00:00I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the
00:26United States.
00:27The Constitution of the United States.
00:29So help me God.
00:30So help me God.
00:31Congratulations, Mr. President.
00:32A month is over with Donald Trump as the President of the United States of America.
00:39In this one month armed with tariff, deportation, world peace, and muskism of expenditure cuts,
00:49Donald Trump has set the tone for his second term in the Oval Office.
00:54At the heart of it all is the slogan, Make America Great Again.
01:02So Mr. President has told all that he cares first for American money, and in that there's
01:08no compromise for friends or foes.
01:12Tariff charged would be reciprocated in equal terms to all to create jobs and enhance the
01:19manufacturing industry in America.
01:23But I'll tell you what will go up is jobs.
01:25The jobs will go up tremendously.
01:27We're going to have great jobs, jobs for everybody.
01:31This is something that should have been done many years ago.
01:35China did it.
01:36I mean, China did it at a level that probably nobody's ever seen before.
01:41If you manufactured a car, you couldn't send it into China.
01:45The tariff was so high.
01:46So everybody went and they built in China.
01:48It was no big secret.
01:50So we're going to see, but it's going to mean tremendous amounts of jobs and ultimately
01:55prices will stay the same, go down.
01:58We know that we think interest rates are going to ultimately be coming down because of things
02:02that happen and they go hand in hand with the tariffs.
02:06But we think that we think that the prices for some things, many things, it could be
02:11all things will go down.
02:14America is for Americans and not for outsiders, especially illegal immigrants.
02:19They are the bane for America and have no place through Uncle Sam's door.
02:25We're tracking down the illegal alien criminals.
02:28We're detaining them and we are throwing them the hell out of our country.
02:32We have no apologies and we're moving forward very fast.
02:35They're very dangerous people.
02:38And the world needs peace at any cost, even if that means the removal of Palestinians
02:45from the world's largest open prison that they call home, Gaza.
02:53Or if that means Ukraine should bow down to Putin and Europe should watch it happen.
03:01I want to see if I can save maybe millions of lives.
03:05This could even end up in a World War Three.
03:07I mean, to be honest with you, you've been hearing now Europe is saying, well, I think
03:10we're going to go in and we're going to go all of a sudden you're going to end up in
03:12World War Three over something that should have never happened.
03:18And all is fair in love and war against expenditures.
03:24If that means access to boost one's business.
03:28Armed with fella Elon Musk, Trump is all set to make American governance effective.
03:36Cut funds, cut jobs, cut all the flab and protect taxpayers' money.
03:47Elon is doing a great job.
03:49He's finding tremendous fraud and corruption and waste.
03:53You see it with the USAID, but you're going to see it even more so with other agencies
03:58and other parts of government.
04:02Musk gets to spread his business and help the man in the White House be a better president.
04:10A legacy of MAGA to leave behind when he becomes the former president, finally, on 19th January
04:182029.
04:22That's what happened in a month of Trump 2.0.
04:28Hello and welcome, I'm Geeta Mohan and you're watching World Today.
04:34I'm reporting from a city of Florence.
04:37This is the city of Luga.
04:39And I'm at the Tower of Guernsey, not the Trump Tower, but the focus certainly is going
04:43to be President Trump's first month in office for the second time.
04:48Top of the list has been his aggressive tariff policy as an economic tool that has sparked
04:54debate at home and abroad.
04:56Here's a report.
05:01The American President Donald Trump's favorite economic tool is the tariff.
05:08Tariffs are a tax on imports, products brought into the United States from outside.
05:17The US president has made reshaping the country's trade policy a centerpiece of his early administration.
05:25He has introduced tariffs on goods from key trading partners, including Canada, Mexico,
05:31China, India and a host of other countries.
05:38In the past month, he has imposed 25% tariffs on goods entering the US from Canada and Mexico.
05:46Imposed increased tariffs on goods from China by 10% and 25% tariff on steel and aluminum
05:52imports from other countries.
05:56On 13th February, the US President Trump announced the imposition of reciprocal tariffs on imports
06:02from various countries, including India.
06:06On trade, I have decided for purposes of fairness that I will charge a reciprocal tariff, meaning
06:12whatever countries charge the United States of America, we will charge them no more, no
06:19less.
06:20If they charge us, they charge us a tax or tariff and we charge them the exact same tax
06:27or tariff.
06:28Very simple.
06:32President Trump defends these tariffs as essential for protecting American industries, stimulating
06:37economic growth and generating revenue.
06:39He even warned his people that there could be adverse repercussions in the beginning.
06:45We may have short term some little pain and people understand that, but long term, the
06:51United States has been ripped off by virtually every country in the world.
06:56We have deficits with almost every country, not every country, but almost, and we're going
07:01to change it.
07:02It's been unfair.
07:03That's why we owe $36 trillion.
07:04We have deficits with everybody.
07:08We help everybody.
07:09We've been helping everybody for years.
07:11And to be honest, I don't think they appreciate it.
07:14So we're going to change that.
07:18And so did he.
07:19His administration believes tariffs can strengthen the US economy and lead to reshoring of manufacturing.
07:26They highlight the potential for job creation and wage increases in sectors like steel and
07:32aluminum.
07:34We were being pummeled by both friend and foe alike.
07:38Our nation requires steel and aluminum to be made in America, not in foreign lands.
07:43We need to create in order to protect our country's future resurgence of U.S. manufacturing
07:49and production, the likes of which has not been seen for many decades.
07:53So essentially, we're putting on a 25 percent tariff, without exception, on all aluminum
08:01and all steel.
08:04And it's going to mean a lot of businesses are going to be opening in the United States.
08:07And America is going to be stronger than it ever was before.
08:13U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policies have faced strong criticism.
08:19Economic studies from his first term suggest that the economic burden of tariffs is ultimately
08:24borne by U.S. consumers through higher prices.
08:28There are also concerns about retaliatory tariffs from other countries potentially escalating
08:33trade wars.
08:36So this will send shockwaves to the world economy.
08:39And that's before you price in the fact that other countries will feel the need to retaliate.
08:44The tariffs on foreign goods will be a tax on our consumers.
08:48When they retaliate, they'll be hurting themselves, but also hurting U.S. exporters.
08:54The coming months will be crucial in determining the long-term effects of President Trump's
08:58tariff policies on the U.S. and global economies.
09:02Bira Report, India Today.
09:08President Trump is keeping his promise, his electoral promise of a massive crackdown on
09:13illegal immigrants.
09:16He's been cracking down on illegal immigrants and sending them back to their respective
09:20countries, India being one of them.
09:23There have been a few batches that have already reached India.
09:26And this is just the beginning of his four-year term.
09:32Handcuffed and shackled, illegal Indian immigrants were deported from the USA in three batches
09:38in the past one month.
09:40The first batch of 104 arrived in India on 5th February.
09:44Their deportation cost a furor in the Indian Parliament.
09:48A week later, the Indian Prime Minister met the U.S. President Donald Trump.
09:52And in Washington, D.C., he agreed to take in all verified illegal Indian immigrants.
10:38A week later, 119 Indian immigrants were deported on 15th February, and another batch
10:48of 112 arrived in India the very next day.
10:52Right after the U.S. President assumed Oval Office, he started a crackdown on illegal
10:57immigrants.
10:58Today, I'm also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and
11:05Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo
11:11Bay.
11:12Most people don't even know about it.
11:13We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening
11:21the American people.
11:22Some of them are so bad, we don't even trust the countries to hold them because we don't
11:26want them coming back.
11:27So we're going to send them out to Guantanamo.
11:30This will double our capacity immediately.
11:32Right?
11:33And tough.
11:34It's a tough place to get out of.
11:37The very next day, a U.S. Air Force plane repatriated 80 Guatemalan nationals.
11:44Some families asked their local priest to take guardianship of their children as fears
11:49of deportation among migrants in the U.S. loomed large.
11:53U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE, arrests increased across the
11:58country with about 900 to 1,200 people picked up per day.
12:04A daily average of arrests by ICE in the fiscal year 2024 was 311, as per its own reports.
12:17Activists started protesting on streets against Donald Trump's immigration policy and ICE
12:22arrests.
12:24Some pushed back against what they call intimidation tactics by U.S. President Donald Trump's administration
12:30vowing to protect immigrant families.
12:34And if we allow people to identify us or put us in categories of criminal or any other
12:42thing just by the way we look, then we're going back to a time that was very dangerous
12:49in this country, specifically for people that looked like me.
12:52The Mexican National Guard started to conduct extensive patrols across the United States
12:57and Mexico border amid growing migration concerns.
13:04I don't think it's necessary for migrants because migrants are poor people who are being
13:09displaced and don't come to commit crimes in Tijuana or the United States.
13:14The ones we should be going after are elsewhere, not at the border or in the shelters.
13:22U.S. flights kept sending immigrants back to different countries.
13:27President Trump also cracked down on birthright citizenship for children born in the United
13:31States to parents who are not citizens or lawful permanent residents with an executive
13:37order signed on the very first day in office.
13:40Federal courts temporarily blocked the order, calling it blatantly unconstitutional.
13:45The U.S. president is all prepared to fight out a legal battle to implement it nonetheless.
13:51Mr. President, a U.S. judge temporarily blocked the birthright citizenship order.
13:56Do you have any reaction?
13:57No, obviously we'll appeal it.
13:59They put it before a certain judge in Seattle, I guess.
14:03And there's no surprises with that judge.
14:08Arrest and deportation of immigrants remain a top agenda, marking a continuity from his
14:12previous regime in the USA in the first month of his second term.
14:17Bureau Report, India Today.
14:21A constant feature in U.S. President Donald Trump's office has been Elon Musk, Tesla chief
14:28and the head of DOGE, Department of Government Efficiency.
14:32There are many policies that Elon Musk is bringing about to change how the government
14:37functions and how U.S. administration really looks.
14:40And there has been a major pushback by Democrats, but that has not wavered or changed how the
14:46president looks at what Elon Musk is doing.
14:49There's a telling picture, not just a picture on the Time magazine, but also memes that
14:55show that in all probability, it is Elon Musk who's in control.
14:59But President Trump has put all those controversies and issues to rest, making it very clear that
15:08Elon Musk takes orders from him.
15:11Nonetheless, a very important feature of Trump administration this time around.
15:16A key figure in Donald Trump's administration of the second term is none other than Elon
15:26Musk.
15:27He was there when the elected president was calling and talking to world leaders, much
15:33before he took over officially.
15:35He's there sometimes even with his young son at the Oval Office while the U.S. president
15:41goes about running the country.
15:44Recently, during an interview with the network, also the Tesla CEO was present.
15:48What we're really trying to do here is restore the will of the people through the president.
15:55And what we're finding is that there's an unelected bureaucracy.
15:59Speaking of unelected, there's a vast federal bureaucracy that is implacably opposed to
16:06the president and the cabinet.
16:09He spoke about the unelected bureaucracy while the opposition in the country is fighting
16:13against his appointment as a DOJ chief, as he's not elected either and has no constitutional
16:19authority.
16:20But he has the president of America by his side.
16:25Now I see, they want you two to start, they want a divorce.
16:29They want you two to start hating each other.
16:31And they try, oh, President Elon Musk, for example.
16:35You do know that they're doing that to you?
16:37Oh, I see it all the time.
16:38They tried it, then they stopped.
16:40They have many different things of hatred.
16:43Actually, Elon called me.
16:46He said, you know, they're trying to drive us apart.
16:48I said, absolutely.
16:49No, they said, we have breaking news.
16:51Donald Trump has ceded control of the presidency to Elon Musk.
16:56President Musk will be attending a cabinet meeting tonight at 8 o'clock.
17:00And I say, it's just so obvious.
17:03They're so bad at it.
17:04I used to think they were good at it.
17:05They're actually bad at it.
17:06Because if they were good at it, I'd never be president.
17:09Because I think nobody in history has ever gotten more bad publicity than me.
17:14I could do the greatest things.
17:16I get 98% bad publicity.
17:18I could do outside of you and a few of your very good friends.
17:22It's like the craziest thing.
17:24But you know what I have learned, Elon?
17:25The people are smart.
17:26They get it.
17:27Yeah, they do.
17:28They get it.
17:30On the very first day in office,
17:32President Trump established DOJ through an executive order.
17:35This new department was created to streamline federal operations
17:39and reduce government spending with the Tesla CEO at the helm.
17:44He announced in a social media post
17:46that his department is working on shutting down U.S. aid
17:49in his federal cost-cutting scheme.
17:53Next came the claims that millions of dollars were being spent
17:57through U.S. aid in different countries for political landscape building.
18:01And the list included India, among others.
18:04Reportedly, $21 million was spent for voter turnout in India.
18:09It has caused a whole lot of debate across the world.
18:12But Elon Musk remains unfazed.
18:16We do need to delete entire agencies
18:21as opposed to leave part of them behind.
18:24Because if you leave part of them behind,
18:26it's easy.
18:27It's kind of like leaving a weed.
18:29If you don't remove the roots of the weed,
18:32then it's easy for the weed to grow back.
18:34But if you remove the roots of the weed,
18:36it doesn't stop weeds from ever growing back,
18:38but it makes it harder.
18:39So we have to really delete entire agencies, many of them.
18:44DOJ's primary mission has been to cut federal expenditures.
18:48Musk claimed that the task force has saved over $1 billion
18:52by canceling various contracts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
18:57The initiative has led to layoffs in major health agencies,
19:00including the CDC and FDA,
19:03as part of a broader effort to optimize staffing levels
19:06across the federal workforce.
19:08And there are protests across America
19:10against Elon Musk and DOJ going on.
19:14If the will of the president is not implemented,
19:17and the president is representative of the people,
19:20that means the will of the people is not being implemented.
19:23And that means we don't live in a democracy,
19:26we live in a bureaucracy.
19:27And so I think what we're seeing here is
19:29the sort of thrashing of the bureaucracy
19:32as we try to restore democracy and the will of the people.
19:37They are a pair out to clean the system from within.
19:40They are men with a mission,
19:41but their togetherness has also caused President Trump's approval rating
19:45to drop in the past one month.
19:50President Donald Trump this time around wants to be a man of peace.
19:53He's proposing peace talks and has engaged Russia,
19:57keeping Ukraine and the European countries out.
20:00He's proposed peace between Israel and Hamas,
20:03but also spoken about a Riviera and Gaza Strip
20:06without keeping the Gaza stakeholders in the conversation.
20:11With such proposals, can he really bring about peace?
20:14And at what cost?
20:17A news conference between Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky
20:22and the U.S. President Donald Trump's Ukraine envoy
20:25was cancelled at U.S. request,
20:28revealed a Kyiv official on the day
20:30President Trump's second term completed a month in office.
20:34U.S. President Donald Trump has stirred significant controversy
20:38by suggesting that Ukraine is responsible for the war with Russia.
20:44He refuses to have elections.
20:46It's low in the real Ukrainian polls.
20:49I mean, how can you be high when every city is being demolished?
20:52It's hard to be high.
20:53Somebody said, oh, no, his polls are good.
20:55Give me a break.
20:56Every city is being demolished.
20:58They look like a demolition site, every single one of them.
21:02And the only thing he was really good at was playing Joe Biden like a fiddle.
21:07He played him like a fiddle.
21:08That's an expression we use, yes, sir,
21:10to say that he's pretty easy, pretty easy.
21:15A dictator without elections.
21:17Zelensky better move fast or he's not going to have a country left.
21:20Got to move, got to move fast
21:22because that war is going in the wrong direction.
21:24In the meantime, we're successfully negotiating an end to the war with Russia.
21:31President Trump's assertions came right after the peace talk
21:34between U.S. and Russian diplomats ended in Saudi Arabia,
21:38excluding Ukrainian representatives.
21:41This exclusion has frustrated Ukraine and Europe.
21:45They feel sidelined.
21:50I'm convinced that for Ukraine and for our region, for Europe,
21:53it is critical that any negotiations to end the war
21:57are not happening behind the backs of the key parties
21:59affected by the Russian aggression.
22:02The American president hit back hard at the Ukrainian president.
22:07He refuses to have elections.
22:09It's low in the real Ukrainian polls.
22:12I mean, how can you be high when every city is being demolished?
22:15It's hard to be high.
22:16Somebody said, oh, no, his polls are good.
22:18Give me a break.
22:21Prompt came the reply from Kiev.
22:23Since we are talking about 4%, we have seen this disinformation.
22:26We understand that it is coming from Russia.
22:30We understand this, and we have evidence that these numbers
22:32are being discussed between America and Russia.
22:35That is unfortunately, President Trump,
22:37with great respect for him as a leader of the people,
22:39which we respect very much, the American people,
22:41who constantly support us, unfortunately, lives in this disinformation space.
22:45We understand this, and we have evidence that these numbers
22:48are being discussed between America and Russia.
22:51Unfortunately, lives in this disinformation space.
23:01President Trump's comments have drawn sharp criticism
23:04from European leaders who went on a huddle in Paris
23:08the night before US and Russia were to talk peace in Riyadh.
23:12The war in Ukraine will mark its third anniversary on 24 February.
23:18I love Ukraine, but Zelensky has done a terrible job.
23:21His country is shattered.
23:23And millions and millions of people have unnecessarily died.
23:27And you can't bring a war to an end if you don't talk to both sides.
23:32You got to talk. They haven't been talking for three years.
23:36Not only Ukraine, US President Donald Trump
23:39is trying to bring peace in the Middle East as well.
23:42Take a look at the death in the Middle East
23:44and the death that's taking place between Russia and Ukraine.
23:47It's been going on and we're going to end it.
23:50There's no profit for anyone in having World War III
23:53and you're not so far away from it.
23:55I'll tell you right now, you're not so far away.
23:58If we would have had this administration for another year,
24:00you would have been in World War III and now it's not going to happen.
24:04He has reiterated his plan to buy and own Gaza
24:08amid ongoing tensions in the region.
24:10And I don't want to be cute.
24:12I don't want to be a wise guy but the Riviera of the Middle East,
24:15this could be something that could be so magnificent.
24:21He promised that the US would take responsibility for rebuilding Gaza
24:25and ensuring that Hamas does not regain power there.
24:29The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too.
24:34We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous,
24:38unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site
24:41level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings.
24:46President Trump's first month in office has set the tone
24:50for a broader strategy of asserting US influence in global conflicts
24:55while proposing controversial solutions that often provoke backlash
25:00from international leaders and allies.
25:02But will they stop the violence and give peace a chance?
25:06That will be decided in the next few years.
25:09Our safety will be restored.
