00:00Delhi is set to get its first woman chief, not first, but first, in fact, chief minister, first time MLA, who will be Rekha Gupta.
00:09But besides that, what about the cabinet? Vijayendra Gupta, who is the senior vice-president of BJP, has been chosen to be the speaker in the Delhi Assembly.
00:19And we know how crucial that position is because of the influence it has in the Delhi Assembly.
00:24Here's what's interesting for Vijayendra Gupta's story and why it matters to him that he's been chosen as speaker.
00:30He was one of the most active and perhaps aggressive voices for the BJP in the Assembly, which always prompted the speaker then to kick him out.
00:39He would always be taken out. There have been dramatic images of him being marched about, carried out of the Delhi Assembly previously.
00:46Now he will be presiding over that very same Assembly. He will be the speaker.
00:51And just look at how things turned out for Vijayendra Gupta. He'll be a smiling man today.
00:57He was in life, it's gone full circle for him as someone who was so aggressive in the speaker, almost always was, in fact, marched out of the Assembly.
01:07Now he's going to be presiding over that very Assembly.
01:11Let me take this across to our reporters.
01:13I've got Piyush Bishra joining us live.
01:16Piyush did tell you yesterday that there is a strong, strong chance of Rekha Gupta being named as the chief minister.
01:24We have Shreya Chatterjee also live with us.
01:26Piyush, I'm going to come across to you.
01:28Good morning. First of all, congratulations on getting the CM pick right.
01:32But Vijayendra Gupta as the speaker.
01:35And if you look at the entire cabinet also, Piyush, you've got all of the senior leaders who many consider as contenders for the CM post being accommodated now in the cabinet.
01:44Well, absolutely, Akshita.
01:51Almost all of them who were in the fray, who were contending for the top post have now been accommodated in the capital.
01:58And BJP has also given a good equation of caste combination in this entire cabinet.
02:04But remember that Parvesh Maharaj is a Sikh, Kapil Bishra is a Brahmin and Pankaj Singh is a Purvanchal face.
02:14Then Ravindra Singh, he is a Dalit face.
02:18And Ashish Singh is a Punjabi face.
02:20So every caste has now been accommodated.
02:23But the topmost caste which has made to the topmost position is the Baniya.
02:28Remember that BJP is a party which is known as a party of Baniyas and preference has now been given to Rekha Gupta.
02:34She is now going to take an oath in a few minutes from now.
02:38Right now I'm present at Ramlila Maidan.
02:40And to our viewers, let us also try to show you the pictures from where I'm reporting.
02:45Three grand stages have now been set up here at Ramlila Maidan.
02:49The centre stage is the same stage where the oath-taking ceremony will take place.
02:53And then we have two different stages at the right and the left of the centre stage.
03:04At the centre stage and then on my left-hand side of the stage which is there.
03:09On these stages are the leaders of BJP.
03:12They are leaders and celebrities and other diplomats.
03:16They will be given the place.
03:18I'm going to come back to you.
03:19Let me bring in Shreya Chatterjee now for more details really on why Vijendra Gupta has been chosen as the speaker.
03:26Shreya, I'm sure the BJP sees the irony in the message they're sending across
03:30by choosing someone like Vijendra Gupta to now be the speaker
03:33in the very same assembly that he faced the harshest of crackdowns.
03:39Well, absolutely.
03:41And you know, we've seen the kind of fight that he's also put forth as the leader of the opposition.
03:46Remember all those letters that he'd shot against the Aam Aadmi Party,
03:50especially to the LG where also we've seen orders initiated.
03:54The recent one which has come from the, for the PWD action that's also been coming in.
04:00So you can understand that this man is someone who's extremely important.
04:04He's an old guard for the BJP.
04:06And that's exactly why we are seeing that all these permutation combinations
04:10very nicely kept in mind in choosing the CM, the six ministers, the speaker as well.
04:17So clearly the stage is all set.
04:19And today is the big day for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
04:22As they've ended, they've brought in the national capital.
04:25Akshita, I'll just show you the car of the CM, which is ready to head towards the Ramlila Maidan.
04:31Shortly Rekha Gupta will be coming out of her residence and she will be leaving from here
04:36is what we are given to understand for her oath-taking ceremony
04:41where she will officially become the fourth woman chief minister of the national capital.
04:50So it's going to be of course a historic moment for the Bharatiya Janata Party here in the national capital.
04:57And they've chosen a woman chief minister to be at the helm of affairs.
05:01So obviously expectations right up there from Rekha Gupta
05:04for her to be leading the carpet, for her to be making the sweeping changes
05:08that the BJP has promised in the national capital.
05:12Let me continue to show you the first line of celebrations that are taking place
05:16as you've got in fact everyone, all of BJP gather, dancing, celebrating the fact
05:22that the BJP is back in power in the national capital.
05:25And they've waited rather patiently for the last two weeks for this moment.
05:29For the last two weeks they've been hoping that very soon they will be out here celebrating
05:34the formation of a BJP government.
05:36And now finally with the announcement we will in fact see now all of the BJP gather
05:44coming together and celebrating.
05:46So the crowds here expect it to only spread further.
