00:00Good day. Welcome to the Gulf News update for Tuesday, September 19. Here are the top
00:07stories at this hour. Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi said she does not fear global
00:12scrutiny over the Rohingya crisis, pledging to hold rights violators to account and to
00:18resettle some of the 410,000 Muslims who have fled army operations in her country. But she
00:24offered no concrete solutions to stop what the UN calls ethnic cleansing. Amnesty International
00:30said the Nobel Peace Prize winner was burying her head in the sand by ignoring army abuses.
00:36Communal violence has torn through Rakhine states since alleged Rohingya militants staged
00:41deadly attacks on police posts on August 25. Hundreds have been killed and hundreds of
00:46thousands of Muslim Rohingya driven out of mainly Buddhist Myanmar into Bangladesh. Britain's
00:52World No. 3 Andy Murray has stressed the importance of gender equality in tennis, saying the work
00:58ethic required to succeed is the same for both men and women. Murray, who is seen as
01:04a voice of women's equality within the game for his previous views, was coached by former
01:09Frenchwoman Amélie Morisot for two years. People often underestimate the amount of work
01:15that it takes to become a top tennis player, Murray was quoted in BBC magazine, and that
01:21work ethic is the same whether you are a man or a woman.
01:25Angelina Jolie's first They Killed My Father has been named Cambodia's foreign language
01:30submission to the Academy Awards. The Cambodia Oscar Selection Committee announced the choice
01:36calling Jolie's Cambodian genocide drama cathartic and hailing it for bringing back memories
01:41often best forgotten. Jolie directed the adaptation of Leung Aung's memoir about her childhood
01:47during the Khmer Rouge's bloody reign. She shot it in Cambodia with a local cast.
01:53And finally the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 42 degrees Celsius, dropping
01:58to 28 degrees at night. That's all for now. Thanks for watching. And as always, you can
