00:00what a difference a year makes for the Miami Marlins. This is a new look lineup to say the
00:04least. A lot of young players, George, playing this season. It's going to look exponentially
00:10different than last year. Jazz Chisholm is gone. Louisa Rice is gone. Josh Bell is gone. Jake
00:14Berger is gone. Brian Dillard Cruz is gone. I mean, it is just a lot of players we saw at the
00:19end of last season that now have entrenched themselves as starters this season. But as
00:24you see there right at the top, one of the more underrated players, George, in fantasy hit for
00:28the cycle last year, Xavier Edwards, had a fantastic year. And it's going to get a lot of
00:33plate appearances this year. I don't know if, you know, a lot of runs driven in remains to be seen.
00:38Connor Norby came over in the trade with the Orioles. He'll bat second. Jesus Sanchez usually
00:43plays against all right-handed pitching, followed by Jonah Bride, Griffin Conine, Otto Lopez, who
00:48did a nice job for them last year. Stowers, another name in the mix. Dane Myers, another
00:53offensive name in the mix, got hurt last year. And then Nick Fortes. So look, this is, you know,
00:58let's call it a team that should be better, George, than they were a year ago. They start off the
01:02season 0-9, if I'm not mistaken. So I would expect a better season for the Marlins. But to what degree
01:09will still remains to be seen of how many players that you see here end up helping you in fantasy.
01:15And by the way, we didn't even talk about all of those players we traded. We just talked about
01:19those players, George. But they received so many players back in return, like De Los Santos from
01:24Arizona and Ramirez in the Jazz Chisholm trade. I would expect this to be a very fluid offensive
01:30situation with the Marlins. Yeah, I would agree. And yeah, you look at this lineup, boy, you need
01:36to be a baseball fan to realize these names. This looks like a bad spring training, you know, game
01:41here where you don't know half the people, right? I mean, you really need to know. I really need to
01:44study it to realize the Marlins. You sort of have to remember what happened last year, as you already
01:49went down all the players that were traded, people that were brought in. Xavier Edwards is
01:52definitely someone who's on my radar. Connor Norby, one of the Baltimore Oriole prospects that were,
01:58you know, Orioles are loaded. I think they should have traded more, by the way, and gotten better
02:01this year. But that's a story for another day here. Listen, when I think the Marlins, you know,
02:07we're looking at the pitching staff, all right? All those guys they have there, more than their
02:11hitters there. And that's always a story with the Marlins, right? It's a tough ballpark to hit in.
02:15It's not a hitter's ballpark at all. So I'm not going to be looking for their offense, really,
02:20other than maybe, like I said, the middle infielder. Edwards is probably the only starter I would think
02:24about as I have you guys on my show. Everything after that is more depth players for me. Sort of
02:28wait and see. See what I have there. You know, are they going to hit? Are they going to be replaced?
02:32Are they going to be full-time players? They're a team that's almost like all scout team on my
02:37fantasy league, right? You have to watch and see what they're doing. Yeah. No, you have to watch
02:42and see because I would say that playing time will be limited to the players who are performing.
02:46As an example, you saw Jonah Bryde, who was really good for them in the second half of the season on
02:51that list. But in the offseason, George, they did make a small trade to acquire Matt Mervis,
02:56who once upon a time was a top prospect with the Cubs. So depending on how Bryde does, maybe Mervis
03:01gets some opportunities there, in addition to a lot of the young players that they acquired in
03:05those trades. But as George alluded to, the pitching is the key here. And Sandy Alcantara,
03:10who will start this weekend for the Marlins in Jupiter, and then will start opening day for them
03:15is back once again. The expectation is pretty much George full go from what I'm hearing here.
03:20So I thought cap him out 150 innings. I don't know that that's going to be the case. I think he may
03:25be full go. Edward Cabrera, who I know they still like a lot. It was a little bit of up, a little
03:30bit of down, but when he's on has been as dominant as anybody. Ryan Weathers was a nice surprise.
03:35And then you have Max Meyer. And I got to tell you, I mean, the best, I mean, they didn't,
03:39you know, this was the only signing they had in the offseason, major league signing,
03:42major league contract, but Cal Quantro, I thought that was a nice signing for them.
03:45And actually fits that ballpark perfectly. Fantasy purposes. I understand, George,
03:49very different. You want Alcantara because he's going to give you a lot of innings. You can count
03:53on him every fifth day. But I think the most interesting name that we haven't talked about
03:57yet here is Yuri Perez, who's going to come back at some point, June or July, a nice stash,
04:02I think, in a lot of leagues. It's funny. You should mention that. I told you last week,
04:07I have Alcantara in my home league and I can keep him around 21. And it's either I keep one of
04:12Alcantara, DeGrom, and Clanahan, one of those guys. And Alcantara is the guy I'm going to go
04:17with here. I also have Yuri Perez in that league. I could keep him as well, but I can only keep
04:21three. So I can't keep Perez, but he's another guy. Yeah. At the end of your leagues, if you
04:25have the IL slots, DL slots, whatever you want to call it, your league, draft them. You don't
04:28know what's going to happen in June, July, when he comes back here. I like Cabrera. I haven't
04:31given up on Cabrera. Even Max Moyer. That's what the Mo's, they always have these top starting
04:36pitchers. You know, if we just get a few more of these guys to develop, they'd be something here.
04:40Great. Quick question. Alcantara, will they be with the Marlins all season?
04:43Boy, you know, I don't know the answer to that. I hope so. He's been with them. He's the longest
04:47tenured Marlin almost of all time. So I hope so, but I guess we're just going to have to wait and
04:52see.
