As Google releases its list of top UK tourist attractions, we see what the public think about places to visit where they live.

00:00According to the ONS, that's the Office of National Statistics, the country from
00:05which the largest number of tourists come from is the United States, which may
00:09come as a bit of surprise to some people because of course maybe people felt
00:12that sort of, or feel that people come from elsewhere, well they sure do,
00:16but not in sort of the numbers that the Americans still come. Over five
00:20million a year on the latest statistics for America, followed by France
00:25and then we sort of have a whole host of other European countries. So Britain
00:29is still seeing this as a sort of place that people want to come and visit. The
00:32fact that they sort of come to London is again no great surprise because of
00:36course so much is packed into London. London of course is in many ways like a
00:40sort of a working museum of sorts, but nonetheless of course you know the whole
00:44of Britain is still seen as a place which is really sort of great to visit.
00:48Americans I've known who've come to this country, they tend to sort of do maybe
00:51London, maybe sort of a day trip somewhere else and then they sort of
00:54head elsewhere to Europe. So the fact that tourism is still sort of a
00:58great industry is no great surprise. Unfortunately of course the one thing
01:02that we can't guarantee any time of year is the weather. As we've heard tourists
01:06come to the UK from all over the world and at the moment the exchange rate is
01:09favourable for tourists coming into the country. Yeah I mean of course we hear a
01:13lot about this in terms of international sort of trade and sort of the pound
01:16going up or down against the sort of the euro and sort of the dollar and dare I
01:20say it, as the sort of the pound drops of course that makes it sort of better
01:23value. Going to sort of the capital you're going to get some bargains but
01:27dare I say it, you're going to have to sort of probably pay top whack to sort of stay
01:30there and eat out. So these are sort of big problems which I'm sure people factor
01:33in. While Buckingham Palace tops Google's list and three of the top five are in or
01:38just outside London, there are many places around the country that are
01:41worthy of tourists time. I'd always say you know get out and about and if you
01:45can sort of do a canal journey or take a sort of a rail trip on sort of one of
01:49the old sort of steam railways, you see a lot of it or the country from a
01:53different perspective you know perhaps you know Scotland you know that can be
01:58good if you get the right weather.
