00:00After the State of the Nation address of President Bongbong Marcos in July,

00:05it is possible for the Senate to start the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

00:10Yet, Senate President Cheese Escudero said,

00:13the process cannot be hastened just to catch up with the 19th Congress.

00:18I'm Mav Gonzalez.

00:23All senators were given copies of the Articles of Impeachment

00:27and the Visual Verification,

00:30signed by 215 congressmen,

00:33according to Senate President Cheese Escudero.

00:35It is expected that in the next two weeks,

00:37the new impeachment rules of the Senate will be completed,

00:40including the process of pre-trial.

00:43But clearly, there will be no impeachment trial

00:47until the next session of the President on July 21.

00:50Impeachment rules still need to be approved in the plenary,

00:54which can be done as early as June 2.

00:56Then, the pre-trial proceedings will be discussed.

00:59There are still a lot of things to do before the actual impeachment court

01:03needs to sit down and listen to everything.

01:07And within six days, even 30 days, it might not be over yet.

01:13That's what Senator Coco, our minority leader, said in an interview,

01:19June 30 is already over.

01:21Escudero thinks there's no problem

01:23even if the 20th Congress passes the impeachment of the Vice President.

01:27But whatever the decision of the 19th Congress,

01:29it can change the entry of new members of the 20th Congress.

01:36Because at any point in time,

01:38because it passed, the new Congress can always vote

01:42to withdraw the impeachment complaint.

01:59If the impeachment of former Chief Justice Renato Corona is based,

02:03the Senate can finish the impeachment proceedings of the Vice President

02:07within two to three months.

02:09Escudero added,

02:10the Senate cannot force the Vice President by June 30

02:15because the term of the current Congress is about to end.

02:18What is this? Exam of Grade 3?

02:20The prosecution and defense have not yet presented their witnesses

02:25because it's already June 30.
