00:0011th January, 1982, until that day, there was nothing like the Bombay Police and Underworld
00:18which people remember.
00:19I had the itch to change history.
00:21I had the itch to change history.
00:22My name is Mani Asurved.
00:23The man whom I am playing in the film, the gentleman, Ishaq Bhagwan, he is still alive,
00:42who was responsible for the first encounter, the first actual encounter which took place
00:49in Bombay and he is still alive, so I have met him also personally with his family and
00:54also keeping all these things in the perspective, it became very exciting for me to do this
01:00role and that's what I am doing in this film.
01:03In terms of physicality, Mani Asurved was a bodybuilder, he was a tough guy, so cops
01:09were wary of getting within an arm's length of him because he would probably suffocate
01:13them to death.
01:14The script was very exciting, the character was very exciting, so I decided to do it.
01:19The name of the character is Zubair, he is somebody who is very intelligent, very flamboyant.
01:24Well, obviously the film is absolutely amazing.
01:27When Balaji called me and asked me to do the song, obviously I said yes.
01:31And to put a cherry on my sundae, they said that they wanted me to actually have a very
01:38small part but a part in the film as well.
01:41When you see these guys on screen, you will see them in a whole new light and I am really
01:45really excited for what they are bringing to you, genuinely.
01:48I have just done a song but they have acted in the film and they are brilliant.
01:52All of them, I am just saying.
01:54We are not glorifying gangsters and we have been very clear about it.
01:57So we are showing the characters as they are.
02:00I think the only two characters that are pretty much in sync with the book are my character
02:06and Dushyant's character.
02:08If I may say so, the other characters are fictitious.
02:10I am just doing the role of this character which I found very interesting.
02:16And doing to my best of my ability.
02:18The only USP of the film in it, more ways than one, is we have seen a lot of gangster
02:24films but we have always wondered where Encounter Killing started from.
02:27And this film is going to throw a lot of light on that.
02:29Maniha Surve was the first recorded gangster to be killed in an encounter on the 11th of
02:35January, 1982 by this gentleman.
02:38So that's what we have shown.
02:40I think when you are in entertainment, you don't, you know, like John said, you kind
02:44of don't have a binge day.
02:45But I don't necessarily always restrict myself but I do spend a lot of time at the gym.
02:51I do spend a lot of time, you know, watching what I eat.
02:54But if I really want a piece of cake, I eat the piece of cake.
02:58I am a girl.
02:59I am also a big foodie.
03:00I am Punjabi.
03:01I love my food.
03:02You have to be particular.
03:03Particular and yes.
03:04Before Aala Re Aala, I was particular.
03:06Especially because nobody knows that I actually have a slip disc and a tear in my back right
03:11now while I was shooting the song.
03:13And so my entire workout regime had to change and I had like 10 days to get into shape for
03:17this.
03:18So, yeah, it was challenging but it was great.
