00:00Advanced motorbikes, driving abilities, and shooting skills are what set the 18 female
00:14officers of the VIP Protection Unit of the Department of Detective Security and Emergency
00:19of Dubai Police apart from their female peers.
00:22The unit was first established in 2005 and is currently comprised of 28 members, of which
00:2718 are female.
00:29Their job is to protect and secure any VIP visitors to Dubai, whether male or female.
00:33I used to be a flight attendant in an Emirati airline, and my job was to wear a uniform.
00:39I used to watch the police at the airport, and I liked to be a flight attendant at the airport.
00:43When I first started the interview with the police, they saw me and asked if I could ride a bike.
00:49I said yes, I'm used to it, it's a new thing for me.
00:52In the beginning of the unit, the women were trained to provide personal security to the VIPs.
00:57But later over the years, the unit evolved to add motorcycle skills as well as more advanced
01:01training modules.
01:07The unit is also highly trained in the use of normal police vehicles and is taught to
01:11act as a well-oiled cohesive team when on a mission to extract and protect VIPs from
01:15dangerous situations.
01:17I felt a movement, something I had never heard or seen before.
01:23I chose to ride a bike because I chose this people because of the bikes.
01:32Dubai police have made a big investment in the VIP protection unit, and the members of
01:36the team have worked really hard honing their skills, ensuring that the investment pays
01:40big dividends in safety and security for the multitude of VIP residents and visitors in Dubai.
01:46We were doing a show at school, we were sitting here, and people could hear us, so we were
01:52walking on the street, the first round, the second round we faced a danger, there was
01:58a throw, a real danger, so my role was to get out of the back of the VIP's car, do a
02:04full turn, to cover the VIP's car.
02:07When we got back, she did another two Gs, and I did another two Gs, and she did another
02:14two Gs, and I did a full turn, and we got out of the car.
02:31The VIPs in Dubai are undoubtedly much safer with this impressive team of talented female
02:35officers watching their backs.
