00:31My office, through a FOI, tried to find out what the size and amount of the fees are,
00:38and revealed that over £105,000 are paid in fees to the Crown Estate every year between
00:46the councils of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire to enable public access
00:52to land owned by the estate.
00:55This includes, for example, £27,000 per year for access to the River Tevi and the
01:03coastline in Ceredigion.

01:07My point is that our local authorities, in the face of rising costs and an increase in
01:09national insurance contributions, are considering cuts to public services in order to meet growing
01:16deficits in their budget expenditure.
01:19In the case of Ceredigion, the council faces a shortfall of around £5 million and is considering
01:25raising council tax by up to 14 per cent.

01:34the fact that councils in south-west Wales alone send over £100,000 annually over the
01:42border to the UK Treasury and the Royal Family, and that the process of transferring responsibility
