US Vice President JD Vance arrived at the Munich Security Conference to deliver a fiery speech. He criticised European nations for burdening America with defence budgets and asked them to "step up" and maintain their own security. Vance added that Europe is retreating from freedom of speech and common democratic values. He also slammed traditional US allies for their immigration policies, especially Germany. Taking a dig at climate activist Greta Thunberg, Vance said "If America can survive her, then Europe can survive a few months of Elon Musk." Notably, Vance was defending Musk's interference in European politics. Vance also downplayed the Russia-Ukraine war, saying he hoped for a settlement in the region.
