00:00DNA found on Una Crown's fingernails was crucial in this case and new testing
00:05techniques gave the vital breakthrough we needed to charge Newton with her
00:09murder. For more than a decade David Newton thought he'd gotten away with the
00:14most horrendous crime but jurors saw through his lies and this verdict shows
00:19you cannot hide forever. I'd like to commend the 2013 team and the
00:25current investigation team for their painstaking work. We've been supported by
00:29incredible experts, witnesses and specialists who've helped us discover
00:33who was responsible. Newton will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars
00:39and our thoughts are with Una's family at this time who after more than a decade
00:45got the closure they deserve and the answers they have longed for. Finally this case
00:51demonstrates a police commitment to continually reviewing unsolved cases and
00:55seeking new lines of inquiry. No unsolved murder case is ever closed.
