00:00Now, I think that when it comes to the most improved player,
00:02this is another one that we've seen a significant shift.
00:05Gilbert, Norman Powell of the Clippers has been playing
00:08fantastic and all of a sudden now, he is plus 110 to win the
00:12award. Cade Cunningham is the favorite at minus 115. Tyler
00:15Heroes had a fantastic season, but I mean, Tyler Heroes been
00:18good now for a while. Maybe he's just better now than what
00:21he was the last couple of years. So, is it a two-player
00:24race here? You think for this? It does feel like that and
00:27honestly, I'm not a fan of the fact that it's a two-player
00:29race. I think back to when I was a kid and I got good grades
00:32and I wanted my parents to reward me for and they tell me
00:34that's what you're supposed to do. Cade Cunningham is a former
00:37number one overall pick and I think that it kind of takes
00:39away from the spirit of the award to give him most improved
00:42player and that's not to take away from the season that he's
00:44had. He got an all-star nod because of it and he's becoming
00:47the player that we all envisioned him being. The Pistons
00:50have turned things around because of him, but I don't
00:52necessarily think that that warrants winning most improved
00:55player. I wonder if the voters will agree with me. I think
00:57if they do, then they'll give the award to Norman Powell and
01:00there's plenty of time for Powell to become the favorite
01:03again, but I do think there's good value in getting him right
01:05now at plus money. He's a guy who in his 10th NBA season at
01:0831 years old is really redefining himself as a starter
01:11for the Clippers averaging over 24 points per game. I think
01:15that that is what the spirit of most improved player should
01:18be about and I think that we lost the plot a little bit
01:20giving it to John Moran a few years ago. Again, a great award
01:24for him and he earned it becoming a star to superstar,
01:27but still he was a former number two overall pick. So if
01:29we can get back to giving it to a guy in their 10th season
01:32redefining their career and really taking on a new role
01:35in stride. I think that Norman Powell should win the award.
01:37So it'll be interesting to see how it happens between him
01:39and Kate Cunningham.
