00:00Good morning.
00:03Labor was in Perth South to continue building its election pitch, promising to grow the
00:08number of tradies through more fee-free TAFE courses, growing its wage subsidy program
00:13and helping pay the wages of mature age apprentices.
00:17That means we'll get more tradies into the system, more tradies on the tools, more tradies
00:22building more homes.
00:24It is targeted to those particular occupations that we know are in shortage and also the
00:29sectors in construction that we know are growing really quickly at the moment.
00:33The opposition insisting its plan is better.
00:36The $600 million infrastructure fund that will actually assist and facilitate the unlocking
00:43of up to 100,000 homes.
00:45The Liberals continuing their focus on law and order, promising an extra $20 million
00:49for domestic violence refuges and to criminalise coercive control within a year of taking power.
00:55This government has simply dragged their feet and failed to act.
00:59We will make it a priority.
01:01There are often forms of abuse that go misunderstood or non-identified.
01:06So having coercive control legislation in place provides a framework to be able to respond
01:11accordingly.
01:12Labor's also promised to criminalise coercive control but says it's not rushing because
01:17it wants to get it done properly.
01:19That's an approach backed by the peak body for domestic violence services in New South
01:23Wales where similar laws took effect mid last year.
01:26The last thing we want to do is put victim survivors through a court process and fines
01:31that we aren't getting the convictions because we haven't got the law right.
01:36The Liberals were again distracted by another candidate controversy.
01:39Darling Range candidate Paul Mansfield shown screenshots of social media posts made a decade
01:44ago including two degrading women.
01:47We're not making any other comment in relation to that.
01:50You don't want to address the previous posts?
01:53Do you want to clarify if they were your posts or not?
01:57I've not, I can't recall those posts.
02:00She was standing next to a candidate who made degrading and in fact disgusting comments
02:08about women.
02:09The party says it was aware of those posts when Mr Mansfield was pre-selected but he
02:13told them they didn't reflect his values today.
