00:00The Philippines and Japan have agreed to cooperate in security and defense.

00:06The President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr. and the Japanese Defense Minister, Katani Gen,

00:14and Clayzel Pardilian of PTV, have been appointed as the next leaders of the two countries.

00:20The Philippines and Japan have agreed to cooperate in security and defense.

00:27The Japanese Defense Minister, Katani Gen, and the President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr. have been appointed as the next leaders of the two countries.

00:35The two leaders discussed the strengthening of the relationship between the Philippines and Japan

00:41and discussed the future of the region.

00:46Japan and the Philippines have worked closely for so many decades now

00:51and I'm sure that we will find many much common ground to build further in the future.

01:01Minister Gen was pleased and positive that the cooperation between the Philippines and Japan continues.

01:09He also visited the BASA Air Base in Pampanga and the Wallace Air Station in La Union.

01:17There, I was able to observe with my eyes the surveillance radar system which was transferred by the Japanese government.

01:27Japan is one of the strategic partners of the Philippines.

01:31The two countries have 264 bilateral agreements

01:36which are based on providing defense equipment, technology, infrastructure, and infrastructure in Mindanao.

01:45Japan is also providing education and training in military force.

01:50Since 2023, the Philippines has been one of the first countries to receive assistance for the establishment of the AFP,

02:00which is far-reaching in security cooperation.

02:03Japan supports the Philippines' commitment to comply with international law,

02:09such as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

02:12The two countries are also promoting broad cooperation between other countries

02:19to stop tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

02:22This is based on the peaceful resolution of the two countries

02:26while strengthening their defense and security capabilities.

02:31The Philippines and Japan will jointly chair the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting Plus Maritime Security

02:38for 2024 to 2027,

02:42which is based on the role of the naval forces in strengthening the blue economy

02:47and addressing the effects of climate change.

02:50The two countries will hold the 68th Diplomatic Relations Conference this 2025.
