00:00The Louvre Abu Dhabi has announced it will open its doors to the public on November 11th,
00:092017.
00:10The Louvre Abu Dhabi, an artistic masterpiece of architecture in its own right, is a universal
00:14museum that focuses on shared human stories across civilizations and cultures and is the
00:19first museum of its kind in the Arab world, born of an intergovernmental agreement between
00:23the governments of Abu Dhabi and France in 2007.
00:26The partnership we have with the Louvre Paris and the partnership we have with the other
00:30French museums has created this idea, this idea of a universal museum, an idea that is
00:37focused on connectivity.
00:38And today we come here together to celebrate art and its aspirational properties.
00:46Welcoming you today is an honor.
00:49This milestone fills my heart with pride and emotion.
00:53This will be remembered for a generation.
00:56The agreement includes the loan of the name Louvre for a period of 30 years and six months,
01:01artwork from French institutions for 10 years on a decreasing basis as the permanent collection
01:06grows, and the programming of temporary exhibitions for 15 years.

01:23It's a very emotional moment and you are the first witnesses of the birth of a meeting
01:33point, a meeting point for different cultures as a scale of the world, a meeting point of
01:42the main actors, cultural actors of the world.
01:46Every people will come here for cultural reasons to see the meetings between the different
01:52cultures at the different epochs.
01:56In the galleries, visitors will be treated to important artworks on loan from 13 leading
02:00museums in France, including the likes of Leonardo da Vinci's La Belle Ferronnière
02:05and Vincent van Gogh's self-portrait.
02:08Also on display are a myriad of statues, busts, ancient artifacts from long-dead civilizations
02:14and many other wonders.
02:16Multiple visits to the site will likely be needed to fully appreciate the diverse and
02:19fascinating collection of historical wonders on display.
02:22Tickets for the museum will cost 60 dirhams for general admission and 30 dirhams for ages
02:27between 13 and 22 as well as UAE-educated professionals.
02:31Free entry will apply to members of the museum's loyalty program, children under 13 years,
02:36ICOM or ICOMOS members, journalists and visitors with special needs as well as their companion.
