00:00Good day, welcome to the Gulf News Update for Tuesday, June the 12th.
00:07Here are the top stories at this hour.
00:10Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un hailed their historic summit today as a breakthrough in
00:16relations between Cold War foes.
00:19But the agreement they produced was short on details about the key issue of Pyongyang's
00:25nuclear weapons.
00:26The extraordinary encounter saw the leader of the world's most powerful democracy shake
00:32hands with the third-generation scion of a ruling dynasty.
00:37Kim agreed to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, a stock phrase that
00:42fell short of long-standing US demands.
00:46A Filipino family's harrowing experience after overstaying in the UAE for six years is finally
00:53over.
00:54And they have one advice for people going through the same situation, never resort to

01:00Housewife Ann K.M., her daughter Seven, and two sons, aged five and two, boarded a plane
01:06to the Philippines on Sunday afternoon.
01:09A call to boycott Atul Kocha's restaurants gathered momentum on social media following
01:15a controversial tweet by the Michelin-starred chef.
01:19Producers accused Kocha of bigotry and Islamophobia for his outrageous tweet in which he claimed
01:25Hindus had been terrorized by Islam for centuries.
01:28Kocha, who operates the Rang Mahal restaurant in Dubai's JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, deleted
01:35the tweet soon after but failed to pacify social media outrage.
01:40The hotel said in a statement it did not share the same views as the chef and nor was it
01:46a representation of the culture of diversity at the hotel.
01:51And finally, the weather.
01:52Today's high across the UAE will be 39 degrees Celsius, dropping to 31 degrees at night.
01:57That's all for now.
