The Vatican says the Pope’s health condition has again improved, days after it was revealed he is battling double pneumonia.

00:00Pope Francis has spent his seventh night in hospital, where he was initially admitted
00:07with bronchitis, but is now battling pneumonia in both of his lungs.
00:12In its latest update, the Vatican revealed that his condition appears to be improving
00:17once again.
00:18He doesn't have a fever and his heart is working well.
00:21In earlier updates, we learned that he's up and about out of bed.
00:25He's alert and he's eating.
00:27He's also been taking phone calls, doing paperwork and other light papal duties while
00:32he recovers in hospital.
00:34The Vatican said that he'll remain in hospital to be treated for what's been described as
00:38a complex clinical situation for as long as is necessary.
00:42In his early 20s, he had part of his right lung removed due to a bout of pneumonia then,
00:47so he's particularly susceptible to respiratory illnesses.
00:51Now here at St. Peter's Basilica, it appears to be business as usual with preparations
00:56for the Vatican's Jubilee celebrations this year continuing, which Pope Francis is expected
01:02to be involved in.
01:04He will, however, miss the Sunday Mass here at the Basilica.
01:07The faithful that are attending have been praying for him and offering well wishes for
01:11his swift recovery.
01:13During a press conference today, one of the cardinals was asked, you know, what his condition
01:18is like, and he said that if you want Pope Francis to rest, he needs to be hospitalized.
01:23He did not, however, rule out the possibility that the Pope could resign if his condition
01:27doesn't improve.
01:29So not out of the woods yet, however, some good news from this part of the world.
