00:00The World's Firefighter Challenge, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center,
00:09in collaboration with UAE-based 9-11 Challenge, wrapped up its three-day competition on the
00:1417th of March, and the action was intense.
00:17Over 40 teams from all around the world came to challenge their skills, including the UAE
00:22national team as well as civil defense members from around the country.
00:25Challengers test their mettle in six key tasks designed to push the limits of the firefighter's
00:29strength and stamina.
00:31First is the stair climb, where the competitor climbs a six-story tower while carrying a
00:3520-kilogram high-rise pack of hose.
00:37Then it's on to hose hoisting, which sees the competitor hoist a 20-kilogram roll of
00:41hose from the bottom to the top of the tower, followed by a full-on sprint back down to
00:45the bottom, where the baton is handed off to their colleague, who immediately goes on
00:49to forcible entry simulator, where the competitor mimics forcible entry by moving a hydraulic
00:54beam with a shot mallet.
00:55From here, the baton is passed off for the running section, where the competitor moves
00:59as fast as possible, shouldering a fire hydrant's nozzle end for a distance of 43 meters.
01:04Then it's back down the course for the hose advancing segment, where the firefighter shoulders
01:09and drags the nozzle end, advances 23 meters, and hits the designated target with a stream
01:13of water.
01:14And last but not least, it's the victim rescue, during which the competitor simulates rescuing
01:19an unconscious person by dragging an 80-kilogram Rescue Randy mannequin over a distance of
01:2330 meters.
01:24I like the area, I like the challenge, next time I hope we win.
01:30We're eight-time Canadian champions, five-time world champions, and yeah, we won this last
01:36time, so yeah, we've done a few, and this one is, the tower is probably one of the hardest
01:40ones we've ever done.
