Calls to improve treatment of people with intellectual disabilities

Advocates for Australians with intellectual disability say their medical treatment is often cruel and dehumanising because practitioners can often dismiss their health concerns. They say the resulting health outcomes for this cohort are comparable to third world countries and are calling for urgent action to address the problem.
