00:00Hello guys and welcome once again to our golf news coverage of the World T20 Cup in UAE.
00:16It's been another thrilling day, doubleheader, big win for England and also for a surprise
00:21package in Namibia today.
00:25Once again we're joined by Anas Sajjan, Mr Cricket UAE himself and Satish.
00:31So first of all, Anas, I'll say hello to you.
00:33You're looking very dressed up for the occasion this evening.
00:36Thank you, Matt.
00:37Hello, Satish.
00:38Yes, I am dressed up.
00:39I am here for a friend's daughter's wedding, you know, so that's a special thing.
00:46Lovely, lovely.
00:47But anyways, let's get back to the World Cup.
00:50Well, in the morning game, or rather afternoon game, we saw what England is made of and they
00:56are the team to beat, to be very honest.
00:57The comprehensive win against Bangladesh and mind you, they are playing in subcontinent
01:02conditions and the way England beat them comprehensively almost by 8 wickets, if I'm not wrong.
01:07First they boldened out for 124 and then Jason Roy was on his own.
01:12And I'm afraid Bangladesh have to do a lot of catching up, Satish.
01:18Yeah, true.
01:19Absolutely.
01:20That is why even I saw that last game, I was there in Sharjah.
01:24Basically, I think Bangladesh batting is not up to the mark.
01:29They have some very good players, Mahmud Ullah, Mushfiqar and Litan Das, all are experienced
01:34players, of course, Shakib Alassin.
01:37But the problem is in the qualifiers, if you look at it, it was Shakib who got the team
01:42into the Super 12 with his all-round performance, batting as well as bowling.
01:47Now, I think he is not able to click in batting and maybe the pressure, maybe he is tired.
01:52So the last couple of games, he has not been clicking.
01:55And of course, the others are not coming up to the party and I've said it time and again
02:01that the Bangladesh batting is going to let them down because in the subcontinent wickets,
02:06you can bold the other team, restrict them, but you still need some runs to win the match.
02:13I think that's where the trouble lies with Bangladesh.
02:16Indeed.
02:17Obviously, there were some nice little cameos from the bowling side for England as well
02:25with Mills and Livingston both getting amongst the wickets.
02:29Not the usual suspects this time, but they just showed that they are getting a contribution
02:32right throughout the team.
02:34You know what, Matt?
02:36I'm telling you now, watch out for this bowler, Taimur Mills.
02:38Why I'm telling you?
02:39Because he had come up very well when he had started his career.
02:43But then in the IPL, he failed.
02:44He lost his confidence.
02:45But now again, he's come back with a lot of resurgence.
02:49And he's a bowler to watch out because he's got different types of deliveries.
02:52You can't pick his deliveries up.
02:53He bowls a slow ball.
02:54He bowls a short bouncer.
02:55He's got a lot of variations.
02:57So he is, in fact, a good replacement, if you have to say, for Joper Archer.
03:02Correct.
03:03In fact, if you look at it, I think he played for RCB.
03:08I think his variations are effective because he can actually bowl the ball quite fast.
03:14He's one of the real quickies who can touch 150.
03:17I think that's where he got the back problem.
03:19And I think he didn't play well in the IPL, if I remember right.
03:23So he's actually a pretty, pretty quick fast bowler who can, with those variations, of
03:29course, can become even more lethal for the team.
03:31Yeah, as you said, he is a bowler to watch.
03:34And in these conditions, he can be really a handful for some of the best also.
03:39OK.
03:40And obviously, there was this another upset for Scotland, which I would say.
03:46Yes, Matt.
03:47Yes.
03:48True.
03:49I'm getting used to it now.
03:50And, you know, like, but again, just to touch on what was said there as well, even Scotland
03:55managed to beat this Bangladesh team.
03:56So there's definitely got issues there.
03:58Absolutely.
03:59Absolutely.
04:00But maybe I can't take anything away from them.
04:03That was an exceptional, first of all, crazy first over with three wickets and four balls.
04:10And then also a very solid batting display to get over the line.
04:13Oh, yes.
04:15Namibia look good from Oman.
04:17The last game, when they beat Ireland, after that, David Bizet is the main player for them.
04:23But today, as you said, you know, the other players also put their hands up.
04:27And I feel somewhere, you know, we all say that India, Pakistan, New Zealand are the
04:32tough teams and even Afghanistan.
04:34I'm not sure whether these guys might cause an upset, Namibia.
04:37They look a team which is good.
04:39If they're having their day, they might upset one of the teams.
04:42Correct.
04:43Correct.
04:44Correct.
04:45Absolutely.
04:46Yeah, I think that the teams will be sitting up and taking notice now because maybe when
04:52they were looking at that in Group 2, they were thinking, oh, well, we've got, you know,
04:56the big boys will all be thinking, well, we've got four points in the bag because we've got
04:59Namibia and Scotland in the group.
05:02Now they'll be going, hmm, not going to be quite as easy as they could have thought.
05:07I'm not sure some of the teams are going to be that complacent, but maybe there was an
05:11air of confidence that's now given way to a little bit more willingness.
05:18I think if I can chip in, I think the one issue with Namibia, of course, they didn't
05:23do any good for themselves is the batting, the way they batted, chasing such a low score.
05:28Maybe they could have waited.
05:29They could have played instead of losing six wickets, seven wickets, whatever the number
05:34of wickets are.
05:35It doesn't give you confidence to win such a low total like 108, 109.
05:41So you need to, even if your bowlers have done the job, so to get the confidence on
05:46the team going forward and looking forward, even the other teams taking notice of you
05:50is when you beat them with eight wickets to spare.
05:54Now what is happening is now though you say that, yes, my bowling is good and I can get
05:58you out, you're also telling the opposition that, yes, that is my weak point.
06:03Now my batsmen can crumble as well.
06:05So that wouldn't do any good for them.
06:08But of course, they have done exceedingly well.
06:09If I remember right, Namibia has got a total of 18 cricketers.
06:14And we are talking about the other teams, which has got thousands, millions, it's phenomenal
06:20for what they have done so far.
06:22Sure.
06:23They've got a good little unit there.
06:27Just one other thing is obviously England, just go back to them, two wins in the bag
06:33now.
06:34They're looking good for the knockouts.
06:35And even their run rate is exceptionally well.
06:39So even if they do have a little wobble, that run rate could come back to help them out
06:44if needed.
06:45Oh, yes.
06:47That's very important.
06:48And the first thing when they won against West Indies, they bowled them out for 55.
06:52Now again, today they chased it quite quickly against Bangladesh.
06:55So like you mentioned, if they have a wobble, this net run rate will help them in the end.
06:59Absolutely.
07:00I think net run rate will come into the picture in such a close group like Group 1.
07:06Because you have all the test-playing nations.
07:09And there are at least three teams who are certainly competent to qualify.
07:12Like you're looking at Australia, South Africa, England now, who are real contenders.
07:17I feel Sri Lanka will upset Australia tomorrow.
07:19I have a feeling.
07:20Yeah.
07:21No, Sri Lanka is not bad.
07:22That's what I think.
07:23You have Sri Lanka, as well as you have Bangladesh, you have West Indies, who can upset anybody
07:27on a given day.
07:29So it's good that you were keeping a good net run rate.
07:31Because in case if the points are equal among three teams, then the net run rate will certainly
07:36help you to go further.
07:37That's the whole point which I'm supporting what Mr. Aneesbhai has said.
07:42Okey-dokey.
07:43Well, it's no rest for the wicked.
07:45And we get to do it all again tomorrow, guys.
07:48Yes.
07:49These games just keep coming.
07:50They go fast.
