00:00Five individuals, including two Chinese nationals, were arrested by the authorities for spying on military and police camps in Metro Manila.
00:10According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago, these were arrested on February 20,
00:15following reports from the AFP's Intelligence Service that there are vehicles carrying unauthorized international mobile subscriber identity catchers
00:23that are often seen in AFP and PNP camps, as well as other important facilities and even national government assets in Metro Manila.
00:33Among the suspects who were recovered, there is equipment that can imitate the legitimate cellular tower used to block and manipulate mobile network communications.
00:44According to NBI, these are often used for unauthorized surveillance, espionage, and data theft.
00:51Meanwhile, the wife of one of the last Chinese nationals, who has IMSI catchers in their condominium unit, and the last three Filipinos, were hired to run around in the so-called equipment.
01:02The so-called suspects who are facing the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and espionage were imprisoned in the inquest proceedings.
