00:00I cannot believe the call.
00:01You've got Marshawn Lynch in the backfield."
00:04Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most painful or embarrassing
00:08moments in Super Bowl history.
00:10We'll only be looking at game-related moments, so sorry, Christina Aguilera, your national
00:14anthem fumble belongs on a different list.
00:16He's being chased by Beebe!
00:18Watch out!
00:19Did he get across?
00:20No, they are not.
00:22That's going to be a touchback!
00:25Number 10.
00:26Garrow's gaffe, Super Bowl VII
00:28This contest between Miami and Washington was shaping up to be pretty uneventful.
00:32We have a team coming in here undefeated, untied, the Miami Dolphins.
00:36No team has ever come into the Super Bowl with an unblemished record.
00:39No team has ever won 17 games in a row in a professional football season.
00:44Miami's shooting for that record today.
00:46Miami held their opponents scoreless until the final few minutes of the game, when Dolphins
00:50kicker Garrow Yipremian lined up for a field goal to make the score 17-0.
00:54Unfortunately, the kick was blocked, instead of scooping up the loose ball and running
00:58out of bounds or even just taking a sack, Yipremian attempted a, let's call it, a pass.
01:03Here's Yipremian.
01:04He lost the ball out of his hands, and it flops into the hands of Mike Bass, who made
01:10a good run here down the sideline.
01:12It was tipped, and Washington defensive back Mike Bass snagged it and ran it back for a
01:16touchdown.
01:17The Dolphins still won, but Yipremian's foolish mistake came to be known as Garrow's gaffe.
01:21Imagine going down in NFL history for that.
01:23I feel great that we won the game, but I feel very bad that I tried to be a pass throw.
01:279.
01:28Cam Newton's fumble
01:29Super Bowl 50.
01:30With four minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Carolina Panthers had the ball down 10-16
01:35against the Denver Broncos.
01:36Second and nine, and Newton's passed wide of the mark.
01:40Quarterback Cam Newton had recently been named MVP, and the setup seemed perfect for him
01:44to lead his team down the field for a touchdown and the victory.
01:47But Broncos legend Vaughn Miller had other ideas.
01:50He stripped the ball from Newton for the second time in the game.
01:53Instead of diving on it immediately, Newton backed away from the pile of men trying to
02:05recover the ball.
02:06Denver's T.J.
02:07Ward finally managed to gain possession at Carolina's four-yard line.
02:11Just a few plays later, the Broncos scored, sealing their win and earning a second Lombardi
02:15trophy for Peyton Manning.
02:178.
02:18Wide right
02:19Super Bowl 25.
02:25The Buffalo Bills had a string of bad Super Bowl luck in the early 90s, losing four in
02:29a row and started in 1991 with what had to be the most heartbreaking loss of them all
02:41against the New York Giants.
02:43With just eight seconds to go and down one point, the Bills lined up for a 47-yard field
02:47goal.
02:53At that point in his career, kicker Scott Norwood was one for five on kicks over 40
02:57yards.
02:58Unsurprisingly, he shanked it wide right and the Bills lost 20-19.
03:01Game analysts later noticed the holder, Frank Reich, had lined the laces up incorrectly,
03:05possibly causing the miss.
03:07Either way, Norwood's name is the one that went down in infamy.
03:127.
03:14Safety on the first play
03:15Super Bowl 48.
03:17This game was painful to watch from the very beginning, unless of course you're a Seahawks
03:20fan.
03:21The Seahawks won the toss but put their defense out on the field.
03:25That set the tone right there to let you know, we come to play and we come to play defense
03:30first.
03:31On the first play from scrimmage, Peyton Manning appeared to call it for the snap, then stepped
03:34forward to call an audible.
03:36Center Manny Ramirez didn't realize the quarterback had moved and snapped the ball anyway.
03:40Twelve seconds into the game leads to two points right off the bat, the quickest score
03:46in the history of the Super Bowl.
03:48It sailed past Manning's head and into the end zone, where Bronco Noshon Moreno recovered
03:53it.
03:54He was taken down, resulting in a safety at only 12 seconds into the game.
03:57It set a record for the fastest score to start a Super Bowl, and the Seahawks went on to
04:01rout the Broncos 43-8.
04:02Pete Carroll is a Super Bowl-winning head coach, getting a hug from Russell Wilson,
04:08who he drafted in the third round.
04:106.
04:11Jackie Smith's drop touchdown
04:13Super Bowl XIII.
04:14Smith was a star tight end in the league for 16 years, but this is probably the play he's
04:18most famous for.
04:19When the Cowboys faced the Steelers in 1979, they were down 21-14 at the half.
04:24The end of the first half, at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Super Bowl XIII with a score of
04:29Pittsburgh 21, the Dallas Cowboys 14.
04:33Near the end of the third quarter, the Cowboys had a third down on the 10-yard line.
04:36Quarterback Roger Staubach took the snap and found Smith wide open in the end zone.
04:40He fired the ball for what should have been an easy TD, but it bounced off Smith's chest
04:44instead.
04:45The tight end appeared to lose his footing as he bent down to make the play, though he
04:55later acknowledged that he should have made the catch.
04:58The Cowboys would lose that game by just four points.
05:005.
05:01John Casey's kickoff goes out of bounds
05:14Super Bowl XXXVIII.
05:16The fourth quarter of this game was electric, with the Panthers and Patriots scoring a combined
05:2037 points in 15 minutes of play.
05:28The Panthers completed a touchdown pass to tie the game at 29 with a minute 8 to go.
05:32If they could hold off the Pats, this game would be the first Super Bowl ever to go to
05:35overtime.
05:36However, John Casey's kickoff went way out of bounds, giving the Patriots the ball at
05:43their own 40-yard line.
05:45With Tom Brady under center and the legendary Adam Vinatieri kicking, the go-ahead field
05:49goal was a cinch.
05:50The Patriots won 32-29.
05:534.
05:57Tim Crumrye's horrifying leg break
05:59Super Bowl XXIII.
06:00After two gruesome injuries in the first eight minutes of this game, both the 49ers and the
06:05Bengals must have thought they were cursed.
06:06The Bengals' chances of winning took another big hit early in the first quarter, when a
06:11routine play changed the course of the game and Tim Crumrye's career.
06:1549ers tackle Steve Wallace broke his ankle on just the third play, but that was nothing
06:20compared to what happened to Bengals defender Tim Crumrye during the Niners' second possession.
06:24While tackling runner Roger Craig, Crumrye horrifically shattered his tibia and fibula
06:29in his left leg.
06:30I knew it was pretty bad because Tim didn't get up.
06:32Come on, Timmy.
06:33Get up, baby.
06:34I'm trying to get up, thinking to myself, you dumbass, you broke your leg.
06:39He was carted off the field but insisted on staying in the locker room to watch the game
06:42instead of going to the hospital.
06:44That was until the medics insisted he could go into shock.
06:46Crumrye had a 15-inch steel rod implanted in his leg and, amazingly, made a full recovery.
06:51I just think it was an adrenaline thing that I was excited to be in the deal and it was
06:57a self-inflicted injury.
06:58It was nobody's fault.
06:59It was my own fault.
07:00I got too damn excited.
07:01I was just too much into the game and I probably wanted it too much.
07:053.
07:06Barrett Robbins goes missing
07:07Super Bowl 37
07:09When Marissa Robbins got a phone call early in the morning the day before the Super Bowl,
07:13she knew something was wrong.
07:14You know, any time the phone rings, not normal hours before 8 o'clock, it's not good.
07:20Her husband, Raiders center Barrett Robbins, had mental health issues and had suddenly
07:24disappeared.
07:25It turned out that he had undiagnosed bipolar disorder and was experiencing a manic episode.
07:28I was out of my mind, out of control.
07:30My life was unmanageable.
07:32I was completely living in a fantasy world.
07:34Believing that the game had already been played and the Raiders had won, he'd taken a cab
07:37to Tijuana and partied all night.
07:39Although he returned to San Diego in time, coach Bill Callahan decided to keep him out
07:43of the game.
07:44The once-unstoppable Raiders O-line broke down without their leader, and the Buccaneers
07:48sacked QB Rich Gannon five times.
07:51The final score was a 48-21 blowout.
07:54I want champs, baby!
07:562.
07:57Leon's letdown
07:58Super Bowl 27
07:59When will players learn?
08:00Showboating before you've crossed the goal line is a bad idea.
08:03It's a teaching lesson for me to always finish, but also to never give up.
08:08During the fourth quarter, the Cowboys sacked Bill's quarterback Frank Reich and stripped
08:11the ball.
08:12The Cowboys' defensive lineman Leon Lett scooped up the ball and ran it 64 yards for what should
08:17have been an easy touchdown.
08:18However, before he reached the end zone, he slowed down and held the ball out in a premature
08:22celebration.
08:23Leon Lett would have scored, but he slowed down to celebrate at the five-yard line, and
08:29when he did, Don Beebe, hustling, stripped it away.
08:33Bill's wide receiver Don Beebe came flying up from behind and popped the ball out of
08:37Lett's hand.
08:38It went out of the end zone for a touchback.
08:40Lucky for Lett, the Cowboys were already up 35 points by then.
08:43The fumble was embarrassing, but at least it didn't cost them the game.

09:06The Seahawks throw the game away
09:08Super Bowl 49
09:09You're the Seattle Seahawks, and you're down 28-24 against the Patriots in the Super
09:13Bowl.
09:14It's second and goal on the one-yard line with 27 seconds left.
09:21You give the ball to all-pro running back Marshawn Lynch for an easy touchdown, right?
09:25Apparently not.
09:26Pete Carroll called a pass play, which was picked off by Malcolm Butler.
09:3120 seconds and one massive brawl later, it was over.
09:37The loss was shocking, but no one was more surprised than Seattle cornerback Jeremy Lane.
09:42He had broken his wrist and tore his ACL earlier.
09:45He woke up from surgery to see his team on the one-yard line, then fell back asleep thinking
09:50he'd be bringing home a ring.
09:51He found out the reality the next day.
09:52There's a lot of bright sunshine right now in Foxboro and all over New England.
09:57Which of these Super Bowl moments made you cringe?
