00:00The Armed Forces of the Philippines still plans to buy a submarine as part of the modernization of the use of heavy weapons.

00:09The Philippine Coast Guard continues to guard the ships of China that are in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines.

00:16Here is the report.

00:19In the face of the continuous improvement of the defense of the country is the modernization of the use of heavy weapons.

00:26According to AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Browner Jr.,

00:30the purchase of a submarine under the AFP Modernization Program Horizon 3 is still on the agenda.

00:57Last year, the fund for the AFP Modernization Program increased by 29%,

01:03where the government allocated P35 billion in 2025.

01:09General Browner admitted that this is not enough,

01:12especially since there are also multi-year contracts being paid for the first purchased equipment.

01:18But he is working on a way to have additional funds with the help of local and foreign financing.

01:26We have had some offers already, so we are studying its legality.

01:33But with all the help that can be given to the AFP, the Philippine Coast Guard,

01:41and other government agencies that are involved in securing our territory and our sovereign rights,

01:49these are all welcome to us.

01:52This year, the delivery of two new corvettes from South Korea is expected,

01:57including the BRP Miguel Malbar, which will arrive in March.

02:01There are also new landing dock ships and six offshore patrol vessels.

02:06Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard continues to face the Chinese ships

02:11that are in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines,

02:14including the Chinese Research Vessel Lanhai 101,

02:18which was first detected inside the country's archipelagic waters

02:22and was last seen in the Bambuyan Islands back to China.

02:26Although the Research Vessel said that its passage was due to the poor condition of the sea,

02:33in the northern part of Palawan, the PCG noticed something strange in its deployment,

02:39where it used an automatic identification system or transponder.

02:44It keeps on entering the contiguous zone.

02:49It maintains 23, 24, 25 nautical miles off the coast of our coastline.

02:58Although BRP Cabra keeps on pushing her further away from our contiguous zone,

03:06and yet it still insists on entering.

03:09BRP Cabra and China Coast Guard 3304 are now being watched

03:14as they approach 43 nautical miles from Pangasinan.

03:18In Bajo de Masinloc, four ships and China Coast Guard are remaining,

03:22and the latest to arrive here is CCG 5303, while the Monster Ship is still there.

03:29Despite this, the PCG assured that the country has sufficient capabilities

03:33to monitor if there is a tanker reclamation in Scarborough Shoal,

03:37which is one of the government's so-called redlines.

03:40That is the priority of our aircraft and also the intelligence gathering of our Philippine Coast Guard

03:50to make sure that the Chinese government are not carrying out illegal reclamation in Bajo de Masinloc.

03:57So far, we can say that the Chinese government are not doing reclamation in Bajo de Masinloc.
