A man has died in a house fire in Sydney's west this morning, with the blaze believed to have been caused by a lithium-ion battery.

00:00Emergency services were called to a home on Rowley Road in Guildford this morning following
00:07reports of a fire.
00:08Crews managed to extinguish the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the property.
00:13According to New South Wales Police, five people managed to escape the home while it
00:18was alight.
00:19However, emergency services found a man inside.
00:22He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.
00:25He is yet to be formally identified, however, he is believed to be a man in his early 20s.
00:30The other five occupants were treated for smoke inhalation.
00:33Fortunately, this bedroom door was closed so the fire was contained to the bedroom of
00:38origin but that bedroom is extensively damaged.
00:41An investigation has now been launched into the circumstances surrounding the blaze, with
00:46early indications suggesting it was a lithium-ion battery on charge for an e-scooter that exploded.
00:52According to Fire and Rescue, this is the third incident in the past 24 hours, with
00:57crews now on average battling a lithium-ion fire once a day for the past month.
