Munkar is a 2024 Indonesian horror film about a santri who dies in an accident after being bullied at an Islamic boarding school. The film explores themes of institutional abuse, hazing, and violence in Asian education systems.
Plot:
Herlina is a santri who is bullied by her peers at an Islamic boarding school in East Java.
Herlina is accused of stealing a ring from the Kyai's wife.
Herlina is found with the ring in her bag, and the pesantren searches the other santri.
Herlina flees to avoid punishment, but dies in a tragic accident.
Her parents seek the help of a shaman to revive Herlina's spirit so she can avenge herself against her tormentors.

The film stars Adhisty Zara, Ratu Sofya, Saskia Chadwick, Kaneishia Yusuf, Ayu Hastari, and Elma Theana.
