00:00The reason I chose to do CrossFit was to actually improve my fitness and that was
00:11in the time that I started doing, I started back up doing track and field so
00:16I was running at 800 meters, 400 meter hurdles and I just kind of felt like my
00:21running training was just missing something. To start off with it actually
00:25wasn't really for me but then I went back about two months later and I
00:30realized that it was something that I really wanted to kind of force myself
00:34into because I knew that it was going to improve my fitness and also not only my
00:39fitness but my speed and my power for hurdles. As I got more and more addicted
00:45to CrossFit I started realizing just how friendly the people were like the
00:50coaches that was so encouraging and the people that actually went they were
00:54very like-minded people all they wanted to do was just work out improve their
00:58fitness that community was what actually made me I really enjoy my my experience
01:04through CrossFit and at the time it wasn't to compete at all it just was
01:08simply to feel fit and feel satisfied within myself and then from there I
01:14started realizing that I needed to prove my my weightlifting and I needed to just
01:19improve my gymnastics skills so the variety it was actually so entertaining
01:25because there was always something that I needed to improve on so I really
01:28enjoyed the challenges that CrossFit provided me. Basically I try not to
01:32develop anything that I need to do before competition only because I feel
01:37like if there is an instance where I can't perform a certain routine before
01:43competition then it's going to mentally be playing in my head and I'm going to
01:47be constantly thinking when I get out on the floor oh my god I haven't done
01:51that I'm going to lose and there's going to be negativity that's going to be
01:54brought into my mind so I try and make sure that I've freed up my my mind and
02:00all I think about is what I need to do. I think that a lot of people are actually
02:04quite intimidated by CrossFit and I can totally understand that because when I
02:10first started I was very intimidated by it. When I first started CrossFit I never
02:14wanted to weight do weightlifting I didn't want to lift weights I didn't
02:18want to put on size because I don't want to be a heavy runner I wanted to be
02:22light. The beauty for me and I can vouch for a lot of CrossFit gyms around the
02:27world a lot of coaches will never make you lift weights they will always
02:32encourage you to try and be fitter and they always try and encourage you to
02:36improve your your fitness and your health and well-being however they will
02:40never make you do something that you don't want to do so if your goal isn't
02:44to lift weights or it isn't to build a lot of strength that's fine and that's
02:49the beauty of CrossFit you can change the workout suiting to what you want to
02:53do and you also can change it to depending on your fitness level as well
02:59and that's that's such an amazing opportunity for anyone that wants to get
03:04fit because it provides so much variety so you're never going to get bored. The
03:09title fittest woman on earth is something that I hold very dear to my
03:13heart it's something that I've trained for for a very long time I've put a lot
03:19of time and energy into it but that's not just me it's also I'm talking about
03:23my husband who is actually my coach Shane he has also sacrificed his whole
03:29life he actually left his job in order to be my coach 100% of the time and then
03:34also the people that are surrounding me so my friends and my family that are
03:38constantly supporting me and all that they sacrificed for me that title just
03:43goes to show that everything that we have done together as a team in order to
03:48achieve the fittest woman on earth it's all been well worth it and it's
03:53something that's very satisfying you know I feel like I can go into the gym
03:58knowing that I no one can ever take that title away from me and I will always be
04:05the 2017 fittest woman on earth. Leading into the games it's a very full on
04:10schedule I train roughly around about six to eight hours a day and that is
04:16consists of outside of the gym so swimming running outside on the trail
04:21even going on long like in long mountain walks and also going on the bike so
04:29there's a variety of that then I also have to focus on my recovery because I'm
04:33training so much I need to make sure that I'm stretching and making sure that
04:38my body is on point so I'm always constantly doing a lot of recovery and
04:41then I will be at the gym and doing a lot of strength training gymnastics
04:47training and and that's developing my strength and also my skill through all
04:52those movements and then I'm building my fitness through CrossFit workout we
04:57need to make sure that we're covering absolutely everything in in every
05:01fitness domain so that I'm prepared for whenever we get thrown. Before my rest
05:05day generally it's actually like doing a lot of the housework that I haven't done
05:10for the week or I might go to the gym and do a little bit of coaching because
05:14you know I'd be giving my my friends more of a just a rest because they've
05:21been doing a lot more coaching than I have been throughout the week. Hang out
05:24with my dogs and you know maybe bath them take them for a walk and then I'll
05:29definitely be laying in front of the TV and doing some stretching and a lot of
05:32my rest day would be stretching or going in the sauna and just kind of chilling
05:37out that way. For everyone that's in the UAE I definitely think that you know
05:42making sure that you are enjoying your journey making sure that you are going
05:48to the gym and doing a lot of quality training and making sure that there's a
05:53lot more quality than there is quantity and I think that you know never giving
05:58up. We have such a beautiful environment over here and it's such an incredible
06:04place, incredible people and you know you really have quite the support network
06:11over here so you know no matter what you want to achieve just go out there and
06:15give it a go.
