The Hatta Honey Festival that celebrates the beekeeping farmers and honey makers of the UAE returned to Dubai’s Hatta on Tuesday, making it the ‘sweet’ time to visit the mountainous village.
Dubai Municipality launched the 7th edition of the Hatta Honey Festival at the Municipality’s Hatta Hall. From international award winning Sidr and Samr honey from the UAE to the expensive Omani Frankincense honey, many varieties of natural honey are being showcased at the festival that will run till December 31.

00:50The laboratory role is to test and to make sure that the honey in the festival is fulfilling
00:56the GSO standard as a specification of the honey.
01:01We are doing different type of tests, like total sugar, the content of gelicose and fructose,
01:07the percentage of diastase enzyme, and to check that the honey quality is reaching to
01:13the level that the consumer can benefit from it.
01:16Based on the previous history, all are natural, but still we are making sure we are collecting
01:21all samples here to test.
01:23As I told you just now, anything, it will not be within the scope, it will be excluded
01:27from the festival.
01:28In UAE, we mainly have cedar, summer, we have from flowers, and we have ghaf.
01:35But they are bringing as well, like the beekeepers, like they are doing a great job, and we have
01:41now algerm honey, and different types.
01:44They are trying to find, it's based on the type of tree we have in UAE.
01:48Every year we are getting so many participation requests to participate in the exhibition,
01:53because today we are focusing on the festival, and we are doing it in a scientific way.
01:59It gives more confidence for the consumer, so they will buy more.
02:03So everyone is benefiting from this exhibition, since we are fulfilling the scientific way
02:09of testing, and fulfilling the requirement of the end-user at the end.
02:14The confidence is the key of empowering this sector.

03:15We won also the Talha al-Bari, the competition in the London Honey Show.

03:22We have something very rare, and we have something normal, and we are, our farm is producing
03:27the cedar and the summer mainly, and the gulf honeys.
03:31So now we can see, here something is very rare, this is leban, it's very important,
03:38and it has cortisol, this is new information.
03:42Not available in any other honey, cortisol in the honey.
03:46And also we have cedar and summer, this is very famous, and they know, this is the gum
03:52honey, it's even from Oman also.
03:56The white honey, we are bringing from outside, but it's coming this color, but after they
04:01are preparing in the factories and mix it with the special producing, it become like
04:07this color.
04:09Also we have fruits honey, it is like a white honey mixed with the raspberry only.
04:16We can replace it with the jam, normal jam for the breakfast, for the kids, for the schools,
04:22something like this.
04:24Also gulf, this is the national honey for UAE, you know the gulf honey.
04:32This trees is local trees, and it's owned by the rules, and this honey has special things,
04:40it has a little bit of the protein, which any other honey they don't have it.
04:45It's only this kind of the honey of the gulf, and it's very famous and it's very healthy
04:51to use and very sweet.
