Should Spurs now prioritise the Europa League in a bid to win silverware this season?

00:00James, obviously we mentioned out of the Carabao Cup with a wimper, out of the FA Cup with
00:06a bit of an improvement, but they are still out of that as well. Really suffered in the
00:11league this season. How important does the Europa League now become for Spurs and Antropos
00:17de Kogliau and this side that have been desperately chasing trophies for a number of years and
00:24that drought could look to extend even further. It already has domestically this season. How
00:29important does the Europa League now become for Spurs and Spurs fans and the club's future
00:34as well?
00:35Yes, it's absolutely massive now, the Europa League. I think what we need to do really
00:39is get those 13, 14 points on the board to be absolutely mathematically safe. I know
00:45it might sound a bit dramatic, but let's get safe in the Premier League. Let's get to 40
00:49points as quickly as we possibly can. And then if we need to, we start resting players
00:53in the league and we really throw everything at the Europa League. Obviously a huge prize
00:57at the end of it, potentially, with a spot in the Champions League, the Holy Grail. So
01:02it really is everything into that now. We've put a lot into it so far and the performances
01:07have been relatively strong. Only one defeat in that competition against Galatasaray so
01:11far, safely into the round of 16, still awaiting our opponents obviously as well. But all the
01:18eggs need to go in the Europa League basket for me now. We've got to pick the league for
01:22sure, no doubt. But let's get safe. We're not going to trouble the top six unless we
01:26have a real raffle here and some of our rivals really fall off a cliff. So if we can get
01:32into the top 10, I think that would be something considering the problems we've had this year.
01:36But let's throw everything at the Europa League. It's interesting now, no midweek football
01:40for two or three weeks. I think Ange said about having a reset. I think this is the
01:45real time now we start to judge Ange Postakoglu. He's had all the excuses, the mitigating factors
01:52around the injuries. We've now got players back, we've now got full weeks of training,
01:56we can rest players, we can rotate. The players that are mentally and physically fatigued can
02:00obviously get a breather in as well. So in many ways, the season starts now and we as
02:07Spurs fans now can judge Ange Postakoglu on a level playing field, if you like, once these
02:11players are back in the XI. He said that he thinks we'll be an outstanding team. We haven't
02:17showed that previously when we've had a fit squad, it must be said. We've lost 21 out
02:20of 45 games now, which are absolutely horrific for him. A lot of people have been prepared
02:26to give him a bit of a pass. I've been a little bit more sceptical and there certainly seems
02:31to be worrying signs on the pitch, particularly, as I say, in that midfield area. We almost
02:36seem to have lost the ability to play in his philosophy. But now, full week of training,
02:43Manchester United ahead, big test. But I want to see the real Spurs turn up now and if not,
02:48I think ultimately it will cost Postakoglu his job.
