00:00We're getting a lot of close shaves, a lot of dangerous situations where two cars meet,
00:05obviously they can't be too close to each other, so they're moving out to the sides
00:10of the road where the pedestrians are.
00:11The layout of the bridge, it's been like that for many, many years now.
00:15It's very narrow as you enter, and it bends, an S-bend, and it's basically a chicane as
00:21you go in.
00:22So your view as a driver is limited, so you don't see things until the last second, and
00:27if a pedestrian is there, then it obviously creates a danger to the pedestrians, but also
00:32to the drivers as well.
00:34We have a very, very narrow stretch of road with no footpath on a very steep hill, which
00:41is causing real problems for not only local residents who want to get into the village,
00:49also people who are travelling through as well to further destinations.
00:54It really is a big matter of concern.
00:57It's not safe for pedestrians, it's not safe for cyclists, it's not really safe either
01:01for the motorists to be faced with this sort of situation.
01:05We have now, my colleague Mark and I, we've got the local MP on board with this.
01:10We're talking to chairs of the right committees at the council, and we're confident that we
01:15can actually push for, if nothing more than a short-term solution to tackle the immediate
01:21safety issues, and then looking as well at the longer-term issues of whether or not this
01:26bridge is fit for purpose, and how we can look at really improving it in the future
01:31as well.
01:32So yeah, we're on the side of the residents, we want to do our best for them, and we really
01:37feel that this is an issue that needs priority attention.
