The National Treasury Employees Union filed two lawsuits Sunday against Consumer Financial Protection Bureau acting director Russell Vought after he ordered a halt to much of the agency’s activities. The lawsuits block Vought’s directives and prevent the Department of Government Efficiency from accessing CFPB employee information. Vought instructed staff to cease investigations, supervision, and stakeholder engagement while pausing the agency’s funding request to the Federal Reserve. Employees were told the Washington headquarters would be closed this week.
