00:00With tensions running high between the two countries
00:02some Canadians are calling on their leaders to cut off power to the U.S.
00:06Others are urging negotiators to tear up a decades-old water treaty
00:11that ensures the U.S. gets reliable power.
00:14So you have millions of gallons of water pouring down from the north
00:18with the snow caps and Canada and all pouring down
00:21and they have a essentially a very large faucet.
00:25These red dots represent just some of the 60 dams
00:28on the Columbia River Basin system which provides more than 40%
00:32of all the hydroelectric power in the U.S.
00:34I know Canada was compensated monetarily
00:37but not enough for what Canada lost.
00:41She says tearing up the treaty would help Canada push back
00:44against tariff and other threats.

00:55The B.C. minister in charge of treaty negotiations
00:57says the process would take 10 years and wouldn't help.

01:03which is an immediate and vicious attack on Canadian sovereignty
01:09that we have to respond to.
