00:00US President Donald Trump has said that US and China are getting very close to a historic
00:07trade deal. He said talks between the two nations, aimed at overcoming the current slew
00:12of tariffs that both nations are putting on each other, are going very well. Talks are
00:17set to resume in Washington this week on Wednesday, where the two will be discussing how they
00:22can remove the barriers and the trade tariffs that are currently placed on imports to both
00:27In other news, local property developer EMAR has said that it recorded sales in Q1 of this
00:32year of 6 billion dirhams, a 53% increase on 2018. It also said that its international
00:39sales rose by 123%, showing signs of life in an otherwise drab property market.
00:45And finally, Pakistan has named IMF economist Reza Bakir to as head of its central bank
00:51amid sweeping changes to its economics and finance departments. Following the firing
00:56of the former governor and the head of the Federal Reserve, Bakir was appointed to a
01:00three-year term running the central bank as governor by a special assistant to Imran Khan,
01:05the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
