00:00We're delighted to swear in our next Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.
00:07Most of you know Tulsi.
00:08She's a fantastic woman.
00:10Tulsi, I want to just congratulate you, your husband, Abraham, your sister, and all of
00:16your friends.
00:17A lot of friends here.
00:18You have a lot of friends.
00:19I noticed that, huh?
00:20I'm grateful.
00:21They were all fighting, fighting for you.
00:23It worked out very well.
00:24Tulsi Gabbard is an American of extraordinary courage and exceptional patriotism.
00:30She's devoted her entire life to public service, and I've watched her for years on different
00:35shows and everything.
00:36I said, she's a woman of great common sense, and, you know, we like the common sense.
00:42It's a word that's being used a lot.
00:44I think we started it in terms of politics, but it's a word that's used a lot.
00:48It's usually pretty effective, too.
00:50And you really are.
00:51I want to congratulate you, even on Larry King.
00:54You know, you're very young.
00:55I don't know how you were Larry King, but you're very young.
00:59But you were, and you always had the situation covered properly.
01:04At 21 years old, Tulsi became the youngest woman ever elected to the Hawaii state legislature.
01:11After 9-11, she joined the Hawaii Army National Guard and deployed abroad three times and
01:17highly respected by everybody.
01:19So many people writing in letters saying she was so exceptional, even then.
01:24She continues to serve as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, and Tulsi also served
01:30four terms in the United States House of Representatives, where she was a member of the House Armed
01:35Services Committee.
01:36She is a former vice chair of the National Democratic Party.
01:40Can you believe that?
01:42And here she is.
01:43That's very nice.
01:44We have a few of them.
01:46But she was never a Democrat.
01:48She was, at heart, she was a Republican.
01:51I watched her and was a 2020 Democrat candidate for President of the United States.
01:58It's not easy, right?
02:00It's not so easy.
02:02People think it's easy.
02:03It's not easy.
02:04Throughout her service, Tulsi has always distinguished herself as a leader of the highest caliber.
02:09She's earned the respect and admiration and love of Americans on both sides of the aisle
02:14as her profound commitment to the values that keep us free.
02:18And she really does have those values as much as anybody.
02:23In recent years, Tulsi has been a courageous and often lonely voice speaking out against
02:27radical left's attacks on free speech and the dangers of an unelected deep state.
02:34And I have to say, she was very, very strong for me when I was going through all of the
02:38fake news and all of the problems that we had with some very sick people.
02:43She was always out there before I really knew her as well.
02:45She was out there defending me.
02:48So I appreciated that, Tulsi.
02:50But the threat of a warmongering military industrial complex and the weaponization of
02:55government and governmental people that go out and persecute, they like to persecute
03:00people that are innocent.
03:02Tulsi herself became a target of that weaponization when she was outrageously placed on a suspected
03:08terrorist watch list by the Biden regime.
03:10It was a very evil regime after criticizing their appalling abuses of power.
03:17And I'm confident that as director of the National Intelligence, Tulsi will work tirelessly
03:21to keep America safe.
03:24And she's been doing that her entire career.
03:26I think it's going to be a very natural day for you when you walk in.
03:29It's just have to keep the way you are.
03:31Just stay the way you are.
03:33She'll be clear eyed and she'll be focused on the threat of radical Islamic terrorism
03:38and lots of other threats to threats from within and give no quarter to America's foreign
03:44enemies.
03:45At the same time, I'm entrusting Tulsi with the responsibility of overseeing urgently
03:50needed reforms to the U.S. intelligence community to protect the rights and the civil liberties
03:56of all Americans.
03:58She'll provide the American people with transparency, eliminate corruption, shrink the bloated bureaucracy
04:04and restore honesty, integrity and trust to the national security state.
04:11There's only one thing I can say that there's nobody like her for this job.
04:16This was a very easy one for me.
04:18She was recommended by some of the top people in that world.
04:22It's a little world, you know, it's a little smart world.
04:26It sometimes can be an evil world when the wrong people are there.
04:30But we have the right one.
04:31She's said so many great recommendations.
04:34I would say Pam was right up there with her.
04:36Pam Bondi.
04:37She had a lot of rep.
04:38A lot.
04:39She I didn't need.
04:40I know her a little bit better.
04:41And you're doing a fantastic job after about three or four days, right?
04:45You've had you've had a lot of experience, but you've never seen anything like this,
04:49Pam.
04:50But you're going to do fantastic as the attorney general.
04:53Fantastic.
04:54So thank you.
04:55And congratulations.
04:56We did this with Pam a few days ago, and this is again my honor.
04:59So congratulations to Tulsi.
05:02And I think Pam is going to administer the oath.
05:06And when she does that, I'll sign your new certificate.
05:10Good.
05:12Thank you very much, everybody.
05:13Please place your left hand on the Constitution and raise your right hand and repeat after
05:26me.
05:27I do solemnly swear I, Tulsi Gabbard, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution
05:36of the United States, that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United
05:40States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, against all enemies, foreign and domestic,
05:47and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and that I will bear true faith
05:53and allegiance to the same, that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation
06:03or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the
06:12office on which I am about to enter.
06:19So help me God.
06:22Congratulations.
06:24Congratulations.
06:26Congratulations.
06:30That's great.
06:34Congratulations.
06:36It's a big deal.
06:40How is the Oval Office looking?
06:42A little different look, right?
06:44It's the Oval Office.
06:46Mm hmm.
06:48Okay, we'll get a good one here.
06:55Okay, not bad.
06:59Ready?
07:00I'll stand up here.
07:04I think we'll do it right here.
07:13Okay, I'm sure there are no questions.
07:22You know what, I'd let Tulsi say a few words first, then we could answer a couple of questions.
07:32Okay?
07:33Good.
07:34Mr. President, first and foremost, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my
07:49heart for the trust that you have placed in me to fulfill this critical position as Director
07:55of National Intelligence at any time, but specifically during this time.
08:01Unfortunately, the American people have very little trust in the intelligence community,
08:07largely because they've seen the weaponization and politicization of an entity that is supposed
08:14to be purely focused on ensuring our national security.
08:18So, I look forward to being able to help fulfill that mandate that the American people delivered
08:25very clearly in this election to refocus our intelligence community by empowering the great
08:31patriots who have chosen to serve our country in this way and focus on ensuring the safety,
08:36security, and freedom of the American people.
08:39As you've said, Mr. President, this is what I've dedicated my life to, and it is truly
08:45humbling to be in this position, to serve in your administration, help to rebuild that
08:50trust, and ultimately to keep the American people safe.
08:54Last thing I'll mention that in your National Prayer Breakfast speech, you made a statement
09:00about your legacy of wanting to be remembered as a peacemaker.
09:03I know that I can speak for many of my fellow service members who are here today, veterans,
09:09Medal of Honor recipients, how deeply that resonates with us.
09:13For those who volunteer to put their lives on the line when duty calls, but to have a
09:19President, Commander-in-Chief who recognizes the cost of that sacrifice and ensuring that
09:25war is the last resort, not the first.
09:28So, thank you for your leadership on behalf of my friends here and all who wear the uniform.
09:34We're grateful.
