Where does Mahomes currently rank as an all-time QB? Better than Peyton? #NFL Where will Mahomes rank when his career is over?
Transcript
00:00Wiggy, you said earlier he's, uh, he's the second best in your mind to ever do it.
00:06He's not the best to ever do it.
00:08Uh, he has a chance obviously to be the best to ever do it, but this is a little bit of
00:13a stumbling block.
00:14Yeah, this is, we've, we've thrown cold water on that.
00:16You still give him credit.
00:17What?
00:18Seven years in a row, he's either been in a super bowl or an AFC championship, um, three
00:24super five super bowl appearances, three championships, but yeah, it's, it's still like, all right,
00:29now with my homes, I think we're going to go, he'll be 30 and now we're going to go
00:3530 to 35.
00:37What's his career look like then?
00:38And then, you know, we'll have this conversation in about another five years on whether or
00:44not where he is dependent on Brady.
00:46Cause remember Brady went 10 years between super bowls, but Brady also wanted to play
00:52till he was, you know, mid forties does my homes have that same type of, I mean, desire.
01:00Yeah.
01:01If you look at the AFC and what they did this year, they, it's not like they ran through
01:07the schedule.
01:08I mean, they won a lot of games by, by a score.
01:13So they're going to only have one loss.
01:15I mean, one real loss, the other one, I know they ended up 15 and two, but that loss was
01:21when no one was playing, it was all their backup.
01:23So I know that they played close games, but to basically almost go undefeated, well, they're
01:30going to have to, they've got to address the O line.
01:34Yes.
01:36Travis Kelsey is, I, you know, but whatever he is going to be, I guess he is going to,
01:41at least he said media night that he has more gas in the, in the tank.
01:46And so he's, he, he will probably be back, but he's not anything like he was.
01:53I wouldn't talk about the season.
01:55You're right.
01:56They didn't try and win their final game, but how many games blocked field goal wild
02:01plays?
02:02Like it wasn't like they dominated.
02:03They won how many 12 one score games.
02:06Yeah.
02:07But we can't, we can't see, we can't say that.
02:09And then when Mayo goes, well, we were only, we were in seven, one score games.
02:14We poo poo that, you know, it's, if you're in close games and you win, you still win.
02:19You still went a season where you, I know you lost two games, but realistically only
02:27lost one game.
02:28And let's, let's ask this question about Kansas city.
02:31You can, cause it wasn't dominant.
02:32Like the Oh seven Patriots blue doors, like that was a team that was dominant.
02:36I wouldn't say this chiefs team in the regular season was dominant.
02:39Oh, that's what I was suggesting.
02:41They weren't dominant.
02:42They were not, they barely beat mediocre teams over and over again.
02:47So, so a 15 and two season is not dominant.
02:53Yes.
02:54It was an anomaly at 15 and one season.
02:57You have, we'll, we'll throw the other one, even 15 and two or three losses now.
03:01Well, yeah, but we're talking about during the regular season.
03:03I did not think they were a dominant regular season team this year.
03:07Maybe they didn't dominate in games, but we disagree.
03:11I mean, it's fine.
03:12I'm just saying if you go 15 and two, I think you, I think you dominated the regular season.
03:18When it comes to wins and losses, like if, if the Patriots went 15 and two, we would
03:22be like, we wouldn't be sitting here and go, well, they only won by a field goal here.
03:26They only won by seven here.
03:27That was a pretty, that'd be a pretty good season.
03:31The question is, do the Kansas city chiefs, the GM there, there's, is he willing and the
03:37ownership willing to spend money to maybe get guys to help this team and clarify, if
03:42you could, for a texter on the Subaru of new England tax line.
03:46He has passed Peyton Manning in your mind as, as number two.
03:50Yeah.
03:51I think so.
03:52He's done that.
03:53Does everybody, everybody agree with that?
03:54Yeah.
03:55Shy has a pretty good take on Manning and Mahomes.
03:57Do you want to share that?
03:58You said, yeah, I actually think Patrick Mahomes is Peyton Manning.
04:02If Peyton Manning never had to face Tom Brady, I guess just like he's wildly talented.
04:08He's really, really good.
04:09And probably the best quarterback in football outside of when, you know, Manning face Brady
04:13when Manning had Brady next to him.
04:15So he, in Mahomes his case, he is the best quarterback in football, but there's just
04:19always this, this kind of potential for crumble.
04:25Like in that Tampa super bowl in last night's game, you saw Peyton Manning do it when he
04:29didn't have to face Brady.
04:31He crumbled against the Seahawks with one of the greatest offenses the sport has ever
04:35seen on that Broncos team.
04:37Like if, if Brady's not around, Manning probably wins five super bowls, but he also probably
04:43wins three, two of which in like embarrassing fashion.
04:46So I just feel like Mahomes is Peyton Manning just without Tom Brady next to him.
04:53You kind of confused me on that one.
04:55I don't really, Mahomes is, he's thrown 45 or 46 touchdowns to like 10 interceptions
05:05in his playoffs, Peyton Manning through 40 to 25.
05:09So Mahomes, you would also agree that the NFL in the first half of the two thousands,
05:15the numbers have been inflated.
05:17Like Peyton was playing.
05:19Yeah.
05:20I completely agree with that, but I don't, I wouldn't say so if you could, if you had
05:26to, like we had this conversation, Brady Mahomes, you're taking Brady, Mahomes, Manning.
05:35I take Mahomes.
05:36I take Mahomes.
05:37Right.
05:38So I don't like, there's no way he's Manning.
05:40I don't know that I would take Mahomes like it just in a head to head Mahomes and Manning,
05:44like Peyton Manning was insanely good.
05:48Like to the point where he almost kind of like revolutionized the position in a way
05:52that exploded offenses and, and resulted in quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes even existing
05:57in the first place.
05:58Like I think that's kind of where we're at.
06:01Like that's what I'm saying.
06:02If Mahomes played his entire career with Tom Brady, I don't think Mahomes doesn't have
06:07the start to a career.
06:08When Manning, when Peyton Manning did what he did, the field was that much better simply
06:13because of Tom Brady, Mahomes has had an easier path when it comes to being the guy.
06:20And Scheim is also kind of echoing like Eric Mangini on whatever that show was with Nick
06:25Wright last week saying that Mahomes is Brady's Josh Allen, that Brady left and then he was
06:32able to win, but he wasn't able to do that when Tom was here, which I think is a fair
06:36point.
06:37This is Steve from Providence.
06:40What's up, Steve?
06:41Hey, Southern Rhode Island.
06:42I always go see you guys at the Whalers when you're down here, but why does Mahomes get
06:50such an easy pass over Montana where it took Brady to get like five or six for him to be
06:55considered better?
06:58Because people don't like Brady and the Patriots.
07:00And Scheim don't even have Montana in his top 10, so he has Hoyer ahead of Montana,
07:05but he has Peyton Manning as better than Mahomes.
07:08Do you have Terry Bradshaw in your top 10?
07:10No.
07:11No, Terry Bradshaw's like 180.
07:12Also, no disrespect to the man, but hang him up.
07:16It's time to...
07:17That award ceremony was tough.
07:19They got to give him like, you know, write him a check or give him a watch or...
07:23Can we have term limits of our broadcasters?
07:26Like it's been enough of the Terry, like it's just, there have to be people and God love
07:31him.
07:32I hope he lives to 150.
07:33Yep.
07:34Nope.
07:35Nope.
07:36Less Gronk.
07:37Hey, Gronk did his first live interview yesterday.
07:38All right.
07:39That was his first one ever.
07:40They had it as a lower third, so everybody knew.
07:45But I think when you start to look at, you know, there's a good chance that I think Patrick
07:52Mahomes gets another one.
07:53I don't know if he'll get three to catch Brady, but there's a good chance when his career
07:58is all said and done.
07:59Four and a half over under, what do you take in total Super Bowls?
08:03Four and a half.
08:04Okay.
08:05Oof.
08:06I'll go over.
08:07You got to go over because you just said you think he gets another one.
08:10Well, then he has to get two more.
08:12He has to get two more because he threw the half in there.
08:14Yeah.
08:15Right.
08:16So, but I think when it's all said and done, it's going to be Brady, Mahomes, and I still,
08:21and I would say right now it's probably, you know, my opinion, Brady and I played with
08:26Peyton Manning and I think Peyton Manning's a great quarterback, but if I had to choose
08:30between Peyton Manning and Patrick Mahomes, I would take Patrick Mahomes.
08:36Yeah.
08:37If I had to win one game, I'd take Mahomes over Manning.
08:40508 Texter takes Manning over Mahomes any day.
08:44Mahomes' greatness comes from his athleticism and that's it.
08:47That's so silly.
08:48I mean, the guy has, I mean, he might be as accurate a passer as I've ever seen.
08:52Right.
08:53I don't, I don't know.
08:54I mean, he's still like, come on.
08:55He's still a, he's still super accurate.
08:58Like, oh yeah.
08:59He's a really good quarterback.
09:00I mean, I don't think it's nearly as, uh, it's just a runaway as the, the Texter would
09:05point out.
09:06But like, I think, I think there's a discussion there.
09:08So then you have a Brady Manning Mahomes?
09:10Yeah.
09:11Currently.
09:12Where's Montana?
09:1317th?
09:14Uh.
