00:00I am who I am today because of the things that I've gone through and if I hadn't gone through that
00:05and I hadn't left Joan Malone I would have never started again.
00:11I was a young girl with a whole heap of dreams. I'd come from a family with very little money so
00:18from the age of 11 I was the, I had to put food on the table. You know I had a tough upbringing
00:24but a happy upbringing to say the least but it made me and at the age of 18 I was already
00:31starting a first entrepreneurial business. I left school at 15, no qualifications, no uni,
00:36nothing. Just this gut feeling of business and I've still got it today. I mean I kind of rely
00:44on those feelings. I ran a small skincare clinic so I started off in skincare and I would make
00:49little tiny body lotions and bath washes and give them away to all the people that came for
00:55their faces and one day one lady bought a hundred bottles and that was, and it's funny in business
01:01and I go around the world telling my story and it's always the same story and people, I can see
01:05people come alive with the story because it's so relatable to people and I think it's not up there,
01:13it hits right there in your heart and you think if she can do it I can do it and I love, again I
01:18love that. We had our first shop when my husband, so my husband is my business partner, still my
01:24husband is still my business partner and my best friend and we opened our first shop and then
01:31within five years it was so successful and we were doing things that no one had ever done but
01:36because we had no protocols, we had no strategy, we would just, I would feel it, create it, sell it.
01:44You know it was just such an easy process and as the business got bigger and bigger our pool
01:49of money got smaller and smaller so within five years we'd sold the Estee Lauder Corporation
01:56and life changed from that moment. I'm not somebody that looks back, I'm always, I've
02:02always got my eyes looking forward because if you look back you trip yourself up so I don't,
02:06would I have done things yet differently? Yes, of course, I mean I haven't lived a perfect life,
02:11neither have you. Some of the things I've said to people I regret but the things that have happened
02:16to me I wouldn't change because it made me either think differently or I mean even my brush with
02:25breast cancer, you know, it changed me, it made me see life differently. Would I want it to happen
02:32again? No, but I'm not, I'm not into rubbing things out in your life, you know, I am who I am today
02:39because of the things that I've gone through and if I hadn't gone through that
02:43and I hadn't left Jo Malone I would have never started again and this second business
02:49has been much more challenging but much more rewarding, you know, it's been a whole
02:55different emotional journey, you know, getting there so I don't regret things. I would have
03:01done things a little differently if I'd sold my company again. I still would have sold it to the
03:06Lord of Corporation, I think they're an amazing family but I probably would have sold it slightly
03:11differently with connections with my name, yeah, that's being very honest.
