:48Then you got, then you got curry goat.
00:43:50Curry goat.
00:43:51Mutton.
00:43:52Lamb chops.
00:43:53Minted lamb.
00:43:54Yeah.
00:43:55So not mutton.
00:43:55No, that's the mutton.
00:43:56That's the mutton.
00:43:57Okay.
00:43:58Minted lamb.
00:43:59Minted lamb.
00:44:00Anything else?
00:44:01Mac and cheese.
00:44:01Mac and cheese.
00:44:02Did you not get lobster?
00:44:03Yeah.
00:44:04What's that?
00:44:05No, no, no.
00:44:06What's that?
00:44:06That's, that's, that's, mutton, lamb, festivals.
00:44:12So that, that's honey jerk lamb chops.
00:44:15Honey jerk lamb chops.
00:44:16That's curry goat.
00:44:17Curry goat.
00:44:18That's the fish.
00:44:19So that's not mutton.
00:44:20That's not mutton.
00:44:21You can get mutton.
00:44:22You can get curry goat.
00:44:23Curry goat, mutton, lamb chops.
00:44:24Yeah, but like a bit.
00:44:25It's not mutton.
00:44:27I'm starting to question whether you guys
00:44:29know what we're having.
00:44:31So this is the mac and cheese.
00:44:33Yeah, triple cheese.
00:44:34What's this one?
00:44:35The closest to goat and, and the.
00:44:36And what's this?
00:44:38We've got this one out.
00:44:39That's rice.
00:44:39Okay, okay, okay.
00:44:40So that's what we're having.
00:44:42Fantastic.
00:44:43I'm going to give every dish a rating out of 10,
00:44:45but the one that I'm most excited about is this one.
00:44:48My favorite.
00:44:49Yeah.
00:44:50You'll love those.
00:44:51Joe says that this is really good in the morning,
00:44:54the morning after with marmalade.
00:44:56I don't know about that one.
00:44:58I don't know about that.
00:45:01You'll love that.
00:45:01Okay.
00:45:12Ken, Ken, please bless the table for us.
00:45:17Lord, thank you very much for the food
00:45:21we got from the young lady.
00:45:23The goat and cheese, yeah, Lydia.
00:45:28Landia, yeah?
00:45:29Landia.
00:45:30A little shout out.
00:45:30We got Landia for the food,
00:45:32banging every time.
00:45:33Two years Christmas, I'll be eating food.
00:45:37What's her name?
00:45:37Landia.
00:45:38Landia.
00:45:39Thank you, honey.
00:45:41Thank you, honey.
00:45:42Let me come round and I'll try.
00:45:44Oh.
00:45:45Yeah, love everybody on this table, 110%.
00:45:50Yeah, you better know that.
00:45:52Yeah.
00:45:52Yeah.
00:45:53I was trying to say, and my buddy just started drinking.
00:45:56I'll start crying in a minute, Ken.
00:45:58Have a nice Christmas night,
00:45:59a little pre-birthday, birthday banter.
00:46:01Love you all very much, son, son, friend, friend,
00:46:04missus, eat your food.
00:46:06Yeah.
00:46:06Yeah.
00:46:07Yeah.
00:46:08Cheers.
00:46:09Cheers.
00:46:11Cheers.
00:46:12Cheers.
00:46:12You with the water.
00:46:14Cheers, everyone.
00:46:15Cheers.
00:46:16Cheers.
00:46:41We are out on a hike and look at these lovely fields.
00:46:45Oh, there's a car coming, car coming.
00:46:47You have to be careful, Atlas, you have to be careful.
00:46:54Good boy.
00:46:56Good boy.
00:46:57Good morning.
00:46:58I have not spoken to you this morning.
00:47:01I'm with Claudia.
00:47:03Good morning.
00:47:04And I'm with my friend,
00:47:06Good morning.
00:47:07I'm with Claudia.
00:47:09Good morning.
00:47:10And we are out on a hike,
00:47:13going across lots of different terrains.
00:47:15I was here at half seven,
00:47:16well, a little bit after half seven,
00:47:18because I was up for Caribbean night
00:47:20with Ken and Joe and Graham.
00:47:22It was so much fun.
00:47:23But now I'm doing what I love
00:47:27at the weekend with my big boy.
00:47:30And he's been very, very good.
00:47:31He was very excited this morning,
00:47:33but he's been very, very good.
00:47:34And Romeo has been very good.
00:47:37Goodness me, very good boys all round.
00:48:00Can you believe it, Claudia?
00:48:03I'm on my horse and you're on your horse.
00:48:05Can you believe it?
00:48:06Can you believe it?
00:48:08And we're hiking.
00:48:09It was like four years ago.
00:48:10I know.
00:48:10When it all started.
00:48:13And it actually feels like spring today.
00:48:16Yeah, it does.
00:48:17I know.
00:48:20Are you getting your jest?
00:48:24Who's that?
00:48:27Who's that?
00:48:29Who made them look that wacky?
00:48:33Sorry, I didn't see you there.
00:48:35Sorry, my love.
00:48:37Sorry.
00:48:39Yes, goodness.
00:48:41Very smart.
00:48:42Very, very smart.
00:48:46You're the smartest, aren't you?
00:48:49Look how smart you are, yes.
00:48:51Look how smart you are.
00:48:53Can you move out, please?
00:48:54Come on.
00:48:59Gosh, your rug is so much easier.
00:49:10Don't.
00:49:21This is the reality of these blooming birds.
00:49:24Every time I try to go past him,
00:49:26he runs into the road.
00:49:29We are now back home
00:49:30and it is time for the spring decor tour,
00:49:34which is absolutely incredible.
00:49:35I can't believe how quickly the narcissi have bloomed,
00:49:39but I genuinely believe
00:49:41that this is my most favourite spring install
00:49:43that I have ever, ever done with Gemma.
00:49:47I really feel like we've thought,
00:49:49and so has Gemma,
00:49:49she's put in so much effort into this,
00:49:51like the details that I like.
00:49:53We've actually reused some of the foraged materials
00:49:57that we did in summer,
00:50:00sorry, in midwinter,
00:50:02just to keep that reflectiveness of the outside in.
00:50:06And on the table, we have potted muscari,
00:50:09and these are beautiful little blue ones,
00:50:12just to add a touch of blue in here.
00:50:13These will be white ones,
00:50:15so these are a lot younger.
00:50:17Then we've got the narcissi,
00:50:19the primrose,
00:50:21and these gorgeous little quails, eggs, and moss
00:50:24dropped into the table.
00:50:27And over here, we've got another pot.
00:50:28These are actually some flowers
00:50:29that Ken's partner, Joe, got for me
00:50:32from a wonderful local lady called Emmy Floral Design.
00:50:36Just a little posy,
00:50:38I think that's a little crocus,
00:50:39is that a crocus in there?
00:50:40I don't know what that is,
00:50:41but these gorgeous little daisies, tulips,
00:50:43it's just so pretty.
00:50:45Then Gemma left the quails' eggs,
00:50:46so I thought I'd make a little Easter moment out of them,
00:50:50and I've stacked them up in a little bowl.
00:50:52Another potted muscari,
00:50:53these are white,
00:50:54these are gonna come out.
00:50:55I've also got potted bulbs,
00:50:57muscari and narcissi on the terrace as well.
00:51:00I've actually got a planter to pot up myself
00:51:04that you can kind of see just there,
00:51:07which is probably better if I show you that.
00:51:09There.
00:51:10So I'm gonna do that with some willowy muscari as well.
00:51:15I will link all of the planters that are available.
00:51:17I think when you're watching this video,
00:51:19this snowdrop one will no longer be available,
00:51:22but I'm gonna post it on my Instagram story,
00:51:24so if you've got it,
00:51:25let me know in the comments.
00:51:26But this is muscari and snowdrops
00:51:29because we've had a few days of really warm weather outside
00:51:32and so the snowdrops have erupted.
00:51:35And actually Gemma complimented me on my little display,
00:51:38so I turned the Diana table
00:51:40into a little bit of a potting extravaganza,
00:51:44and I really like this.
00:51:45So these are some of the pots that I bought from Amazon,
00:51:48and these have got my sweet peas in them at the moment.
00:51:51Also, I saw something the other day that said,
00:51:55sometimes plants just die
00:51:56and there's no real explanation for it,
00:52:00and it's not been treated any differently
00:52:02to any of the other plants.
00:52:03This pot here is an accurate depiction of that.
00:52:05There are four, five little seedlings in here,
00:52:09actually more coming through,
00:52:11and just this one decided to die.
00:52:13And I'm definitely not putting as much pressure.
00:52:17I really like it that the gardening community
00:52:19is coming together now
00:52:20and just talking about the things
00:52:22that maybe don't go so well
00:52:23and things that are more expected,
00:52:25because as someone who loves gardening
00:52:28but is like learning a little bit at a time,
00:52:30I like to know that when something dies,
00:52:32it's not my fault all the time.
00:52:34Sometimes it will be, but not all the time.
00:52:37And so seeing some of these thrive
00:52:39and then one of them just die for no reason is bizarre,
00:52:42but this again is the snowdrop planter here,
00:52:44and I think it makes such a wonderful centerpiece
00:52:47to this table and keeps this area
00:52:49just looking so, this looks so optimistic.
00:52:53I love this so much.
00:52:55And it feels like a real gardener's potting table.
00:52:58I love it.
00:52:59Then we've got the magnolia here,
00:53:00which is about to, it's about to open up.
00:53:03This is about to bloom,
00:53:05and I think this is gonna be so pretty.
00:53:06I'm gonna keep an eye on the water in there.
00:53:08But you might be able to buy magnolia from Gemma's shop.
00:53:11I'm not 100% sure just yet.
00:53:13If you can, I'll link it down below.
00:53:14If not, there are places that you can get them.
00:53:17It's just gonna be so beautiful,
00:53:18but you can also leave them without water
00:53:21and the buds will just stay.
00:53:23But this is looking like it's gonna bloom quite beautifully,
00:53:26which makes me excited.
00:53:27Another little pot here.
00:53:29We have some pots in Ali's room as well,
00:53:32a little muscari pot.
00:53:34And then we've got some snowdrops on here
00:53:36because Ali obviously has the wonderful view.
00:53:39You can see the snowdrops in the woodland
00:53:44just looking fantastic.
00:53:47Blowing in the wind
00:53:48because it is very, very blustery today.
00:53:51We have a little baby barky here,
00:53:52and then we also have a little snowdrop planter here.
00:53:57I think this is my favourite thing that we've done.
00:53:59So this is a little mix-up, a little mishmash of ideas,
00:54:04which has created such a beautiful display.
00:54:08If you find yourself like an antique zinc planter,
00:54:11we've just added two little ivy plants in there,
00:54:15lots of bulbs, different bulbs, muscari, narcissi.
00:54:19And then we've also added in some of the magnolia twigs
00:54:23as the supports, just because the ratios felt good.
00:54:25So there's also a little bit of birch in there too.
00:54:28And we've got another little planter down here.
00:54:31But this just felt really spring-like.
00:54:34Honestly, I love this so, so much.
00:54:37The only thing we couldn't do is the hops over the stove
00:54:41because for some reason they'd like squished
00:54:45a massive, massive like runner of hops.
00:54:50And they just looked awful.
00:54:51So I'm going to have to send them back
00:54:52and see if we can get another one.
00:54:53I ordered them online.
00:54:55And then I've brought in a few ivy plants
00:54:58that I have been nurturing in the greenhouse,
00:55:01which I'm going to dot about places as well.
00:55:03These have all just been living in there,
00:55:05nursing back to health as well.
00:55:06Because sometimes when you have them inside,
00:55:08they just all of a sudden decide they don't like things.
00:55:10I've also got some little bulbs upstairs
00:55:12in my dressing room.
00:55:13So I'm going to add this one to it
00:55:15because now that I've added more ivy throughout the home,
00:55:17it looks lovely.
00:55:18But just look at this.
00:55:20Oh God, what a gorgeous arrangement.
00:55:22And I just love it.
00:55:23It is such a wonderful way to signify
00:55:26the beginning of the season.
00:55:27And I honestly just can't wait for like the house
00:55:31to all be finished so I can pop pots everywhere
00:55:33and just really, really enjoy the process.
00:55:36I had the loveliest hack this morning as well.
00:55:39That's only my second hack with Atlas.
00:55:42The weather has just been,
00:55:44it's not been great for hacking.
00:55:46So we got out and we actually were really lucky
00:55:49in that we were given a day that was really beautiful.
00:55:51There wasn't any winds.
00:55:53It is now windy, sadly.
00:55:54So it was just,
00:55:56it's one of those days where we're having
00:55:57a few seasons in the day.
00:55:58Now we've also had Ali's old boss coming over to visit us.
00:56:03And I cannot believe what he gifted us.
00:56:07So basically, if you don't know,
00:56:09Ali's old boss was the most incredible person to Ali.
00:56:13To give you a bit of a backstory,
00:56:15he was like fully one of the people that we thanked
00:56:18as part of our wedding speeches
00:56:19because what he did for Ali was,
00:56:21he just didn't have to do.
00:56:23So Ali had worked with him for 16 years as an electrician.
00:56:26And I know that some people think that Ali and I
00:56:29are embarrassed or ashamed by the fact
00:56:31that Ali was an electrician.
00:56:32I honestly don't know why anyone would be ashamed
00:56:35of that in the first place.
00:56:36It is something that we're both really proud of.
00:56:39And also such a flex.
00:56:42I've talked about this before on my channel,
00:56:44but having a husband that can do things is really handy.
00:56:48And I remember when I was with friends
00:56:50and Ali would go around and help them do,
00:56:53help their husbands do things around the home.
00:56:54And it was so nice to be able to do that for our friends.
00:56:57And so I talk about this all the time,
00:56:59but I feel like it's so weird if I go on TikTok
00:57:01and talk about the fact that we really,
00:57:04we're not ashamed of this at all in the slightest.
00:57:07None of us are ashamed of the things
00:57:09that we were when we were younger.
00:57:10And it's just very weird that that's the sort of mentality.
00:57:13I think it's a society thing, I don't know.
00:57:15But anyway, Ali was an electrician for 16 years
00:57:18and he'd worked just him and his boss all that time.
00:57:21And Ali, a lot of Ali's characteristics come from his boss.
00:57:25Anyway, he allowed Ali to work as a content creator
00:57:30alongside being an electrician.
00:57:31He didn't have to do that, but he allowed him to.
00:57:34So Ali could request time off and he allowed him to,
00:57:36and he kind of just let Ali wean himself out of the business.
00:57:41And what this did was it opened up an opportunity
00:57:43for his boss to live his dream.
00:57:46And whilst he had had the high-flying career
00:57:49of having his own business
00:57:50and he'd done really, really well for himself,
00:57:52he decided to sell everything,
00:57:54him and his wife and his family,
00:57:56sell everything and move to Wales
00:57:59and live self-sufficiently on a farm there.
00:58:03And if there is one person that I wish was doing Instagram
00:58:06or TikTok or YouTube, it is him,
00:58:09because the antics that he gets up to,
00:58:12he's learning to rear cattle,
00:58:14he's learning to breed chickens,
00:58:16he's learning to farm the fields,
00:58:18all from a background that he had never had before.
00:58:22We almost forget when we're in this social media world
00:58:27that people do this all the time.
00:58:29So this gentleman is not from that life.
00:58:32He is not from a farming background.
00:58:33That is not his world.
00:58:35That is not anything to do with who he was before now.
00:58:39And he's decided that he wants to live a different life
00:58:42and live life differently
00:58:44to anything that he's ever experienced.
00:58:46And so he's just kind of done it.
00:58:47Obviously, he's not posting about it online,
00:58:49so none of you know about it.
00:58:50So you can't tell him that he's cosplaying as a farmer.
00:58:53You can't tell him that he's all the gear and no idea.
00:58:56You can't tell him this, that,
00:58:57and you can't judge him for getting it wrong.
00:58:59And I always find the fact that we've got so many
00:59:02of these people around us doing these things,
00:59:04it's what reminds us when we're pivoting,
00:59:08changing, rebranding, changing our lives
00:59:12because we want to change our lives,
00:59:14is that people do this all the time.
00:59:16You just don't know about it.
00:59:17And I think if more people got comfortable
00:59:20with saying online, I'm changing,
00:59:22and I like different things,
00:59:24and I want to do different things,
00:59:26and I am passionate about different things,
00:59:28whether I came from Watford or whether I came
00:59:31from Timbuktu, it's okay to change
00:59:35and want to craft the life that you want for yourself,
00:59:38even if it's different from anything else
00:59:41that is in your day-to-day life.
00:59:43And I hope that's a little bit of something
00:59:46that can inspire you because he was so inspiring
00:59:49for me yesterday when I was listening to him talk,
00:59:51listening to him say what he didn't know,
00:59:53listening to him say about the things that he got wrong,
00:59:55and then seeing him turn up at our house
00:59:58with the produce from his farm.
01:00:00In our freezer now, we have the ultimate,
01:00:04the ultimate haul of like,
01:00:07you can't even buy it in a farm shop
01:00:09because it's literally from his farm.
01:00:10We've got sausages.
01:00:12We've got, I think, a pork shoulder.
01:00:14We've got an entire cockerel for Ali to cook.
01:00:20They brought us homemade bread.
01:00:22And he's not posting about this.
01:00:24This is just like their way of life now.
01:00:25And it's so wonderful.
01:00:28He even gave us their own, I think like pork fat,
01:00:32I think it is that they cook in.
01:00:34So they don't cook in any seed oils.
01:00:36And that was really useful for me to pick his brain about,
01:00:38but he doesn't cook in any seed oils.
01:00:41The only thing they'll ever use
01:00:42is really good quality olive oil.
01:00:45If they're cooking potatoes,
01:00:46if they're frying something, if they're doing whatever,
01:00:48they're doing it in either butter or fat like this,
01:00:52basically.
01:00:54So that was really useful.
01:00:55We gave them some of our honey as well.
01:00:56We were talking about bread baking
01:00:58and I tried my sourdough as well.
01:01:01My sourdough is so good.
01:01:02So at the moment, sorry, I've got so much to tell you
01:01:05because I really feel like I'm learning so much
01:01:07at the moment and it's just wonderful.
01:01:09I've done my third day of feeding my sourdough.
01:01:14So I've got one day left to give this a feed.
01:01:17And then I think I can put to the test
01:01:20what I've learned with Charlie.
01:01:22So the fact that I have baked this one on my own,
01:01:26obviously it's not completely on my own.
01:01:28She was there with me.
01:01:29So my next step is to learn to do it without her guidance.
01:01:34And honestly, I've told you before,
01:01:36I've done a few bread making courses
01:01:38and some of them I paid hundreds of pounds to do.
01:01:41I would say that the most faff-free approach
01:01:43has been Charlie's and I would highly recommend,
01:01:48highly recommend her like online class.
01:01:51That's not because she came and did it with me
01:01:53or anything like that,
01:01:54just going through the notes and having everything here
01:01:58and all of the different options in this folder
01:02:00is so helpful.
01:02:02So yeah, I will link it down below.
01:02:04But yes, it's just been such a wholesome few days.
01:02:08And I really mean it when I say that like,
01:02:11never be afraid to ever say that you don't know something.
01:02:15I think this is really something that I'm like
01:02:17leaning into so much more at the moment
01:02:19and leaning into is like my word of the moment,
01:02:21but just not knowing things.
01:02:23Like it's okay to not know things.
01:02:27And I was having a conversation with someone the other day
01:02:29and they used a word that I didn't know.
01:02:30And I was with someone else and they said,
01:02:32and I said, oh, what does that mean?
01:02:34And they said, oh, I'm so glad you said that
01:02:35because I was just gonna pretend I knew what they meant.
01:02:37And I thought, do you know what?
01:02:38That's something I really want to do more of
01:02:40is be okay with not knowing things
01:02:43and inviting people that do know those things into my world
01:02:47to help enrich my life.
01:02:49This week has been so enriching for me on a personal level
01:02:53and has inspired me so much more
01:02:55in like my learning escapades.
01:02:57The fact that I am now baking sourdough
01:03:00is a dream come true.
01:03:02And I hope it's gonna inspire so many of you
01:03:05that maybe have thought that this is like a scary thing
01:03:07or something that's maybe a bit too technical
01:03:09because I promise you where there is a will,
01:03:12there is a way.
01:03:13Now today, I think I'm going to bake a cake
01:03:16because we've got our friend, Timothy,
01:03:18coming over with his girlfriend, Alice.
01:03:21And we haven't seen them for such a long time.
01:03:23If you don't know, Timothy is like an online creator
01:03:24as well, but he's just taken a year off
01:03:26because he had a lot of,
01:03:29I think he had a lot of health issues.
01:03:31So we've not seen him, he lives quite far away.
01:03:33And so they're coming up to spend the day with us.
01:03:34It's gonna be wonderful to have them here.
01:03:36And I just feel like I've had such a wonderful weekend.
01:03:38We had Ken and his family over on the Friday.
01:03:41We've had Ali's old boss and his wife over.
01:03:45And now we've got our other friends
01:03:47and it's just been the most fulfilling week.
01:03:50And then I got to hack with Claudia
01:03:52on the most wonderful hack.
01:03:53Oh, my cup.
01:03:55Like, I feel like a new woman today.
01:03:56It's so weird.
01:03:58I feel in such a good mood.
01:04:00We have four wonderful eggs today,
01:04:03which makes me very, very happy.
01:04:05The girls are fully embracing laying season.
01:04:09I went into my greenhouse yesterday
01:04:11and we'd had a travesty on the smaller scale,
01:04:15like we had last year,
01:04:17where some of my little seedlings had been eaten.
01:04:20Luckily, it was only three of them.
01:04:22And so Ali is helping me
01:04:23get to the bottom of what's going on.
01:04:25So we put in some humane mouse traps yesterday
01:04:29on the pretense that we check every single day
01:04:31so that we can let them out.
01:04:32And I think we have caught the little culprit in here.
01:04:37So we're gonna let him out
01:04:40somewhere a little bit further away than my greenhouse
01:04:42and he can go away and live his lovely, happy life
01:04:45because we're not interested in killing animals
01:04:50for our vegetables,
01:04:53but we also don't want them killing our vegetables.
01:04:55So you're going outside, mister.
01:04:58There we go.
01:05:00Off you go, chap.
01:05:01Off you go.
01:05:05Off he went.
01:05:07Okay, I'm having a little bit of a play around
01:05:10to see what I can do to hide the hooks
01:05:13for the hops up here with pots.
01:05:16I always thought that this ledge would be too small
01:05:18and too narrow for pots like this,
01:05:21but I actually think I might be able to put
01:05:23a little bit of a display together
01:05:26with pots that I've got knocking around in the house.
01:05:28So bear with me whilst this comes together.
01:05:41Hello.
01:05:47I, hello, I am loving this.
01:05:51I feel like it could definitely do with another small pot.
01:05:54I think perhaps a small pot of,
01:05:58well, another two small pots, I would say,
01:06:01of either ivy or bulbs.
01:06:04I'm going to order another little trio of pots
01:06:07from Gemma to add to this
01:06:09because this is bringing me so much joy.
01:06:12Oh my gosh, who knew that the garland was going to change?
01:06:17But I think the garland is changing,
01:06:19which is good because, oh my gosh, I love it so much.
01:06:24I have to film the roast dinner,
01:06:26otherwise it didn't happen.
01:06:27I've been-
01:06:28No, no, no, no, it's fine, it's fine.
01:06:31But I always say, oh, we've got friends coming over
01:06:33and I never film what we've been doing.
01:06:34So Ali's been working in the kitchen.
01:06:37We've got a lovely bottle of chocolate block
01:06:39from our friends ready for dinner.
01:06:41And it is all served on the first Easter table of the year.
01:06:49It looks fantastic.
01:06:50I have to say, straight away when Alice walked in,
01:06:53I saw her handbag.
01:06:54So this is the Louis Vuitton Neverfull,
01:06:57but I've never seen it, pardon the pun, in this size.
01:07:03It is the cutest little size ever.
01:07:06She said that apparently it was released recently
01:07:09and was out of stock instantly.
01:07:11I love this.
01:07:13Such a classic and such a me size.
01:07:17Honestly, look at this.
01:07:20I think even with my outfit right now, look at that.
01:07:24Like the other size was a bit too big.
01:07:26I'm cleaning the kitchen, by the way.
01:07:27The other size they had was a bit big, but look at that.
01:07:30Oh, it's such a gorgeous size.
01:07:34And you can bring in the sides of the bag as well.
01:07:40I think it's gorgeous.
01:07:41I'm gonna steal it and hide it.
01:07:45I did make a cake as well,
01:07:47and it came out really, really well.
01:07:48In fact, you know what I've realised?
01:07:50I've realised that blackberries are essential
01:07:53for my lemon drizzle cake.
01:07:55It's just non-negotiable.
01:07:56That's going forward.
01:07:57Blackberries are my thing.
01:07:58I love blackberries.
01:08:00But we've got an apple and blackberry crumble
01:08:05in the oven as well, just in case there wasn't enough.
01:08:07But I'm tidying up in the kitchen
01:08:09and finishing off sorting everything away.
01:08:12We've got lots of, this is just so good.
