Andy Lord urges the Government to invest in London transport network

00:00And what would you say to MPs from other parts of the country who may say to the Chancellor

00:05London does ridiculously well, why don't you spend some money up north?

00:09Well we're really supportive of the fact that investment is needed across the whole country.

00:14We've proactively supported our colleagues in Manchester for example. It's critical that

00:20transport and infrastructure is invested in across the country. But my message to those

00:24MPs is investing in London in TfL isn't just about investing in London, it's about investing

00:29in the wider UK economy. And if they look at the amount of work and jobs that are provided

00:35in their own constituency, many of them will find that a lot of those are directly because

00:39of investment and decisions that TfL make.

00:42What would be a good outcome from the spending review for TfL?

00:46I think a great outcome would be a long term funding settlement that enables us to give

00:51certainty to London that we're going to continue with the upgrades we've got, fix some of the

00:55road network and hopefully have at least one of the new line extensions so that we

01:00can really demonstrate huge growth in London.
