00:00It's very easy to get here. It's only about 30 to 40 minutes on the highway, and you're
00:13then in a totally different part of the UAE. And if you want to go shopping at the mall,
00:18you still can do so and come back relatively conveniently.
00:25We believe the feature that Banyan Tree stands for, which is 100% private pools, a really
00:31award-winning, globally known spa, plus the fact that we're the only desert resort we
00:38know of which has got a beach resort, a golf course, a desert resort, and soon to be a
00:45mountain resort. So if you come here from Europe and you want to spend 10 days, you
00:51might actually get a little bit bored with 10 days in the desert.
00:54We would arrange for you so that the 10 days you spend would be enjoying the very stark,
01:00austere beauty of the mountains around here near Oman. It's not easy to be 100% carbon
01:07neutral in a relatively harsh physical environment as this.
01:12We're doing a lot of conservation work. There's a large nature reserve around us, which the
01:18Crown Prince has actually decided to even expand further. We're stocking it with wildlife.
01:23We have our own conservation and recreation department. So we really intend this to be
01:29not just a place for people to come and sit under the sun. It's a place for them to really
01:33understand what a desert culture and a desert environment is like. It's a state-of-the-art
01:40falconry center. It's going to be very interesting because the whole, I guess, the conservation
01:46aspect of falconry also in terms of what the birds can do and so on and so forth, we will
01:50educate our guests with that.
01:52We're going to present the first ever official falconry courses in the UAE, or in the Middle
01:57East for that matter, right here on Banyan Tree Al Wadi. A cheetah at full speed runs
02:02100 meters in three seconds. The peregrine falcon, when it dies, covers 100 meters in
02:08one second. It's a bit like little pilots flying their own aeroplanes. So they go through
02:13a very definite pre-flight routine. Usually, they drop some baggage, which means she will
02:21go to the toilet for us, hopefully. Good girl. And then possibly she will shake her feathers.
02:27We call it the bird rouses. Nice rouse and a shake. Good girl. And she's clear for take-off.
