Rio's Christ the Redeemer lit up with messages of support for Pope Francis

The iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro displays a projection of images of Pope Francis along with supportive messages in various languages on Feb. 27, 2025. The Vatican announced that Pope Francis, who is 88 and has been hospitalized with bilateral pneumonia for 14 days, is improving but still requires oxygen and additional days of clinical stability. This initiative, organized by the Archdiocese of Rio aimed to strengthen spirituality and foster global solidarity in support of the Pope.
