The Monkey Movie - Mr. Perkins Would Like to Say a Few Words to You
Transcript
00:00Oh, hello there.
00:17Perhaps you know me as Osgood Perkins, writer and director of a movie called Blonde Legs.
00:25Don't mind him, he's just resting.
00:29I'd like to talk to you about my next motion picture, a fiendishly clever tale called The
00:33Monkey, based on the short story by Stephen King.
00:38Our protagonist, Hal Shelbourne, is something of an unlucky stiff.
00:43Despite his best intentions, everyone around him has a nasty habit of, well, dying.
00:48One after another, after another, after another.
00:52There are decapitations and eviscerations, electrocutions and impalements, a disembowelment
00:59and infestation, an immolation, a conflagration, an exsanguination and a defenestration.
01:05In other words, there's a little something for everyone.
01:08Oh, which reminds me, the heart of the matter is a beloved childhood toy, namely a monkey.
01:15You know the kind.
01:16You wind it up and the delightful thing comes to life, banging on its little drum.
01:21But as it turns out, this amusing plaything has a mind of its own, a rather diabolical
01:27mind at that.
01:29But let's find out, shall we?
01:31Adorable fellow and so lifelike with his little red vest and whimsical smile.
01:38To make him come alive, all you need to do is turn the brass key in his back.
01:47For every cause, there's an effect and no action is without consequence.
01:53Allow me to demonstrate.
01:54You simply turn the key and see what happens.
01:59Perhaps I shouldn't ruin the surprise.
02:02Better to let you see for yourself.
02:05Please join me for my new trip.
02:07It should prove to be fascinating.
02:09A veritable cornucopia of thrills and chills, a heartwarming tale of death and dismemberment.
02:15And if a good time is what you're after, you have my word, it's more fun than a barrel
02:18of, well, you know the rest.
02:25Come on baby, let the good time roll.
02:28Come on baby, let me thrill your soul.
