00:00Meanwhile, the Department of Migrant Workers has returned their mishandled Balikbayan boxes to the owners.

00:14Laisel, more than 40 delayed and mishandled Balikbayan boxes

00:18that are in a warehouse in Valenzuela City

00:21have been returned by the Department of Migrant Workers to the OFW owners.

00:27This is followed by the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:32to protect and take care of the Balikbayan boxes

00:36so that the overseas Filipino workers will have a better time.

00:41The DMW's role in picking up the Balikbayan boxes

00:45is that of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration,

00:48as well as the Bureau of Customs.

00:50In the OFW's program on Radio Pilipinas,

00:53the DMW informed the OFW about the Balikbayan boxes scam.

00:59They also made sure that the Bureau of Customs

01:03released a list of registered and legitimate Balikbayan boxes forwarders

01:08so that they will not be victimized.

01:11We trusted the registrar and the legitimate Balikbayan box forwarders.

01:18We're working on around 2,500 boxes that have been abandoned

01:24that cannot be delivered because their forwarders left them abroad.

01:33The Balikbayan boxes were sent to Cavite, Batangas, and Negros Occidentala.

01:39Aside from this, the Agency of Action Fund Assistance

01:43also distributed them to the victims of the Balikbayan boxes scam.

01:46As of last year,

01:48almost 10,000 Balikbayan boxes were delivered by the DMW to its owners.

01:55It's important that you deliver them in a safe place

02:02so that they can be delivered to their homes.

02:08Meanwhile, more than 70 OFWs from Lebanon

02:12have availed the government's repatriation program to their homes.

02:16In total, more than 1,000 OFWs and more than 60 dependents

02:22have returned to their countries from Lebanon

02:25since the agreement between Israel and the Hamas Group in 2023.

02:31The various government agencies,

02:33including the Financial Assistance and Livelihood Program,

02:36also promised to support them.

02:39Aside from this,

02:4023 of the repatriated OFWs from Israel have returned to the Philippines.

02:46In total, more than 1,000 OFWs and more than 30 dependents

02:51have returned to their countries since 2023.

02:54They will also receive support from other concerned government agencies

02:59such as the Upskilling Program and Life Assistance.
