00:00I think Aakash mostly, like he, I needed his help because A, I was really worried about
00:09myself because I was working with him and Irfan.
00:12I was actually quite nervous because, I mean, to be sharing screen space with firstly Irfan
00:17sir is a very daunting task and I'm just happy that it was Aakash to like lead me through
00:23this.
00:24It's also, like I said, a role that I haven't played before.
00:26I had met him before so that was a little bit of a comfort zone and Irfan sir eased
00:31me into it.
00:32I start quite a few films every year so I have at least 4-5 first days each year.
00:38So I'm kind of used to the drill but for me, Irfan sir is a humongous star and when I work
00:43with, you know, senior stars or actors who I really look up to and it's not just us newcomers
00:50or like, you know, people that I've worked with before.
00:54I always, I feel like I put in the extra effort to kind of be prepared and to kind of not
00:59waste their time in any which way.
01:00You can start kind of fumbling your lines if you're just a bit star-struck, you know,
01:03you can kind of get extra conscious and if you get into that sort of conscious bout,
01:08it can go multiple takes before you can snap out of it.
01:11So I was a little aware of that happening but usually if you know your lines like the
01:14back of your hand, that helps because then you are not fumbling with lines and you can
01:18just kind of figure out your geography and stuff.
01:20But like she said, it always helps to kind of be friends with people before shoot but
01:23I think most credit goes to Irfan sir.
01:26Akash also is like just mad fun, I think you've seen our dynamic, just the way we all interact,
01:31it's like a bunch of friends hanging out.
01:33But I think thanks to Irfan sir being there, like you know, there was that certain...
01:38Gravity.
01:39Yeah, just focus and like the respect to his time, I think that was there.
01:44I think my schooling has helped, just the school that I went to, had a huge mix of kids
01:47from families that have migrated to Chennai from all over the country.
01:51There are certain things, like I keep saying, accents or something, only everybody else
01:55hears, people speaking it don't exactly hear that.
01:57I couldn't hear certain things, so if somebody pointed something out to me, I'm like, oh,
02:01okay, so then can you just do that, can you just keep keeping an ear out for the stuff
02:06that I'm saying wrong and then I'll correct it.
02:09And I obviously gave Irfan sir a heads up and said, this is my issue, so if they point
02:14it out, we might have to go for a retake.
02:15I think he was just amused by me and my worries about the language.
02:19I always approach work thinking that the script is about 75% of what it should be.
02:24I mean like, once they own the characters, automatically things will change.
02:28They'll get into the skin of the characters and start bringing a bit of themselves to it.
02:32So I'm very happy to improvise.
02:34I think what happened is that, so Irfan sir comes and improvises off the bat, which is
02:40because of, you know, he's done his own work and quite honestly, I mean, like he actually
02:44worked out a dialect and you know, for his character, which is kind of goes back to his
02:49days where he grew up in Tonk, in Rajasthan.
02:51So he actually speaks like that.
02:52He doesn't say van, he says ven.
02:54So I mean, and he was very consistent about that, like he would switch on and be that
02:57person.
02:58So he had done that.
02:59And now that he had done that, he was actually playing with it.
03:02I think, Dulkar, because of, you know, stepping into the Hindi territory and Mithila because
03:07I mean, stepping in front of stalwarts, so to speak, took like a few days to know that
03:14it was okay to, you know, or feel comfortable enough to kind of, you know, break out and
03:19start doing their own stuff.
03:20While I'd say that maybe Irfan did the maximum, but I think that both of them have done some
03:25fabulous additions of their own, which stayed in the cut and perhaps get better reactions
03:30than what was written.
03:32So I mean, there's little things that they brought up their own characters once they
03:35kind of eased up.
03:36And I, because of my background in theatre, prefer that I like that they kind of come
03:41and bring something to the table.
03:43And all of them did.
03:44So I'm very happy.
03:45I like that.
03:46It's really tricky.
03:47I mean, how do you promote?
03:48Promotions have to be fairly enthusiastic, excited, energetic exchanges with the media.
03:54So initially, we were even, including Ronnie, I mean, that's one of the most amazing things
03:58about the producer that he is, even though he felt it might, I mean, not he felt, even
04:04though it could maybe harm his film, he was like, you know, we have to really be sensitive
04:06to this.
04:07Even now, I don't even think he wants to have a gala premiere.
04:10And that's the most wonderful thing about him, you know, and, but you can't also kind
04:13of abandon the film, and also out of the love and respect for his work, and just how amazing
04:19he's in the film, I'm shocked that once you watch the film, I'm sure like all the viewers
04:23are going to just travel with him from start to finish.
04:26And he's really the pulse and the heartbeat of the film.
04:29His approval and go ahead was very important to us and we got that.
04:32Beyond that, I think it's not fair to ask for anything.
04:35He's doing his little bit, he keeps, you know, tweeting stuff and he's doing that.
04:39I've noticed that, I've been seeing his Twitter feed.
04:41Yeah, he tweeted like lyrics from the film and all of that, and he was very happy and
04:44I had a good 15 minute chat with him after he saw it.
04:47For me, what really helps to know is that he's happy with the film and that, so we are
04:52kind of taking that legacy forward right now.
04:54And like Dulkar said, I think for all the people who are out there, including us who
04:58are missing him, I think this film shows him in just such a wonderful light.
05:03I mean, I think he's done such a great job in it.
05:05You see him across the gamut of all the comedy that the people love and all the emotional
05:09gravity that he brings to the road.
05:11I think it's kind of complete and I think it'll just help, you know, tied over till
05:15he's back in fighting form.
