00:00The authorities continue to fight against those who were affected.
00:04In the latest data, more than 400 families were affected in Mimaropa.
00:09This is what Rod Lagusan of PTT Manila reported.
00:14The rescue operation of the authorities continues in a van that was hit by a flood in Palawan in August.
00:21According to the Office of the Civil Defense, three people are still being verified to be dead, while two are still missing.
00:27Apparently, there was a van that still tried to traverse the flooded area.
00:33Unfortunately, yesterday, the flooding was still strong in August.
00:38According to the OCD, 427 families or 1,906 individuals were affected by the shearline in Mimaropa,
00:47while more than 300 families are still staying in evacuation centers.
00:52The OCD continues to coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to help those affected.
00:59So while the rain stops, we are taking advantage of that.
01:04We're deploying our rescue vehicles and equipment, that includes our rubber boats,
01:10as well as our lifted vehicles, to conduct rescue operations.
01:15The rainfall in Palawan reached 352 mm, the highest since 1975,
01:21away from the average rainfall of only 30 mm.
01:25As a result, the rescue operation continues for residents affected by the flood.
01:29Residents with medical conditions, such as bedridden, are also challenged to evacuate.
01:34According to the OCD, the water level in the flooded areas is already dropping.
01:38Part of the hope is that the weather in Mindoro and Palawan will improve
01:43because of the effect of the shearline.
01:46Maybe it's a big factor.
01:49Aside from the shearline that is affecting Palawan and Mindoro,
01:53there are also cloud clusters west of the Philippine area of responsibility.
01:59And somehow, it also has an effect on Palawan.
02:03It will be moved away from the country, so it won't be affected anymore.
02:07The presence of cloud clusters is affected by the frequent presence of shearline.
02:12According to the description of our climatologist,
02:15at first, it was a cloud-like condition from the last quarter of last year.
02:22But this year, from January to March, we received an advisory.
02:28The possibility of experiencing a shearline shower is not out of the question.
02:33Shearline is a part of Quezon, Aurora, Isabela, Camarines Norte,
02:37and other parts of Bicol and Eastern Visayas.
02:41From PTV Manila, Rod Laguzad, Balitang Pampansa.
