Congress leader Karti Chidambaram on Sunday said that all political parties in Tamil Nadu stand united in rejecting the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) by the BJP-led central government in the state.

Karti further alleged that the BJP is trying to impose Hindi as a part of the NEP's three-language policy. He further challenged the BJP to fight the 2026 assembly polls in Tamil Nadu without an alliance as he said that no party in the state would support the saffron party's stance.
Transcript
00:00There is absolute unanimity in Tamil Nadu in rejecting the new educational policy of
00:08the BJP central government.
00:11Tamil Nadu cannot be held at ransom and be forced to implement a three-language policy
00:17in state government schools and say that central funds will only be allotted to Tamil Nadu,
00:25which is their right, will be denied the funds from the central government because we don't
00:31want to implement a three-language policy.
00:34Every time the central government talks about a three-language policy, it is only code for
00:38Hindi imposition.
00:40I would like to ask, what is the third language that they are teaching in the government schools
00:45in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh?
00:51What language are they teaching there?
00:52Is there a third language there?
00:54If so, what is the third language?
00:56Does any of the northern states teach a southern Indian language?
01:01This policy of forcing a third language is nothing but imposition of Hindi through the
01:07back door and Tamil Nadu will never accept it.
01:10It is an assault on the linguistic and cultural identity of Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu unanimously
01:16will reject this.
01:17BJP must contest the elections in 2026 without any alliance because no other political party
01:32in Tamil Nadu supports NEP.
01:33They must stand alone only on this plank by going to the people saying that they will
01:38implement NEP and they will bring in a third language which is Hindi into the school curriculum
01:45of government schools in Tamil Nadu and we will know what the result is.
01:47I will tell you again, the BJP will be roundly rejected time after time again in Tamil Nadu.
