Philippine, Japan agree to enhance defense partnership
Japan and the Philippines agreed to further deepen defense ties in the face of an "increasingly severe" security environment in the Indo-Pacific region, Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani said on Monday, February 24.
Nakatani met his Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro in Manila for a meeting in which the two ministers tackled regional security issues, including the maritime situation in the East and South China Seas.
Nakatani said the Philippines and Japan have agreed to deepen cooperation on military exchanges, establish a high-level strategic dialogue among its military and deepen information sharing.

00:25It's over, it's over.
00:36Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
00:39The promotion of a free and open Indo-Pacific, a free and open South China Sea and East Sea,
00:47in accordance with generally accepted principles of international law, is a shared initiative.
00:57And we share also the common cause of resisting any unilateral attempt to reshape the global order
01:10without the consent of the participants of this global order and the attempt to reshape international law by force.
01:22I'd like to thank all of you who are in attendance for your kind attention.
