Jackky Bhagnani on Rangrezz

Indian film actor Jackky Bhagnani explains his role in the movie Rangrezz and talks about doing a Gangnam style video -- the Mumbai way.

00:00In one line, if I have to explain this film, is generally you've seen films where love

00:08story or problems in a love story, pre-marriage, post-marriage, or you've seen films on friendship.

00:15This is a film which is an amalgamation of everything.

00:19It's a story about a guy called Rishi Deshpande, what all he does for his friends, how he helps

00:24a friend to culminate his love story.

00:27I'm not the love doctor.

00:28I'm basically a guy who can do anything for friends.

00:31Rangrej means someone who plays with color.

00:34I'm very colorful and happy-go-lucky, fills color in people's lives.

00:38I put my friends and my family and my girlfriend and everyone else before me than myself.

00:43In this film, there was a little bit of prepping because it's nothing close to what I am, neither

00:47even close to, you know, what I know of or friends or, you know, relatives.

00:53So it was difficult.

00:54It's lower middle class Maharashtrian family.

00:56And you know what happens is, you know, as soon as you start going down in terms of,

01:01you know, tiers of society, you know, people are more real.

01:04You know, friendship is very strong.

01:06Love is very strong.

01:08You know, people do stuff for other people.

01:10They are not very selfish.

01:11They are unaware of manipulations.

01:13Sophistication is not there too much.

01:15Carefree.

01:16They are not apologetic in a good way.

01:17I feel people want to see a film now because so much is available.

01:21And the top guys who've been around for 20 years are doing the typical stuff anyways.

01:25Why will you want to spend money and see the typical stuff with the new guys?

01:29Gangnam Style being the Gangnam Style worldwide and we got the rights officially from America

01:35and Universal in India.

01:37We tried to alter it.

01:38We realized it's not a good idea because, you know, the world is too stuck on to the

01:43original.

01:44So what we've done is, we've done something interesting.

01:46We did a lot of research.

01:47What is Gangnam Style?

01:48Gangnam Style is basically, Gangnam Style is a style in South Korea.

01:53It's an area.

01:54And Opa means Big Brother.

01:56So basically Big Brother, look at my Gangnam Style.

01:58So what we've done is, we've just translated that in our heads and we made it Opa Mumbaiya

02:03Style.
